I consider myself to still be on the clock for Final Fantasy IX, as, much to my everlasting shame, I've still never been able to beat Ozma.

That puts me somewhere around 10 years. Now I have it on my PS3, I'll get around to it, I promise.

In actual game time, my FFX save is 210+ hours. I'm still working on the Battle Arena, but I keep getting sidetracked grinding items for customizing my armour.

Morrowind, about midway through the main quest I took a break and just explored the world. 200h later I had completely forgotten what I had to do and couldn't find any information about it in my questlog because it was littered with tons of useless sidequests. (In case somebody doesn't know, Morrowind's questlog works like a diary so in order to reread information about a quest you have to browse back to the day you received it...)

Also, Might and Magic 6. Still haven't finished it...

Mass Effect 1 was my longest not that it was hard but in RPG's I like to do every thing so I guess I made it longer than it really had to be. It was 36 hrs of straight playing to do everything & I still have not completed all the challenges for the gamer points one day I will get back on that lol.
To be fair, most of the achievements in that game are fucking annoying to get in the first place. You have to play the campaign with most of the classes, some of which are a pain to play with, and then you have to play the campaign 2 more times on 'Hardcore' and 'Insanity'.
Yea that's pretty much why I have not gotten them all yet lol.

I did everything in that game a bit less than that but I can't believe that 36 hours is the longest you've taken to finish a game, that's not that long really.

OT: Hmmm, I dunno Unlimited SaGa took me a few hundred hours to completely finish, what 7 stories and a huge RPG? Yeah worth it!

Well I only really counted how long it took me to get to the end of the story line in Mass Effect. I did spend the better part of 500+ hrs in Oblivion doing & exploring every little thing and listening to every NPC before wrapping up the story line.

Edit: But if I counted the actual time it took to do the story line in Oblivion it would most likely be less than Mass Effect.

tomb raider 2 when i was a kid, my dad had to help me with most of it
My Dad helped me on that too, back in the PS days.

Do you remember the Croft Manor? As a kid I used to love bumping into the old man with the tray of tea, He farted sometimes didnt he, or is that my childhood memory of what sounded like a fart to young ears..

I never beat Super Mario 2 when it was on the NES. Played it constantly, never beat it.

It wasn't until it was rereleased on the Game Boy Advance that I finally beat it.

Dragon Warrior: Monster 2 Tara's Adventure took me quite a while as a kid. That last world with the trio of bosses followed by the fat arse with the Giga Slash attack was a pain. Now that I'm older, I can pretty much breeze through the game, but when I was a kid, it was quite an obstacle.

Ok ok next time I will put down all the time I spent in a game piddling around not doing anything of importance along with the time of the important stuff lol.

Dragon Age: Origins. 40 hours into my original playthrough I got to the final bit of the Deep Roads where you're locked in. I didn't have any health or mana items left, I had the wrong party set up, and very few healing spells, meaning I couldn't defeat the boss character.

I started a new game with took 60 hours to finish.

It therefore took me 100 hours to beat Dragon Age!

I'd say in terms of play time either Morrowind or Oblivion. I have spent over 1000 hours on each of them mostly due to exploring and side missions and also creating new characters. But if i was just powering through the story on each of them that wouldn't take that long so i'll also say in terms of just going with the story probably Final Fantasy X or Final Fantasy XII.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3...I beat it for the first time about 2 years ago and I got the game in '94
Being a huge Sonic fan (current gen excluded for obvious reasons apart from the daytime Sonic Unleashed stages which I think should be available as a stand-alone game on XBLA/PSN) Im kinda embarassed to admit it

For those wondering it was on a specific section of the game which I discovered after some research that EVERYBODY has had trouble with:
THAT FUCKING SPINNING BARREL IN CARNIVAL NIGHT!!!!!

So fucking long I tried that bit. Jumping up and down to try and make it bounce down so I could jump onto the platform beneath. Using Tails to jump on it so I could jump under it. I tried giving it the finger but that didnt work either.
Turns out you just press, I kid you not, UP and DOWN in time with which ever way its moving!!!
How in the blue hell was I supposed to know that back in '94?! I was 5 fucking years old for christs sake!!! We didnt have the internet for help!

Anybody else who has had the same issue with that particular trouble spot, I feel your pain, seriously I do
I remember the first time I ran into that, as tails, and constantly trying to fly upwards, trying to find a secret tunnel or something, as I couldn't work out the barrel, I actually only completed it earlier this year due to getting the sonic classic collection for the DS.

ooh, and Never completed Loz: Majora's mask due to not being able to stick the eggs into that goddamn aquarian.
