Because I'm pissed off tonight.

So I'm playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, not even on the last race in the series, and I have to do this god damned duel between a Bugatti Veyron and Koenigsegg CCXR.
The first time I tried it I hadn't unlocked the Veyron yet, so I was stuck with the Koenigsegg, which was a couple of miles slower, top speed wise.
I have a pretty good run, but during one of the hairpin turns towards the mountain area the game throws me a traffic car that swerves towards me as I attempt to drift past it, the Veyron takes the lead, and then stays there for the remainder of the race...
I say "fuck it" and go do some different races.
After that happens I unlock the Veyron and decide to go back to the dual.
"Ah hah! Now I have the better car!".
Same thing happens, except this time I have an even better run, even having the Koenigsegg crash into traffic twice and still catch fully up to me, run into a traffic car which swerves into me on the same hairpin turn, get overtaken by the slower top speed Koenigsegg, and then become completley unable to regain the lead...
Third try, I take all of the turns flawlessly, the Koenigsegg has been behind me the whole race, I don't crash into any traffic on the hairpin turns, and two miles before the finish I get overtaken doing full speed (which for the Veyron is a couple of miles over the Koenigsegg) and no matter how much Nitro I use I cannot catch up to him.
What the hell is this?
Am I not supposed to be able to finish first? The first two times I acknowledge that I messed up, but my final try I trump the Koenigsegg completely by using a faster car and it still smokes me easily and stays in front against all odds.
Needless to say, I raged and logged on here to complain about it...
Now post.

Sled Storm, it had the most OBVIOUS case of AI cheating I have ever seen in gaming.

Get ahead of the person in first place and suddenly thier jumps are twice as high, thier speed doubles and they use all the short cuts in ways you thought impossible.

Since that game I'm of the thought that most games (apart from Tekken where they keep you in the air with a combo and not let you down to get a perfect) are pretty fair :)

Burnout Paradise.
Only game where I was more scared of the civilian cars than the other racers.
But I'll give 'em props. When they went for the kill, they got it.

Most racing games have this problem, as seen in this thread.

Also, the past Madden games have been notorious for having "Comeback AI." It's when in the last quarter of the game, the other team will start making amazing passes/catches/runs and just being a complete stone wall on defense. I've never had it happen to me, but I've heard from many people were pretty pissed.

Many RTS games do this on harder difficulties. The computer basically stops holding back and uses its immediate knowledge of everything going on in the game, and its magic ability to manipulate 1s and 0s to make whatever it wants instantly.

Other than that, any RPG with a blatantly biased RNG. Pokemon comes to mind. Any attack with a 33% chance to hit has a more likely chance of around 10%, while an identical computer controlled version is more like 50%.

Well I'm not so sure it's cheating me, but I'm pretty sure Super Meat Boy is doing all it can to splatter my meaty goodness all over the place. I can't see why PETA whined about this game, you spend more time watching the "evil meat" die than being the hero. :p (And yes I am enjoying SMB immensely in case you were wondering)

Not only did Burnout Paradise not want me to win, it didn't even want to let me play. So I obliged it and left that awful mess on the shelf, never to see the the inside of my console again.

However, I do enjoy the ways Burnout Revenge cheats. THey usually end up only hurting themselves XD

Blitz the League. Both of them. Each time I would be ahead or win a couple of games, suddenly the AI was playing perfectly and caught all passes and always made me fumble.

The Monster Hunter series is actually pretty bad at some points with this. Boulders and things you can't run/shoot through look like safe spots, but THINK AGAIN!! The monster has zero trouble phasing right through it with ANY of its attacks.

The Lavasioth is particularly frustrating since (being a lava monster) it can dive through solid rock. That means it can burst up from right below you with almost no warning. Even though Portable 3rd looks cool, every time I think about it I remember all the sh*t I went through in Unite and my enthusiasm starts to wane.

The new Hot Pursuit pissed me off so much I was almost ready to write off the franchise (and I've been playing them since Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed ~1995)! For me it wasn't just the rubberband AI, but the horrendous driving mechanic. What did it in for me was about an hour into the game, I still haven't figured out what the hell this game wants me to do to go around a corner quickest, so I took the best RL line at the corner's max speed before you understeer off on a tangent (1st turn near the start of a track, so after many restarts I found the max speed) but still had AI cars (same car model) passing me on the inside while drifting! WTF! Add to that the automatic-only trans (and no, the user-made patch doesn't cut it), and no in-car view, it's just completely unsatisfying to drive.

What's worse is all these people saying it's "NFS back to its roots". How so? Every older (pre-NFS:HP2) game had in-car view, manual transmission and some semblance of driving physics relative to its contemporaries (ok, so not so much NFS1&2, but 3-5 you actually had to learn the tracks and what lines to take/at what speeds to succeed). At least, that was the case for those playing it on PC w/ a steering wheel. NFS Shift was IMO a huge step in the right direction, with awesome in-car perspective and somewhat realistic driving mechanics (with a few caveats). This new HP is IMO the worst-driving NFS game since NFS2(circa ~1997, which was still a great game and the driving was par for the course at the time), and it pisses me off that it's so popular. I don't care if the the chases are good, and there's some neat social-networking feature if the core mechanic (driving) is crap.

Sorry for the rant... Weirdest 1st post I ever made on a board, I promise.

Surprised Mario kart hasn't come up yet. that cheats you out of so many victories, (how many times must i be hit with a blue shell in 1 lap to still win) I practically had to do the special cup on 150cc and the shell cup mirror countless tries just to get star rank and finish unlocking everything

Wesnoth!!! Having 3 attacks each with 80% chance to hit and not landing a single one then the enemy hits you with all of their 30% chance to hit. Such a great game, its just "chance" isn't quite the meaning of the word.

Can't remember the other one but the computer knows where you are while your invisible and clearly just camps you out.

I have but I don't think it is being cheated out of a fair win for the game. It is just giving you the hint it hates you.

Replaying through Crisis Core on hard mode has lead me to get into fights where I have to hit an opponent 70 or so times at the damage limit and they can hit me once with an undodge-able attack and instantly kill me.

World At War and its grenades. I do not know how long it took me to do the last couple of levels but I do know that there was much rage involved in the process.

I've posted this in a lot of threads, but oh well.
Atelier Iris 2 pits you against Slaith's Reincarnation, a boss which has more health than Force Unleashed Darth Vader on an assortment of illegal substances, which, while spamming you with area attacks and buttraep, decides to start spam summoning enemies he deal quite a bit of damage and lower your defence. GRAH!....There are other bosses in that game as well, but that sticks out because it won't DIE

The last level on veteran of CoD:WaW. The second my big toe would leave the safety of the Reichstag wall, I would be bleeding from the eyes and my AI companions would be firing aimlessly completely unharmed. More than once I would shout," Shoot at them! They deserve it!" or,"How do I take off the magnet vest?!"
I'm so glad I finished Veteran. It was a *****.
