I hate all competitive multiplayer being a casual gamer, I generally get owned by people who put lots of time and effort into games.

Halo and COD they use it as a excuse for a short singleplayer
Take out the multiplayer from those games and what are you left with? Not much really, but at least Reach's campaign didn't seem like only 1/3 of the design team was working on it while the rest was working on the multiplayer.

Most of the Homm Series. So much multiplayer wannabe in those games. Why would someone want to play a Turn based game on multiplayer over internett when it lasts 4-5 hours per game atleast and the ai alrdy takes AGES to move? Oh and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. So much potential but had multiplayer stomp on it :/.

I have always been a huge fan of the Myst series, and I have to say that Uru Live was never necessary. Uru's still an outstanding game though.

Anyone remember Deus Ex multiplayer? Can't remember if they actually implemented it or not.
That was the example I was going to use... I tried it once, I don't think I ever got it to work properly.

To all those talking about Mass Effect 3's rumoured multiplayer:

It's not necessarily going to be too terrible. Of course, the story will always be the main reason for playing it, but I for one like the idea of rampaging round as a customised Turian.

I heard a nasty rumour that Bioware are thinking of multiplayer for Mass Effect 3.

Please don't let it be true :(
If they do, people are gonna rage. It just... wouldn't work for the ME series, just like it didn't last for BioShock 2. BioWare don't really do MP so they'll probably just focus on Single Player.

Resident Evil 5. For the love of god, RE5. Worst implementation of co-op I've ever seen.
...Are you serious? The fault of the game is not the co-op, which is great, but the fact that you are forced to play it like that or with AI.
Sentiments are shared XD

GOD DAMMIT SHEVER!!! (Yes I say shever, Cause She's a nub)

Get out the way shever!, Move Shever, Ill kill you shever!!

That is all youll hear me say when I play RE5 by myself

Crackdown 2. When you put two or more superpowers together and make them fight, it just turns into a massive cluster-fuck of missiles and ragdolls.

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet: Metroid Prime 2.

Jedi Knight 2...what the hell was that all about, the only time it barely worked was first person with guns...not really the point of a JK game.

Star Wars: Republic Commando, the singleplayer was awesome, it worked amazingly because it was all about commanding a squad. The Multiplayer had nothing.

Apparently Stranglehold had multiplayer, I can imagine that would have sucked seeing as it was a bullet time game, I personally couldn't even log on so I guess no one was playing?

BioShock 2 and Uncharted 2 are the first that spring to mind. Dead Rising 2 as well. Also, I don't think that Portal 2 really needs co-op.

I'm starting to see a pattern there.

Uncharted 2? Really? It probably has the best third person shooter multiplayer of the current gen, and it obviously did not detract any dev attention from the Single Player campaign.

I could understand it if the single player campaign felt lacking because of it, but it certainly does not.
