I registered just for this as it's been driving me insane!
Basically, from what I can remember it was on either SNES or Sega, the graphics couldn't of been less or more than them two, although I'm not sure on that one. It was a sidescrolling platformer, you could choose to be more than one character at the start, but the only one I remember playing is a Wizard in brown robes. You collected gold from what looked like money bags and at the end of the level you would use the money to upgrade your items. If I remember correctly if you upgraded something on your Wizard he would use his staff to shoot lightning by hitting his staff on the ground.
Level wise I believe the first level you started from what looked like a volcano sort of area which would require you to jump across lava, although I'm not sure that was the first level. Also, on one of the levels I think there was a 'rat' type boss which all the time kicked my ass into the ground.
There's all the details I think, any help would be appreciated.
