Halo bored the hell out of me. I've played a lot of FPS's, including ones that don't get the heaps of praise this series does, but I completed the first level and nothing clicked for me.

I've played the first level of each subsequent release, apart from Reach, and been met with the same feelings of overwhelming mediocrity, I don't know what's not working for me.
If thats how you feel about those games then for the love of God and all that is holy NEVER play Reach. I hated everything about. I do mean everything.

Terraria. I tried it, but it just didn't grab me. Same thing with the GTA and Hearts of Iron series.

The first level is always different; fittingly enough it's an introduction, in varying degrees, to the setting, characters, plot, and gameplay, including the weapons. The best parts are typically toward the middle or end, and are often the larger or longer levels, and with the first level being an introduction it tends to be shorter.

The Elder Scrolls games, or at least those I've tried. I enjoy high fantasy, the more unique unto itself, the better. I enjoy exploring huge sandbox environments in games... but something about Morrowind and Oblivion just rubs me wrong... be it the stat system, the gameplay, level progression... all of which I have small problems with... but I guess it just comes down to the overall execution of the games... just didn't work for me. Wasn't fun.
Regardless, I'll pick up Skyrim when it's cheap enough to suit me and give the series another spin... but I don't expect to be drawn in.

Skyrim. Actually basically anything by Bethesda or Bioware. I'm sure I should just be gushing over these games, but I just don't care. The Bioware stuff has the extra stigma of being attached to EA, who I refuse to support in any capacity.

Probably Bastion. I love artsy games and narrative games and indie games, and Bastion is all that. But I played it and was like :-\

I should have loved Portal 2 and I did for the first playthrough but then I realized... now what? I know the answer to all of the puzzels and sure the dialogue is fun but it's not really worth another playthrough. Co-op only lasts so long too. I guess I'm just really big on replay value and for me, 15 hours of Portal 2 is just not enough content.
I've gone through parts again and will get to a full second playthrough eventually. What's the draw? I want to explore. I keep finding little features or spots I didn't know about or didn't appreciate. Heck, several of the achievements require exploring or Googling, and I'd rather explore, so I'll at least play intermittently until I have them.

OT: The Lost Vikings-- everyone else seems to like it, and the idea is interesting enough and I could probably come to like the characters, but when I played it it just bored and confused me (of course I was 11 or 12 at the time, I might like it more now, but I lost it years ago).

Oblivion.

It's weird. I loved Fallout 3, so I should love Oblivion, right? Well, I liked the lore, but the characters, the quests, and the world were just lacking sooo much. Not to mention a leveling system that fucked you over any way it could.

Oddly enough, though, I'm absolutely loving Skyrim. Huh. :p

Half-Life 2: Considering I loved the original, the second game bored me, especially having played Halo 3 years prior. It was a step backwards for FPSers as far as I was concerned and I was actually relieved that the old school designed FPSers pretty much died with that game.
You shut your lying whore mouth and you NEVER OPEN IT AGAIN! EVERYONE loves half life 2, and they RIGHTLY revere it as a CLASSIC! Anyone who DOESN'T is obviously a TERRORIST who has declared WAR on PEACE, LOVE, and HAPPINESS!

As for me, I'd have to say Sins of a Solar Empire. I thought I could win through culture and economics but... nope.avi

It always boiled down to spending all your cash on increasing fleet size>number of capital ships>Crashing the metal/crystal market before your enemy did.

Fair enough, I'm just of the opinion that an introduction should set the scene and pull you in, and none of these games ever have. They weren't bad, by any means, just nothing above the standard run and gun affairs I'm used to.

Saints Row: The Third.

It was meant to be THE superior game to Saint's Row 2 not a step backwards from Saint's Row 2.
This one applies to me, I really dislike the control choices they made for 3. Also, it's cool that you can be a furry but like Yahtzee said, it loses it's appeal when it's the rule and not the exception.

Legendary and, Turok. Legendary should have been a lot better but it turned out to be really bland. All I wanted to do was shoot Minotaur, Sphinx and, Dragons in the face with a shotgun but I remember being severely underwhelmed by the game. Turok was more or less the same thing: I wanted to kill fucking Dinosaurs not space marines.

I should love Battlefield 3 because I loved Bad Company 2, but I don't. I mean I own the game and play it but it's just alright, nothing special. The game just feels like it's doing a bad CoD impression and on the console the game looks almost no different from Bad Company 2, and it some cases, worse.

Dead Rising: Tons of zombies, multiple ways to go about killing all of them. But I just can't bring myself to enjoy it. It's mainly because of the time limit (both the timed missions and the "72 hour" mode).

It was fun until I got to a point where I had 3 or 4 missions, but only enough time to finish 1. Than I decided to say "FUCK the side missions", and then I had to wait a few hours for the game to decide "Okay, I'm going to pick up the story now." A way to fix the problem though, add a way to advance time (for example: Complete the story objective and turn it in early, have a window pop up asking if you want to advance time)

Mowing over Zombies is fun, but when you are forced to do it until the games says enough time has passed (and that time is longer than a few minutes) it gets old.

Most strategy games: Especially earlier ones (Command and Conquer 1 and Red Alert). Mainly because of the difficulty curve of them. Red Alert for example, I get 3 or 4 missions into either campaign and BOOM impassible wall of difficult. Newer ones (Like Starcraft 2) though have had a decent difficulty curve so that the average gamer can actually beat it without having to rely on cheats.

But still, most strategy games because I can get about 50% through one and than the difficulty spikes up.

Vanquish: I love fast paced games like it, but i can't even point my finger on what I didn't like. Probably the same reason I don't like Hard Reset (or as my friend said "Painkiller with Robots") in the fact that there are no human(iod) enemies. File Hard Reset under here too.

That's it for the Current Generation.

Mass Effect 2.
Not entirely sure why. I love pretty much every idea about it. I'm a huge fan of shooters and of RPG's, and I loved the way the first game blended the 2, but every time I try to play ME2, I just get bored out of my mind before the first mission is over.

Skyrim. Fantasy combined with open world should equal instant fun and amazing ways to play it, right? But I learned that I need a strong story backing the open world to make it feel awesome to me, a la Red Dead Redemption.

Any of the Mass Effect games really. I don't know I played a bit of it, and I love a good story but it just felt so, drawn out. Beautiful game, amazing designs but i just wanted to fall asleep the entire time.

Grand theft auto IV
Loved all the ones before that, but that game just made me annoyed and bored me to death so terribly.
