The entire Metal Gear series. It's one of those games I never enjoyed a single second of or found at all engaging through the entire adventure. I forced myself through the entirety of MGS, and it was just a bland boring experience with bad control bad camera and bad stealth. Tenchu was the fun stealth game of the time. It was the Saints Row 2 to MGS's GTA4 aproach to gameplay. And the story and conversations were so dumb I thought I was watching a teenie bopper angst ridden chick flick. Awful!
Grand Theft Auto 4 is the worst piece of crap ever taken on a next gen system. It took everything people loved from its 3 predecessors and kicked them over to Saints Row 2 (the true GTA sequel), who quickly took each of GTA's best features from the previous 3 games and upgraded them +11. GTA 4 is this super realistic smear of brown, bloom, and black shadows, coupled with generic retread, no soul, bad driving physics, and a city that's not fun to explore and has nothing to do. LAME!
Bioshock was pure mediocrity coupled with nice visuals. I'm sorry, but no matter how good the visuals, a lack of substance is a deal breaker. That's why the Silent Hill series from 1-3 can be forgiven for being terrible in so many areas. It makes up for it with mood, thought provoking material, and flawed but fridge-brilliant story lines. Bioshock was just dull as all hell. Maybe if you are a die hard steampunk noir fan this might work for you, but for me, it was just another overly nostalgic nod for a period that was crap coupled with the most medicore FPS action ever made. Fallout 3 is forgiven for being a bucket of awesome in the gameplay and substance department.
Resident Evil 5. Wow. RE4 was a perfect reinvention. It was a game that remebered games can be fun and look good. RE5 took everything RE4 did, and made it bad. It then took all of RE4's big WOW moments, and rehashed them so you get to see it again, but in diminished capaicty. Even if the rehash was better than the original, which they aren't, they'd have no wow/shock value, because it's been done already. Being worse than RE4, only made a game full of been there done that moments with bad controls, bad inventory management, and so terrible it's unbearable story-line. Plus, the monsters of RE4 only worked as a 1-shot enemy type. RE5 should have married RE5's parasites with RE1 remake's zombies for the perfect nightmare creature. Instead, it was just more of RE4's too easy to kill, non scary human peasant enemies and then the monsters were bleh in design. Yeah, lickers are cool, but not when they are just enemy tanks who absorb a lot of damage but are functionally retarded. The regenerators of RE4 were brilliant designed tanks and used sparingly so they gave the game some horror. Terribel game. By the time I reached the final boss with Wesker and realized I still can't get a grasp of the controls and would have to redo the entire game just to have ammo to deal with him, I said f@#$ it and pawned the game for a new pair of sandals. Terrible game. When a game sucks so bad you can't endure a replay, you know you f-ed up on the game design. RE5 essentially took a dying series in desperate need of a change right back in the same position after it had just broken free of its old shackles.
