Well, StarCraft, in my humble opinion, has the best cinematics of any game, and who doesn't love a good movie about dumbass redneck humans going to war against evil aliens and getting their guts splattered everywhere? It would probably have to be mostly CGI rendered, but I think that can be done now, and Blizzard just has so much God damn money.

The formula for a StarCraft movie is just made of win:

StarCraft = Alien + Firefly + 300

Plus, it has three of the most awesome characters of all time - Raynor, Kerrigan and Tassadar. How can you not love them?

Left 4 Dead would make a killer movie. Especially if they do it like they did with the opening cutscene.
Probably, but I found Zombieland to be insanely close to L4D.

On topic, I think Advent Rising, and its cancelled sequels. The storyline was being written by a novelist, after all.

You know, I hear people compare the two but really I saw it twice and never found the comparison. I mean, the poster and the fact that there were four were similar, but not much else. That's just me, though. I'm talking like an official movie made by Valve.

I know, it would be fun, what with the special infected. It would just be a question of if it was a movie of the first game, second, or a whole new setting with new people.

Well I was thinking like an expansion of the first cutscene. It was only about 5 minutes long and if they kept on going it could make a great movie. And make transitions from level to level. Then make a sequel movie involving the sequel characters and setting. Valve is actually really good with that, as they've proven with Meet the Spy, so I know many people who would gladly pay 10 bucks to go see a movie made by Valve.

Metal Gear Solid. The entire series rendered as live action games so Hideo Hojima can spread his message without that pretentious "Gameplay" getting in his way.

Sim City. There, I said it.

But in all reality, "good movie" and "games" just don't merge well. At best you get a half-way decent, mediocre movie that either pales in comparison to the original concept, or butchers it to pieces and then rapes the remains until they're jelly.

When I was young, I actually envisioned a book based on FF6. Then, during high school, when I learned of the FF movie (Spirits Within) I had high hopes, then I saw the actual movie, and I cried buckets of brutal tears for it was one of the biggest wastes of time I'd ever watched (8mm was another).

Metal Gear Solid practically IS a friggin movie, and would be if Hideo Kojima really got his way. Mario will likely never work as a live action film. Halo is already a series of books which would just further degrade the fanbase into bickering fools between book vs movie fans... Most of the exceptionally good games got ignored by the media, and might have made good movies, if they weren't already movie-like experiences.

See, the thing is, most games games are actually LIKE watching a movie, except you interact with it. That's how I view a lot of games made today, the ones that have such a heavy saturation of cutscenes that they may as well remove the gameplay entirely. Kingdom Hearts is one of those... they've confangled the whole damn storyline so badly (a predictable Nomura outcome, I imagine) that it may as well BE a movie anyways for all the action they keep shoving into it.

Sadly, I just don't see a good video game movie in the future. And if I do, it'll likely be a poor imitation of what it was based off of. Like what I heard about the Metroid, Castlevania, Prince of Persia, and Bioshock films.

Assassin's Creed would be a fun movie.

I have my heart set on a Dead Space film. Or System Shock. Really, System Shock 2 would be great if they managed to pull it off. :(

Yeah, yeah. I know 'Pandorum' is basically Dead Space/System Shock but I want a reaaaal one. /whine

One would assume that would be counter-productive. Kojima chose video games because he saw them as a way to tell cinematic stories. He could have very well brought Metal Gear to the world via film if he wanted to.

It would essentially be something like, "YO DAWG I HEARD YOU LIKED MOVIES SO I PUT A CINEMATIC GAME IN YO MOVIE SO YOU CAN WATCH CUTSCENES WHILE YOU WATCH CUTSCENES."

There is a Dead Space film, granted its an anime film but its still awesome. Not that expensive either.

It would just be an embarrasment to watch.

I'd say Kingdom Hearts in the style of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
