Games With Naked People

It is kind of ironic, considering that women were forbidden from being sculpted or painted nude (unless it was the physical representation of a goddess) back in the day. Only men were allowed to be depicted nude.

It's also kind of insulting because it implies that nudity can only be seen as sexual and not mean anything outside of physical gratification. Not to say that I can't appreciate a nice body, but still. When I see nudity, my first thought is how this relates to the character or what message the creator is trying to convey by literally baring their character.

It is...and I wonder sometimes how this switch got turned off. it almost seems like we were more sexually 'free' in the very primitive times...and in a way men were more free as well. Able to be proud of there bodies and have no fear of being nude.

Makes ya wonder what happened.

My guess is the ability to make cheap clothes and the invention of private baths. I mean, back in the day, people wore clothes less often because clothing wasn't was easy to make. Most kids went entirely naked because to make them clothes (only for them to out grow them in a year or so) was a waste. Then of course, most people had to bathe publically. Only the wealthy had their own personal bathhouse.

Why women are more accepted as nude...I'd guess it's the women's lib and the bra burning. Not to say that was a bad thing to do, but it did open some doors that I think were detrimental to men and women alike. It's less about being nude for the sake of being free and more about trying to appeal to as many potential mates as possible...

This is all just speculation of course XD

He was mostly naked but he was covering up his dick. To me that not a 'nude man'.

Funny tho how thats considered enough and yet females in games are now fully exposed.

I havn't actually played it but I watched a let's play of Amisiea: The dark desent. I was not expecting the frontal nudity in that game. NEather was the person playing.

Well, there aren't usually any completely nude women in games. I, for one, have never seen a vagina in a video game.

Even Bayonetta never showed anything. By your standards, she was practically clothed.

The Witcher 2 probably has the most extreme examples of nudity in media as of late. Some of the sex scenes border on Softcore Porn, especially the scene with Ves. Really GOOD Softcore porn, and tastefully done, but porn none the less.

'The Saboteur', there was a dlc that was added by lucas arts after they threw out pandemic (the makers of the game). It allowed you to turn nudity on through the options, it got rid of all the tit coverers on the strippers. There was also an underground layer where you could pay strippers to do special erotic dances for you.

The dlc was like a backstab to pandemic, taking their work and making it into a stripper.

LA Noire has nudity, and it's possibly the first game ever made that shows a vagina.

Interestingly enough i noticed this too during the red lipstick murder case. I also think Amnesia might be the first game to really show the male member.

I don't think games should shy away from nudity. The uncanny valley argument may have held up a few years back but the tech behind games seems to have incredibly high fidelity now. Just look at titles like LA Noire and Mass Effect. Nudity can be done well if handled tastefully. Games shouldn't shy away from portraying it but shouldn't make it crass pandering either.

Anyway, I agree there should be more games with nudity. It shouldn't be in a degrading way obviously but if it is shown in an artistic sense then I approve.

For what little there was Mass Effect was ok.
The Witcher 2 is great for nudity, using its both sexually and vulnerably. (on separate occasions ofc)

Mafia II featured a rather nicely-formed bottomless woman during an early cut scene. Certainly the best pixelated posterior i've seen in a video game.

This isn't something i've ever really thought about though. If it serves some sort of artistic or stylistic purpose, then i'm not against it.

That said, i wouldn't mind seeing Mad Moxxi without her clothes on.
