I'm going for Oblivion like many before me. I got to the point where I could bugger off and just left the main quest behind, left to my own devices I got vampirism twice, attacked most major Oblivion gates, did a bunch of Daedra quests, bought five houses and killed every animal in the game a hundred times over.

Star Ocean: Till the end of time... I should have fought more enimies before going to the boss.

Basicaly, I really enjoyed the story and years ago I used to skip battles a lot and now I learned my lesson. Fight every monster you can...

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Took me months to finish, mostly because I spent absurd amounts of time just mucking around. Plus, I liked the sailing so I didn't abuse the warps.

Also Secret of Mana. I started that years ago with my brother and still haven't finished.
ending was stupid... you mean the game for the playstation where you can choose your weapon, and it's like 2h sword, sword, fist, spear, axe, 2h axe and stuff right?

Baldur's Gate 1 was probably the last game that I genuinely cared about playing that took me more than a week to end up getting from the beginning to the end in my first playthrough. That game was pretty hard when I first tried it out. It felt really good when I finally beat it. :)

Vandal Hearts 2. That game was my freaking Eleanor. It took me five attempts, three memory cards, two Playstations, and 6 or 7 years before I finally beat the fucker. And it was AWESOME!

It's for the SNES, but those weapons sound about right. It's okay if the ending is dumb (the plot sure is), its just fun to play. Nothing like spending half an hour farming duplicating cave slimes just because you can.

The orginal Star Fox. Finally beat the hardest difficulty a few months ago. I've been playing the game off and on for 11 years or so.

Yup. The extra chars are part of the reason it's taking forever to finish. I play Sprite and my brother plays the Boy. So we only work on the game if we're both available to play.

IIRC, we just finished beating the boss in that Moogle forest.

I'm notorious for never finishing games though. I spent well over 100 hours on LoZ: TP just because I had so much fun exploring and talking to everyone in Hyrule that I didn't want it to end, and that's not even supposed to be a long game like WW.

Original Half-Life.

Started in late 2004, stopped around the last boss, picked it up and finished it around late 2007.

Mass Effect 1 was my longest not that it was hard but in RPG's I like to do every thing so I guess I made it longer than it really had to be. It was 36 hrs of straight playing to do everything & I still have not completed all the challenges for the gamer points one day I will get back on that lol.
To be fair, most of the achievements in that game are fucking annoying to get in the first place. You have to play the campaign with most of the classes, some of which are a pain to play with, and then you have to play the campaign 2 more times on 'Hardcore' and 'Insanity'.

OT: The original Deus Ex, I played through most of the game and then got stuck on the boat level towards the end. When I couldn't continue, I restarted the game until I got to that part again, whereas I was still stuck. I stopped playing the game and only finished it last year, seven years later...

Red Alert 3. I've had the game for a few years now and I still haven't finished all the campaigns on normal, though I've done most on easy. By the by... if anyone plays Red Alert and wants a game send me a message. It can be hard to get a match going sometimes.

Of course, Fallout 3 and Oblivion. I have about 250 hours in Star Ocean 3 and still haven't gotten through all of the post-game content, so I don't know if that counts.

I'd say Battletoads....if it weren't for the fact that I beat it within a week. Back when I was 8. I reeally don't get why everyone thinks it's so difficult. Either gamers have become soft, or I was awesome (doubtful).

I was stuck in Link's Awakening for a looong time, because my knowledge of English was nonexistent when I bought the game. Took me around 2 years to beat it.
