Dragon Age series- My bf and friends will not be quiet about how much they hate it. I agree there's serious writing and plot flaws, but it is my dark candy.

Tomb Raider, Angel of Darkness- It's random and doesn't have amazing graphics, but I thought the music and plot were really awesome.

KOTOR 2- Once again, I get complained at for liking it even though the first one was seen as better. Oh,and it has tons of glitching.

Indigo Prophecy- Menial things like controlling someone's breathing and dragging dead bodies somehow spoke to me more than some. I agree that some of the things you have to do are ridiculous.

Still Life- Some of the characters are horrible stereotypical and not always super smart, but the tone of this game blew my mind. So did scenery, plot, music and the villains.

I'll second Mirror's Edge; really liked it, but I LOVED Prototype!! Side missions aside, I feel they balanced the feeling of utter invincibility and badass-fullness with challenging gameplay that makes for a greatly cathartic experience. I wanted violence? Prototype delivered in droves.

I mean, c'mon?? Who played the opening sequence and wasn't utterly amazed?!? You ELBOW DROP A TANK from 20 stories up!!!!! I drooled on myself...

The Fable series.

I find all the games to be decent. They're not excellent, but I'd definitely consider buying a Fable 4.

And...

Metroid: Other M

OKAY OKAY,

Now I know the story wasn't very well presented, but I found the plot to be overall solid. Samus's out of character moments were few and far in-between, and fleeting to boot. You don't need a cut scene to tell you Samus is still her bad ass self when she ice-punches a fiery Dr. Seuss hellspawn in the face during gameplay.

Speaking of gameplay, I found it worked very well and had a great time blasting aliens in 3rd person for the first time in a metroid game since Fusion.

The game also had some clever bits, like the Ridley subplot (Infamous "OMG ITS RIDLEY" cut scene notwithstanding), and I was genuinely, pleasantly surprised when that came to a head. Another one would be when and where Samus chooses to risk harming the space station with a power bomb.

I really love Lara Croft and Tomb Raider. Granted the later games were pants but 1 and 2 were awesome when I was 16. I seem to have this idea of the character as intelligent and capable whereas everyone else just says she is a pair of boobs.

Was I playing the same games? :|

I think nostalgia helps with these sort of games. This was the first game I ever played that had shooting in it, so I worshiped it. My boyfriend recently pointed out that Lara is horribly selfish and is like a rebel without a cause. She decides to go find a relic and just shoots up whatever she feels like, including people and endangered animals. He says Indiana Jones makes a much better one. I have to agree, but I still don't care. I love her lol.

By the way, totally looking forward to the reboot!

Not sure if these count but most of my friends hate them so I guess they might be relevant.
Unreal Tournament 3 Crucible Mod
Wolfentstein 2009
Prey
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus
BlazBlue Calamity Trigger
basically all the CPS2 and 3 Capcom fighters \m/

I couldn't pay my friends to play them but I love em :).

Hmm...

Fable 3, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4, and KotOR 2.

In fact, I'm not really sure why these games are hated/disliked.

Fable 3 was greater than Fable 2 in my opinion (though TLC is still high on the list of my most beloved games).
People say Mass Effect's menu, customization, and combat was clunky, however I found it extremely enjoyable.
Halo 3 brought a pretty awesome conclusion to the series, and the forge community was AMAZING.
I liked The Force Unleashed 2 just because I understand exactly how Starkiller felt (insane, rage-filled love, the refusal to give up, the need for blood, etc. ). The game was just ridiculously short...
While unrealistic, the Tony Hawk's games were really fun... only up to the fourth one though.
And KotOR 2 had a fantastic story with my favorite character of all time in it (Kreia FTW). Though I understand why people hated KotOR 2, since Lucasarts rushed it out the door for the Christmas bandwagon, and the game is actually unfinished. Poor Obsidian...

Any contrasting opinions are always welcome! :)

To be fair she gets commissioned to find the scion and then fights back against Natla when it turns out she is nefarious. She didn't have to she could have just taken the money and walked away.

She also doesn't attack people or animals unless they attack her first. I think in one instance she actually tries to save Pierre DuPont who is her rival for one of the artifacts, if I remember correctly. I think your boyfriend has been watching Yahtzee's reviews :p

I'm looking forward to the reboot too although I am fearful of an Other M style mess on that front. :S

I thoroughly enjoyed Sonic Riders (the one for the Gamecube), probably because it was the game my friend always wanted to play.

I haven't played any other Sonic game, and I don't plan to.

Don't really know what others opinion of this game is, but I for one absolutely love Style Boutique, which is otherwise known as Style Savvy in the U.S. It's ridiculously addictive and well designed.

Mirror's Edge... seriously what is with all the hate. To me, the game is almost perfect. I just have some minor quibbles abou- you know what... fuck it. It's perfect. I said it: Mirror's Edge is fucking perfect.

Tenchu (all of them but especially Tenchu:Z) For some reason, everyone in the world hates ninjas. These people are gay. That's all I have to say about that.

I agree with all the Mirror's Edge comments. There are definitely some major flaws in the game, but it got so much right that I still consider it a classic. If they're smart about the on-again-off-again-we're-probably-gonna-maybe-make-it sequel then Dice could have a masterpiece on their hands.

FF7, FFX, FF12, FF13, DA2, Force Unleashed 1 and 2. I've heard people hate on these games many times, but I love each of them. Some more than others, but still.

For me, Lost Planet 2.
Yes, it has a massive multiplayer focus. Yes, the A.I can be dumb as hell, and yes, the story is just about non existant. But I love it, just the customization and that since there is little story and characterization you can play as YOU. The game basically screams for fanfics to be made of it. The graphics and atmosphere are also awesome, and the weapons are interesting (Shotgun SP anyone?)

BTW, I basically only play it single player.
