Trust me...it was.
The hero could do one pretty cool thing though.
He could stand on his head for a looooooong ass time.
(im not kidding either)
I looked it up on wikipedia to see how bad it was received. Holy crap one of the reviewers described its battle system as "comfortably the worst in 20 years of RPGs".
And i completely agree with him.

Final Fantasy XIII. Looks good, but in my opinion doesn't get much past that.
<color=purple> Ummm, isn't the topic, "Games that you should never buy."? Not, "Games that I think only look nice."?

<color=purple>
...sorry. I'm a bit defensive. But I don't think people have given this game a fair chance. Most people who have played it, never played enough to form a seemingly correct assumption. And a lot of people that never liked JRPG's or Final Fantasy in specific just decided they would buy this game....well, of course they don't like it.
In my opinion, it was a great game. I think that anyone who likes JRPG's(especially other Final Fantasy titles) and innovative fighting systems, should play this game, even if only for the story. It tells a wonderful story with jaw-dropping visuals. this is one of my favorite games.

...now that that is off my chest.

ummm, I can't really think of any games off the top of my head that nobody should ever buy. I know there are some really bad ones out there. i have never really played many of them though.

Too Human.

Sometimes I start thinking too much about how I actually spent money to own that game and I'll wake up three days later in my yard, naked, smelling of grave soil.

Oh, I loved Too Human. Fun combat system, always wanting better loot, and a very interesting idea, I've never seen Norse mythology turned sci-fi before... Although it did suck when you died...

Its kinda old but LUNAR:DRAGON SONG
Quite possibility one of the worst games i have ever played.
i bought it...then went back a couple of days later and sold it.\
i only got about $3 for it but i didn't care, i just wanted to get rid of it.
Good, I wasn't the only person who considers that piece of shit to be the worst they have ever played...

The combat is the worst I've ever seen in an RPG, the leveling system was horrible, the plot was incredibly convoluted, every attempt to make money was an annoying collection quest, and characters would drop in and out of your party every five minutes and take all of their equipment with them.

Bottom line,
NEVER BUY LUNAR:DS
Tell me about it, making money was a pain, and it didn't help that everything in the game was so damn expensive.
even the lowest form of healing Items, Gum, cost several missions worth of money.
As for the characters..interesting designs but absolutely nothing to them.
Its either attack, of if you can, use your ONE special skill.
(only the pink haired chick and the green haired girl could learn more than one skill)
The main character could only attack!
That's it!
I heard he was supposed to learn some powerful skills later on but i didnt keep the game for very long.
Very late in the game you got elemental spells from these dragon orb things, problem was there was no elemental weaknesses in that game so all of the spells did the same damage and cost the same amount of MP (and they all hit every enemy). That games entire battle system was a joke, nothing more...

Two Worlds, Wow and Pro Evolution Soccer managment.
Two worlds is somewhat ok but gets boring pretty fast >.< Oblivion was much better.
Wow repeatable, repeatable, repeatable and did I say repeatable. Seriously thou if u do like it many get attached to it and compleatley discards their lives (not that I have any but).
PES Man well I picked it out of a bargain bin, would as well been the trash bin I don´t know, horrible.

Modern Warfare 2 & Dragon Age: Origins
You wouldn't mind, y'know, explaining your reasoning, would you?
Modern Warfare 2 I think is fairly obvious, Only really exceeds in graphics, the story is pathetically short, has no co-op and is too similar to MW1, Special Ops was the only fun part of the game on co-op when playing with my brother, multi-player is riddled with bugs and hackers, and even without those it was unbalanced anyway.

Dragon Age: Origins felt too much like a bad copy of Final Fantasy XII with an altered story, the entire 'tactics' system seems to be taken from the Gambits on FFXII, although it's needless to say I never even needed to use the tactic system due to how easy the game is even on normal, and even when I did try to use it, my characters just seemed to ignore my instructions and not do what I say, I never felt the need to take control of the characters myself and I just selected attack for the entire game and use a potion when I needed too, the only hard boss fight was the final one, which was more of a grind than anything else. It's (was?) also riddled with bugs and glitches. Along with far too much dialogue to the point I couldn't even care what I was saying, aslong as I got past that single conversation within the next 10 minutes. The story wasn't very gripping at all and it doesn't even tell you what to do, Well, it might I just skipped entire conversations, but even then I couldn't find a way in the long winded menus to find out where I was supposed to go. And for all the moral choices you can do, there's only 4 endings, which is okay I suppose except for 3 of them is the same one with just a different person dying each time.

I could go on and on but I'm bored of typing :|.

Also C&C4 Tiberian Twilight is a disaster, they tried to change the formula and failed, badly.

Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight. It is a stripped down version of its predecessors.

World of Warcraft. Gets you addicted, even though it's really not fun. And by addicted, I mean ADDICTED. You'll lose your real life once you start.

Any Need For Speed game. They are all rubbish and have pretty good advertising campaigns.
SHiFT is friggin' aces.
I forgot about shift. Yes it is quite good. I may have even bought it but Forza 3 came out about a month later so I didn't bother. It would have sold many more copies had it come out earlier.
It was a decent game. Probably the only NFS title work buying. Too bad it was overshadowed by Forza 3 pretty much straight away.

What do you mean the Postal Series? Ok Postal sucked but it is a very old game and they couldn't do much with it. Postal 2 is awesome. It is hilarious. I will not say it is the best game ever, but it certainly is worth playing. I am looking foreword to Postal 3 with its bager on a harness weapon.

I say Blacksite: Area 51.
I thought that was pretty decent actually.

I never got through it. I didn't hate it... it was just so... bland. It was to generic. It had no personality of it's own. No spark. It's a dull game because of that, but not a horrible game.
