*Sighs*
....Final Fantasy 7.
I used to be a fanboy of the Halo series, but quickly realised Bungie had no idea what the fuck 'story continuity' is.
care to expand on that complaint? i never really paid attention to the story too closely and its been a while since i played any of them besides reach. did read all the books however so im not completely clueless its just i cant quite piece together right now why your complaint is valid
When the books first started coming out, Bungie said that the books were officially part of the universe. The first noticeable part in which the story breaks is between the first and second game, in which the 'newer' weapons are shittier than the older ones. Then they completely ignore the books, don't even reference them in the book. By Ghosts Of Onyx when they bring in the S-3s, all are dead aside from current companies, which is long after Reach. Reach has only one actual Spartan-II in the entire game, Gorge. Then they outright tell the first book, the one they declared as story, to fuck off and ripe out the last hundred pages. As far as I can remember, it was never mentioned in Reach how the Covenant found the planet.
Then there was ODST, in which the characters find an Engineer, and get told it will change how the tide of the war. Except the tide of the war changing had nothing to do with it at all, since Chief did that in Halo 3.
In the third book, also which Bungie called official story, A massive fleet of Covenant ships (In the range of five hundred ships, or more) were on their way to reek havoc and rape on Earth. In H2, which came out AFTER First Strike, the Covenant turn up in ten ships and act like they didn't expect to even find a human inhabited world. And again, the weapons. The first game is the only game to have a decent assault rifle and pistol.
In Reach, you have heaps of advanced kinds of weapons. But the Pillar Of Autumn, which was designed for a massive op, only has the most basics of armaments.
...oh god...I just did that....
