Games that would make terrible movies

I think anything like Mass Effect or other modern RPGs cannot be done. With such a full, near-movie experience, you cannot recreate it.
It doesn't matter what it is. Someone like Uwe Boll or Michael Bay would get their hands on it.

Zelda would make a fine animated film.

Halo would be good under the right circumstances

Mario could make a very neat live action film it be a cross between5th element without the guns and Night before chrismas but not as Gothic/dark, and yes the radioactive mushrooms have strange powers to those that wear the magical gloves..... and Koopa would be a large lizard man who runs the underwolrd in the mushroom kingdom, the film would be a mix of action and humor and quirky style.

Really anything can be made into a a film but it takes more effort than hollywood has on a regular basis..I mean seriously give me something that I can;t bash into a basis for a film or TV ep(live action) and I might agree it can't be done.

That's pretty much how it was. I really liked it, actually.

In part yes, but koopa was far more man than large lizard king, the setting was to real world where it should have been more stylized like Corpse bride/NBC/OZ only less dark and more cute but with that scene of impending danger from the backdrop, powers would be the jump boots and the glove to transition power from the mushrooms that's not to off the wall when you have more mushrooms than trees.

It was that rare movie that kinda worked in its own world/pace but had little to do with the fiction it was based on Judge dread was like that and I can think of a couple other films MK for one that were kinda good.

Basically to much real world not enough canon/cannon fiction, hollywoodized ad libbing fails 9 out of ten times..... like Galactus being a locus swap..... oh wait..... *twitch twitch* why dose half of marvel ultimate fail so hard....

Any of the Starfox games. Nuff said.
Oh please make a nice PG13 flick, sex up the charatcer designs a bit, make it either animated or full CGI, it would not function well as a live action flick unless you turned them into basic anthrmorphs (IE some facial/body features) ala Enterprise.

Now there is one that can not be made into a movie unless you make it about a mine sweeper competition and or programming of the algorithm. I mean hell..if chess can be the center of a film...

You know what WOULD be GOOD? Parasite Eve 2: The Shower Scene: The Movie. An art house thing, I'm sure.

Any Elder Scrolls game would stink worse than a dead guy in an overused port-a-john.

Interviewer: What's the movie about?
Producer: Well, you start out meeting our hero, who is the chosen one.
Director: And then he sort of runs around talking to people and stealing things.
Pro: And then kills the population of a few of the villages.
Dir: And then he becomes a vampire.
Pro: And then he sort of stumbles upon the ending on accident.
Dir: And the whole thing is done in first person.
Int: Uwe, Michael, I'm so glad you two have put aside your differences to work on this.
Parasite eve 2 sucked..... but ya that could work....
And the elder scrolls would be LOTRs with a different fantasy base...next....

Sonic the Hedgehog. Or Star Fox. Because a live action film would just be a bunch of people in furry costumes and in an animated (or CGI) film the writing would suck.

Star Fox MIGHT (emphasis on might) work as a PG-13 animated television series and we all know that Sonic is damn good if done correctly.

DISCLAIMER!: All previous comments are not to be linked with Sonic the Hedgehog fan film currently in production. That has a good chance to kick ass.
Theres already been a Sonic animated film :)

Pretty much all of them, the method of storytelling is different and to maintain the interest of a cinema audience, you either need to add some characterisation, change the plot or lose some important elements. This means you alienate the gamers, and not doing this makes for a bad film anyway.

I gotta say that all games would make a bad film. They would basically be a long cut scene without any interactivity.
Which defeats the purpose of a game entirely.

I would actually like to see this Starfox Movie, now. It'd be pretty sweet as a PG, even. It's built for it, really. The games had just enough plot and backstory mixed in with non-stop action that you could easily pull it off without pissing off too many elitists who are upset that they didn't take into consideration their fanfic in which Fox and Falco vie over the affection of Mary Sue.
CGI with sexed up animorphs and a starwars ep feel to dialog story or it done like enterprise with basic but detailed make up jobs and a simi dark look?
Hell SF adventure 2 was pretty sexed up for the PG level.

Hell mass effect can make a nice trilogy first one covers getting to the Citadel possibly before Shepard becomes a Spectre it would focus on a mix of action, story and meet the galaxey as it were ,the 2nd film is more action based as they do some planet hopping to find Seran and the final movie deals with the last main plot points.

You could condense it into a 2 hour flick but I think that would be a waste of money.

Have you seen the trailers for Minesweeper? =D
Yeah. Great stuff. Still, think of my example. It would be agonizing.
