Devil May Cry 4, terrible game that could have been awesome. Phantom Dust is another that just needed tweaking to be awesome.

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. Because it takes a lot of skill to screw up a game about Vincent. And they did.
yes, around level 21 I rage quit it. I really wanted to finish it because of the investment I put into it but I couldn't get passed level 21, not because I sucked, because I hated the lack of a melee system (more of a system than his 3 different flails) and level 21 only had the enemies that were immune to your pistol ammo. It is a third-person shooter with no melee system to speak of, with your main (read: only) weapon being ineffective (most of the time they would be at range so you couldn't melee them). Before level 21 I liked the game.

Alone in the Dark (the newest one).

That game could have been so much fun if the concepts that made it up were better... ok much better! Seriously, when I read about it, I saw myself having so much fun making my own weapons out of scavenged junk but the game hardly followed up the concept at all.

So much potential...such a disapointment...

I wish Lost Planet had been good. I bought it so I could face swarms of bug-creatures but instead you faced a couple at a time and if there were more than that they wouldn't be that agressive at all. On top of that you fought other people with guns much of the time which is just old at this point.

(I'm not much a fan of boss fights either.)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Less Snake, more Banjo and Kazooie, more creative parts in stage builder, and more stages/games represented in general would've made it so much better.

Brutal legend (please don't hurt me !) I just did not like the controls for the stage battles, and that IMO is the fly in the soup in that game.

The story and humour are spot on, (which i was hoping from double fines other games would be intact).

Oh and one last thing, the side missions grated after a while when i really wanted one of the last axe upgrages and had to do the same thing over and over. (yay for XP grinding)

Pretty much the entire Turok series. You have a game about a time-travelling Native-American who shoots electricity at dinosaurs in space....and yet somehow they managed to make that not fun.
I found Turok: Dinosaur Hunter to be quite enjoyable, but the rest of them were craptastic. Especially Turok: Evolution.

OP: I found Red Faction: Guerilla to be quite boring same goes for CoD 4.
I was unlucky. Turok: Evolution was my introduction to the series. <_< Yes, my uncle is no longer allowed to buy me video games after that.

Chess Titans (!)
i agree with age of conan, could have been more fun than "look at me in a naked necro" yes i did what yahtzee did, only i did it first =p
- tenchu stealth assassins 2 could have been good: but they broke it, almost made me leave console gaming altogether.
- Loki heroes of mythology: they could have put some thought into their camera angles and p[layer controls, and... gave it a story...
- star wars galaxies: it would have been fun... if it didnt suck
- the total recall NES game: yes, it could have been fun, dont ask me how tho.
- the god of war series: if i hadn't watched my ex roommate play it rather ineptly, it could have been enjoyable (the jump button is ALWAYS the same button)so... a mindwipe?

Assasins Creed

I had looked forward to this game, as I am a fan of both stealth games and open world environments. I found the game to be too expansive for what little there is to actually do, the assasination missions were less than impressive, and the "guard alert" system was a little too anal. But, the climbing, graphics, and controls were all pretty good. It had a lot of potential to be a great game, but as Yahtzee said, it was fun for "faffing about" but that's all. I am tempted to buy Assasins Creed 2, but I think I will wait until I either hear rave reviews about it, or until it's price drops.

The STALKER series. They're not really that bad, but they could've been so much better that it makes me cry.
FO3 and TES4. Same as the above.

I was disappointed by the lack of freedom in Red Faction Guerilla. And also, why don't the buildings rebuild themselves? I don't care about the reasons for this - blowing stuff up in that game is a ton of fun, and when they take that away from you it's just a fat bummer.
Weird - it really pissed me off when the buildings did rebuild themselves for story missions, etc. It was like, I went to all this effort planting charges, hammering guards and carefully collapsing a tower into the main building, and then 5 minutes later BAM! It's back with all the pesky guards and rock solid architecture.

I did enjoy Red Faction Guerrilla but I guess it could have been a bit better. Like making the number of EDF troopers finite. But I can forgive the game anything when you can drive a car through a wall and then blow it up.

Ever heard of the Panzer Dragoon series on the Sega Saturn (there was also a game for the original xbox), Lair was a crappy rip-off of those games. Without the awesome art direction and fantastic post-apolyptic story.

Red Faction: Guerrilla - Seemed like the PC version was trying a little too hard to be like the console version.

Spore - Original previews looked great, but of course they had to make it 5 year old friendly...

Halo - Maybe if it was good I wouldn't cringe every time I heard people talking about how awesome it is...
