It was a PC game, I think an RPG/point-and-click hybrid game, made in the 90's or 80's I think.

You place a guy who I remember was named Jack, who that the start of the game gets cornered fighting a big monster with just a dagger until being rescued by a wizard that insta-kills the monster with just 1 magic spell and tells Jack to go somewhere (I forget where exactly).

I remember other parts of it, like where Jack had to help a girl who was stuck under a fallen tree trunk and returns the favor for his rescue by firing a bow and arrow at a monster that was apprently behind Jack.

the aforementioned girl also carried a locket which you could use to open secret passages, it was also later revealed htat Jack is supposed to defeat an evil wizard or demon by finding a magic sword which might be hidden in a temple block by a flaming wall. I wish I was making this up, but I'm not.

Weird how I remember that much from the game yet I cant remember the title at all.

One game i remeber on the old nes. You were this green bunny, captian...buggy or something. And you had to rescue your crew on each of these planets and then could play as your rescued crew members, there was one crew member who's a robot and you need him to beat this one level where all these giant metal snakes are creating a maze across the screen trying to kill ya.

This one game on Sega Genesis - what was the name of the service you could use to "rent" games "online"? Wow, blast from the past.

The point is it was a top down co-op game I'd play with my brother and one character could throw bombs, but only in the up direction. It actually made that char more powerful in some ways.

This is an old pc game from early 90s. All I can remember is that it was point and click and there were 3 Guys you controlled. Might have been wearing red clothes and were like jokers or devils or jesters or something? I barely remember it. The game started with a cut scene with people at a dinner table I think. and they didn't speak English. It was just gibberish but sounded funny. Then the first level just showed a house and a tree and you had to figure out what to do.
I know what game you're talking about ... owned the second sequel. It was a funny game. I never got that far ... the puzzles didn't make sense to me. The first level was on a ship in my version - but it was three little imps. I could never get it to work on any of my family's computers .. at least not very well. It was one word, I'm fairly sure ... Let me know if you ever discover what is was called. I think it was on CD too.

EDIT - GOBLINS!!!!! I owned Goblins 3 for the PC back in the day. The game would constantly freeze but I battled through it.

I love this thread, it's what makes a site like The Escapist great.

Also, it's amazing how any unanswered questions are on this thread. It's really sad.

Hello all, I've got 2 games to pick your brains with. Both played when I was young, I'm guessing mid to late 90's, but can't remember exactly.

First game: A top down shooter, playing a futuristic army character, most of the time was spent in vehicles of different kinds - I remember tanks, planes, helicopters and mechs fighting the same. You were able to get out and steal parked vehicles too. Also remember green grass, roads, and water. Maps were fairly large.
I'm certain the game name was two words and one of them began with Z. I also remember that the version I played was a demo with "purchase the full game" screens when you exit etc.

Second game: This one will be a lot harder. All I can remember is that it was a space based game, where you pilot or are on board a spaceship. I think it was a bit like X-Com (though I haven't played that). The one thing I do remember about this game is that it started off with a real movie intro of 2 guys sitting on a couch chatting to the camera, and then somehow I think they were beamed onto the ship or something from their house. This was actual footage of 2 actors. Just hope I'm not confusing 2 different things!!

Thanks for any help!
1st game sounds like Defcom 5. No idea on the 2nd. I know Command and Conquer is pretty well known for having actual live action footage in their games.

EDIT - Not Defcom 5 ... it was actually a game that had a "warning" system of some kind that was similar to the so-called Defcom system. Now I can't remember the name...

EDIT EDIT - Sorry, Wargames: Defcon 1 is the title I was looking for, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Mine i used to play on the computers at this place where my mum worked. It was mid - late 90's, for PC and i remember you were in a desert or something and there were a bunch of giant monster worms in the sand that you could see digging around under the ground, i think it was either an adventure game, a puzzle game or a god game. that's all i can remember

PC, side scroller

in teh game, you played as a guy who had a helmet on no visible weapon, and had tan colored pants (almost looked like skin color). the enemy was armored guys with large axes, swords, throwing knives, and MAYBE little dragons. your main (and i think only) weapon was some sort of pixelated square that you shot out of your hands.

the game took place in dungeons (the floors and background were made of brick), and the walls had eyes in them that looked around as you ran through. when not in a dungeon, you were running around on platforms with open skies i think. when you beat the game, your character rides away on a dinosaur.

anyone have any idea what im talking about? :[

An original Xbox, action-RPG, with a heavy JRPG vibe to it. It had colourful graphics. You started out with a warrior guy, training in a castle. As the story went along more people joined you, including some sort of inventor guy, whose weapon of choice was futuristic guns, with which you could go into first-person mode. Can't remember much more about it. It had a Japanese name, one word, two or three syllables.

I can't remember the name of my first PS1 game..In it I think you were a 10-year-old boy with a gun that shoots bubbles or something similar. Some of the enemys were bats I think. I think it was a FPS.

Then there was this another game my brothers used to play on the PS1 (Game we bought with the PS1). It was a 3rd person shooter and it had co-op. The bulelts the guns shot looked the same as the fire balls in super mario bros which mario could shoot after he ate something.. Also one of the bosses were a huge turtle which my brothers could never beat.
OMG i remember that game i cant remember the name however =(
the one with the bubbles anyway

Sidescrolling 2D PC Adventure game's demo. I think it was kinda like Abe's Odyssey.

The game starts as you crash land your plane in the jungle and land on a tree with your parachute, leaving you hanging there until you use your knife on the parachute. There was some aboriginal people trying to sacrivice a girl, but your sudden visit made them scatter in panic. Then you drag the girl with you thru the whole game. Then there was this annoying part at the beginning where you have to get past a snake... Skeletons of dinosaurs.

Hiya wonder if someone can help me...
There is a game i cant quite remember the name of it too.. i think it was a pc game, single player, not entirely sure..... it is a very dark game which has reasonable good quality graphics and there was a character of a woman in a red outfit who I played, i think she had a sword and there is a specific scene in the game where she is running through a graveyard fighting off zombies or some form of undead creatures..... can i be clear it is not resident evil...this game was around about the year 2000. She did fight a big creature which was what seemed to be a boss in this scene, it was a giant creature like in the first lord of the of rings when they were in the underground temple. Its quite an old game but if anything sounds familiar to anyone please let me know...it is contunously bugging me and my sister. :(

I'm looking for a genesis game. There was turn based combat as characters on a spaceship but you also flew the ship and fought pretty much anyone you came across. Among the space combat options were to fire missiles or lasers, to board the enemy ship if it was damaged enough or to even ram it.

when in character combat you had one of four characters who had a few types of weapons and skills in certain weapons. the biggest thing from the character combat was the needle weapon that looked like it fired an ellipses at you enemies.

This game used to be on the Sega Genesis way back in the day. You controlled an army but you were fighting against another army. You could pick to have grenade throwers, fire throwers, riflemen, assassins, and so on. It had something to do with General in the title but I can't think of what it was called or what ever the point of the game was. I do remember spending hours with my brother playing it whenever it would appear on Sega Channel.
