Not that i ever hid it, just more of repressed it...

On Nintendo, there was a game called The Little Mermaid. It was so hard I was the only person in my whole family to ever get past the second level. The summer I had my tonsils removed, I played this game so much I almost beat it. I never touched it after that, but I was 9 at the time. My brother actually made me sit down and try to beat it because he wanted to see it. I got to the boss right before the final battle but just didn't beat him. I still remember the level design now that I think about it... Totally obsessed. I must now go shower in Beer to compensate for this unmanly confession.
Oh my God. Oh my God. This is the topic that finally made me register.

This is actually the game I thought of when I clicked on this topic. Sad thing was, I was actually, really, really good at this game and rented it multiple times growing up, and would sometimes beat it multiple times in a single day. I haven't seen that game in at least 14 years, but I occasionally think back to it with fond memories. It was a really fun little game and although I'd never tell anyone except my very best friend--even back when I was only 8 or 9--I really thought it was something else.

I cannot believe another person in this topic actually played The Little Mermaid. And liked it as much as I did. That's such a coincidence I can't even believe it. And now I'm going to download the ROM. Damn you, topic.

I own a game called Oni, a little-known anime inspired action game made by Bungie (yes, the guys who made Halo) on the PS2 as a launch title. It received generally unfavorable reviews for oversensitive controls, uninspired graphics, and repetitive gameplay with a kickass heroine at its helm, yet I actually found it quite enjoyable for the storyline and hand-to-hand combat mechanics.

It's a dark secret, because at the time (2001, I believe; I was about 11), I only got the game for the said heroine that starred in it (stupid boyish hormones going for games with hot virtual women...). Nowadays, I'm just starting to play through it again as a way to give it a second chance.
I have been trying to get my hands on that game for a while now. I saw a trailer for it a few years back, it came with myth 2 I believe (Bungie's BEST franchise IMO :p). But I noticed a strong relation in the art directions (main one being the similar "anime" styled cut scenes) despite one game being fantasy and the other a sci-fi. Hehe, come to think of it, Bungie's proudest moments lies in all their games but Halo :p (although I haven't played Marathon :p)

I (heart) Zoo Tycoon. But it's a love I dare not shout about.
It's about as complex as a celebrity biography but there is just something so adorable about watching your little elephants' and monkeys' playing with brightly coloured..things. Plus it's a nice respite from shooting things in their usually misshaped faces.

Hercules. I've put more hours into that game than I put into my level 70 on WoW.

..and of course, WoW. But I shook t'habit.

Öuhm... It'd have to be this strategy/rpg game a friend sent me once. It's great fun and very deep (deeper than... say Bahamut Lagoon) with lots of challenging levels, advanced strategic options, class changes and the like. The problem is that it's simultanously a hardcore hentai game : P

It doesn't bother me much personally, but I think it qualifies as something you wouldn't want to be caught dead playing, regardless of why you play it : )
What is the name of that game lol...but seriosly I like RTS and all of that stuff...and I do like hentai so it sounds just up my ally...and my dark secret games are runescape (I quit) and I don't have the games I am gonna mention but I REALLY REALLY want them (even though they arn't out in english I don't think but hoping/waiting for translations) one is Pure pure mimi to shippo no monogatari PC version (cus it's the hentai one lol) and D.N.Angel crimson wings because I am such a D.N.Angel fan.

Red Alert 2. Or is that a good thing? I think it may be....
Anywho, nobody in my family really cares that I still love Sim City 3000.

I got a huge load of old games when the library I did some IT work for a library. When they got rid of the game section I volunteerd to take the whole treasure trove home for 50 bucks. It was like finding a Dragon's Hoard.

Including such gems as:
Oni, Homeworld, Homeworld2, Alpha Centauri, Civ3, Pax imperium, The neverhood, Fragile Allegiance, Outpost 2, Planescape Tornment, KKND, Populous, Ceasar 3.

And pieces of manure, such as:
Empire of the Ants, Firewarrior, Machines, SimEarth, Starwars: The gungan frontier, Breed, Startopia, SW: Droidworks, G-Police, Dark colony, Arx fatalis, Thunder Brigade and a load of others i've yet to try.

So my list of dreadfull games is quite long, some I even liked.
Maybe liking Pax Imperium and Fragile Allegiance would be consideren a bad thing. I also liked Far Gate, possibly as the only living human being. I might also be the only person who made a win98 dualboot to get them working ;)

Creatures 1, 2, 3 and Docking Station. You tend to lose much respect from your FPS buddies in high school for merely knowing this game exists.

Blitz: The League. I love football but lack the patience for Madden. Plus I can name my custom team the Cleveland Steamers.

I'd say that making an entire thread based on the fact that you played it through to completion disqualifies you from naming it your "dark little secret."

Sims2 for sure... Tell anyone in the real life you're playing it (and enjoy it too) and they'll laugh in your face.

Barbie's Undersea Adventure. Enough said.

(Yes, I am male, and no, I have no idea why I played it. In my defense, I was really bored at the time, though that still doesn't really absolve me.)

That game was awesome and I hated Barbie. x333

There's a reason for that? I'm intrigued, what is it? Not taking the piss, I'm genuinely intrigued!
Holy crap, someone quoted me! =D

Sorry for posting again, but I have to answer this.

Rayman's main body, as portrayed in the first game, is made of electoons ( I have no clue what those are, I was talking with a friend who likes Rayman and she said the word ). I think the electoons in his main body might attract the ones in his hands and feet and keep them from falling off ( if they have them, Ubisoft is pretty tight-lipped about that ).

My friends won't stop asking this question, so I did some research and asked around.
