You know that part of Futurama when Fry tries to make Calculon go rescue his wenchbot in a movie theatre, and winds up making him sit around recalculating papers instead?
I think most games, without significant adaptation, turn into movies like that. You have to have a REALLY strong storyline to even have a shot at making a movie, and then you have to move watchers past the fact that they aren't in control, which requires chronic and unrelenting awesomeness.

Woah... all but one person has mentioned the brilliant Street Fighter Anime films. the live action version was awful, but the two anime films were good!
But saying the game related movies are only good if they were made by the Japanese is leik saying the world is flat.... Not only was there the FF:Sprits Within (- which wasn't overly bad), but there was the horrendous Tekken movie (which pretty much killed the franchise for me).

Puyo-Pop could be a serious contender for a film or maybe a live action Sonic film (- in the style of "who framed roger rabbit" or "Alvin and the chipmunks")

They cast Mila Kunis as Mona in the Max Payne movie.....and Mark Wahlberg is playing Max Payne, c'mon, Mark always just acts as "The Pissed Off guy" - he's not gonna pull Max Payne off....and what, is the movie gonna have Graphic Novel sequences in it or something? Seriously, cancel this movie now, spend your money on something better!
It should be some kind of special choose your own adventure 3D movie in theaters, with buttons where the cupholders should be, one is a compass rose, and one is a "yes/no"Boonesbane said:

On the whole I'd say games being made into films is a very bad idea. But we all know it will happen anyway so heres my list.

-Devil may cry (especially if the protagonist is Jason Statham in a wig)

I would say all of them, but after seeing Resident Evil (Yes I liked the Resident evil movies shut up) and a few snippits of Silent Hill, I can say that there is hope for some game-movies. but if theres any of them that would be so bad that they would most likely be made by Uwe Boll, I would have to say Starcraft, Diablo, World Of Warcraft (OH WAIT), Half Life, Halo (OH WAIT AGAIN, and besides I think halo is horribly generic and the most overrated game ever) Gears of War (OH WAIT YET AGAIN) Assassin's Creed (Oh god no, I mean, I think Im the only one who thought that the Altair plot was good but Im sure a movie would just fuck it up royally) StarFox (That one is coming from a huge Star Fox Fan), Legend Of Zelda (Another game where the outfits that people wear only look good in the game), Need For Speed (Gaurenteed that it would feature a bunch of Wankers saing "bling" every two seconds competing against another bunch of wankers who say "Bling" every two seconds) Grand Theft Auto (Thank god they said that they wouldnt do that) and Metal Gear Solid.
