(Number) XIII 3 times. It's a bit funny about that game actually: first bought it for the Gamecube and had it for a couple of years. Then I decided to buy a PS2. So I traded that game in with about a dozen other games. Then I really wanted it again so this time I bought it for the PS2. But that disc got a big crack in it, in some mysterious way, which rendered it unplayable. So I bought it, pretty recently, again for the Xbox. And it works perfectly! Yippie, happy ending!

Baldur's Gate 2. I fucking loved that game, and through a mixture of scratched discs and loss I bought it 3 or 4 times. It seems so sad to write down in front of me...

... And you bought it again? (Note: yes I'm part of the majority that didn't like the game, but I atleast tried playing through a few levels before coming to that conclusion)

OT:
Metroid Fusion, because my brother lost it
Final Fantasy Tactics: I traded it in because of a scratch on the disc... ON THE FINAL CUTSCENE.
Parasite Eve: Another scratch, this time earlier in the game.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance: Xbox fell over. Yeah, cut that disc up like Freddy Krueger.

Oblivion, first on xbox, years later when I had a good enough PC to play it on that for the expansions and the editor.

GTA3,VC,SA - about 3 times each. Once for myself when they came out on playstation, then again for myself when steam sold them for about 5e for all them, then again at the very same time for my girlfriend.

Audiosurf - twice, once for me, once for my girlfriend

Mass Effect - see oblivion. Bought it with my xbox 360. When I found out about the importing of the character into number 2, knowing I wanted to play number 2 on the pc (again good enough comp) rebought Mass Effect to play through it again.

Few games on the DS as well, old ports of NES games etc.

Yup! It's in my top 5 favourite games. I've no idea why, any game remotely similar to it, I hate.

One of life's mysteries I guess.

I've re-bought the 360 version of Oblivion twice, and I bought the PC version.
This.
Also, I ended up re-buying Warcraft III.
Not so proud of that, really.

I've traded in and then re-bought both Max Payne games and had to re-buy Prototype due to a long winded process that resulted in me losing it.

I bought fallout 3, loaned it to a friend who turned out to be an ass, he sold it to get red dead redemption. I'm still contemplating rebuying it.

Zelda Ocarina / Majora's Mask.

If only i could find the player's guide to the majora's though, i never did get good enough at it to 100% it. :( (I could use the online guides but not as much fun)

Also Quest 64, just because there is a bucket load of spells to find/use, still haven't 100% that either, but i need to replace the internal battery of my memory card and maybe solder it in place if i wish to.

Beyond Good and Evil. Both on steam and boxed.

Diablo 2, altough the second copy was for my gf...so I guess it doesnt count.

Alien vs Predator. I got the boxed, then the AvP2k edition on steam.

The one and only title I have ever re-bought: Advance Wars: Dual Strike for the Nintendo DS.

Only re-bought it because I presumed it stolen (along with my original DS).
I actually found it and the DS (in the DS) under my armoire about two weeks ago.

It sat there for four years. Lo and behold, it powered right back up, no charging necessary.

Mass Effect 2. I gave it away when I was drunk off of bourbon once (along with Red Dead Redemption, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed II, and Fight Night Round 4). I'll rebuy Red Dead Redemption soon because I never really even got to play it.

I'm a very generous drunk.

You think that's bad? The very next week he went bitching to everybody about how much he hated Red Dead Redemption and that it was a waste of money. (I haven't played it, but I've heard good things. Plus if it annoys him, then it's a win in my book.)

I bought Simcity 3000, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Audiosurf, the Deus Ex Collection and Psychonauts twice. And TF3 3 times.

I bought the first 2 games because little relatives (my little sister, at the time, and my little nephew) broke the discs. My sister thought it was fun to dance on my Simcity disc, and my little nephew thought he could take the SSBM disc out of the GameCube himself. He couldn't.

The other games were bought once for me and the other times as presents.

I might re-buy Oblivion as well. I hadn't finished it on my 360 (spent too much time screwing around) and I'm still curious about what things I haven't seen yet. But I have too many games at the moment as it is, I won't add a timesink like Oblivion to that just yet.
