Metal Gear Solid
I've tried a few times at various stages of gaming but just cannot be arsed with them.
Friend of mine buys consoles on the strength of a new release...

Even 13, 10, 8, Legend (on the gameboy), 2(it's personal), Cristal Bearer, Crystal Chronicles, Chocobo Dungeon, Dissidia, Crisis Core, Crisis euh! The one on cellphone... You are still OK with all of those????
Yup. Legend isn't a real FF game, just got slapped with the label to sell so I don't count it. I liked 13 and 10. 8 was the first I played so I enjoyed that as well. All the Crystal Chronicles games were awesome. I love Dissidia and my lvl 100 Zidane. Crisis Core was better than 7. There's no possible way I coulda played Before Crisis but it looked interesting nonetheless.

What game are you talking about?
Pokemon Puzzle League of course. It was fantastic.
8 was my first too but i always stop before the Time compression bit because i can't take the pain anymore. But for a In dept analysis of FF8, I will point you in the direction of Noah "The Spoony One" Antwhiler and his 2 hours review of the game.

I liked Bioshock. Just liked. But Bioshock 2's multiplayer is terrible. And in the story it just didn't feel like I was playing as a Big Daddy, prototype or not. Also waiting for the Little Sister to suck up adam while I puppy guard her wasn't a strong point of the game either.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto, the formula just doesn't sit right with me. One of my friends go pissed at me and didn't speak to me for nearly two weeks because I refused to play multiplayer with him.

Meh, not even this guy can really sway me. I really enjoyed the game and the only reason I didn't beat it was because my disc got scratched and always crapped out during the fight with Ultimecia. It was a decent enough love story when you sit back and take all the info about it in. Plus the Junction system was awesome once you mastered it.

I love turn-based strategy such as Fire Emblem and Disgaea to death, and I've enjoyed every single core Final Fantasy I've played (6, 7, 10, 13). But I just cannot get into Final Fantasy Tactics.

I hate lots of "good" games: Bioshock, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Grand Theft Auto (and pretty much all of Rockstar's other games), and Dragon Age.

I would have said Final Fantasy in general, wouldn't I have tried Final Fantasy 6 a week ago, and Final Fantasy 7 two months ago...
Okay, the latter didn't appeal to me, because everything about the story was already spoiled, but FF6 is great and I will likely play through it!

The Call of Duty series (Modern Warfare's branch included) was never any fun to me, since I love shooters that do not take themselves to seriously.
I would rather play more Counterstrike (not the unappealing Source one, but the 1.6 version) or Team Fortress 2.

Now, besides that..
In the last couple of years, I tried playing more Fighting games, since the genre was always a big mystery to me (I only owned Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game ... I played it a lot to be honest).
I bought me a fancy Arcade Stick and started off with Street Fighter 4. It got boring, I returned it 2 days later and bought Blazblue instead, which was more fun, but absolutely frustrating online!
If there would not be Tekken 6, I would have said that I can not get into the whole genre, but lets just say Blazblue/Street Fighter are not my type.

Other than that, there are a lot of WRPGs, like Mass Effect (the original). I barely made it to the end because I got really bored, even though I actually enjoy most story based games...
I tried out Baldurs Gate, but I think I came to late, since I can not really enjoy it in any way.
As much as I loved Oblivion, I could not stand the setting in Fallout 3...
At least I think that the setting is the problem, even though I did have a lot of fun playing the original Fallout one month ago!

Honorable mention.... Arcanum!
THIS COMBAT SYSTEM DRIVES ME INSANE!!!
( Still trying to beat it though, since people tell me that it has a nice story)

Fallout 1/2
Half Life
Bioshock-I liked it, it just didn't find it to be amazing
Final Fantasy 12- if nothing else, let me at least click a button other then just starting combat. The FF games have always had sort of boring combat in my eyes, but FF12 took it to far. I felt like my entire job was to be the driver and take them all over them world so they could have fun.
Morrowind-I just don't get why people love it over Oblivion. Maybe the story is better (not hard to beat Oblivion), but the combat and movement is horrible. I think I'd like to move faster then a snail, and when I try to smack someone with a sword, I should be able to hit more then 1 in 10 times. I felt like Oblivion had a way better system for just messing around and having fun, the guild quests and exploring can entertain me for at least 30 or so hours, Morrowind dosen't even hold my attention for 1.
Starcraft 1- Everybody always talks about how the story is amazing. But I thought it was a sort of average story, just better then your normal RTS game. It's just not for my play style. I prefer having fun, doing things that will probably make me lose, but I still enjoy doing. Starcraft is all about winning in 5 minutes.

Personally I loved Fallout 3. I thought the first two Fallout games were horrible because I didn't feel like I was in the wasteland, more like I was just playing a really bad tactics game with some destroyed cars and building placed randomly. Fallout 3 at least had the atmosphere.

Modern Warfare 2.

I have no doubt that it's a competently made game with high production values. There are some questionable design decisions (such as the lack of dedicated servers on the PC version), but those are choices I don't agree with not mistakes.

But I hate it. I hate its juvenile fans. I hate that it's the mega-popular representative of all military first person shooters. I hate that it's full of gimmicky and impractical technology like miniguns mounted on Humvees, mall-ninja tacticool guns covered in accessory rails, riot shields, throwing knives, and dual-wieldable shotguns. I hate how half of the pistols are machine pistols and all of the sniper rifles are semi-auto. I hate how unoriginal and formulaic the entire series has always been and how it's been incredibly successful anyway. I hate that many people think it's "realistic" when it has more in common with Transformers than Generation Kill.

Final Fantasy - Turn based combat makes me want to rip somebody's arms off, especially when the game starts off with this absurd acrobatic fight scenes that I can't even play. Why can't I play that and in real time. Screw "Swing 5 food sword!" ... "Watch as random enemy bites me in the leg"

Halo 2 and 3 (played them), ODST and Wars (have not played them) - Too many things I didn't like, so overall I will just say I was not impressed. The gameplay is fine, but after the first game, I just could never have a fun time or take the characters, enemies, or plot seriously. The online was hampered by the players obscene lack of social awareness, etiquette, or, I'm going out on a limb here, hygiene. And after 3, I just felt like the series needed to tone it down and have some dignity. A console-exclusive RTS for Halo just seemed asinine to me, and ODST did not appeal because it looked (and apparently was) basically an overpriced expansion pack.Granted, I have more faith in Reach (not buying it though).

Fallout 3 - I loved Oblivion and I keep hearing good things about it, but after playing a little, I realized that I hate post-apocalypse. Oh gee, wasteland, wasteland, radioactive stuff, and more wasteland. The environment just bores the hell out of me, it's too desert/dead for my taste.

BOREDerlands, Halo 3 (although I am a big fan of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2), MW2, and Bad Company 2.

I'll jump on to the MW2 hate bandwagon. Also Final Fantasy and Halo (The 3rd one, the 1st and 2nd ones were fine).

Half Life 2 - I hate that game. Running [Or driving] from one point to another with lame encounters with no real use in between. Plain boring. Maybe it's a well made FPS but I really can't find any part I liked about it.
