Hellgate: London.

If it wasn't a 3D game, and was more like a top down, Diablo, type game it would have been much better.
This, however, I think the way they had the hunter classes were dead on. I think Hellgates main problem was its engine, it was bugg-fucked to hell. (no pun intened)

Pretty much the entire Turok series. You have a game about a time-travelling Native-American who shoots electricity at dinosaurs in space....and yet somehow they managed to make that not fun.
I found Turok: Dinosaur Hunter to be quite enjoyable, but the rest of them were craptastic. Especially Turok: Evolution.

OP: I found Red Faction: Guerilla to be quite boring same goes for CoD 4.

Ninjabread Man. It sounds amazing in concept, but when I rented it, I got a hour long tech demo without a boss. And they're making a sequel.

Man... A LOT. Some dear to my hear though:

Dawn of War 2 - Hey, lets take a really good formula for an RTS and totally freakin' BREAK IT, that'll be fun, right?

Deus Ex: Invisible War - Beyond the technical gaffs the game just wasn't nearly as good as the first and the retooling did it absolutely no favors in boosting its likability.

Clive Barker's Jericho - Squad of special ops occultists? Check. Hoards of hellish daemonspawn? Check. The namesake of the guy who brought us the amazing Undying? Check. Now tell me, HOW do you screw THAT one up???

Every MMO out there - sorry, I keep hoping maybe someone will try something,yanno... different.

Personally I loved Hellgate and *especially* for the fact that it actually made you control your character rather than just click stuff on the screen.

Xenogears. I sloughed through that because I was not going to let it beat me. There was this tower thing that got you to the good floating city that had some retarded platforming sections. It was old skool in the sense that if you miss landing exactly in the center of the thing, you will fall down to the beginning and have to do it all over again. I beat that after 7 hours of trying. After that, you jump on the story train and have little control over the rest of the game.

Oh, I liked it, but I just thought the engine was horrid.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

building the greatest physics engine of all time doesn't buy you points in my book if your game is a pile of shit, and a $60 pile of shit at that (at the time I bought it)

I always get a little disappointed when Spore appears on these threads. I realise that this is just my opinion, but I really liked that game. Oh sure, it could've been better, but I wasn't as disappointed by it as most of the internet is. And I kinda think that's part of the charm. I never spent much time playing the game anyway, though. I just loved the creators.

I was disappointed by the lack of freedom in Red Faction Guerilla. And also, why don't the buildings rebuild themselves? I don't care about the reasons for this - blowing stuff up in that game is a ton of fun, and when they take that away from you it's just a fat bummer.

I really wish Turok had been good. Killing dinosaurs with guns was great on the N64, but the jump to the current-gen consoles was lousy in every aspect.

The Xenosaga series as a whole could have ben alot better then it was. The first one was all right but after that it just went down hill fast. Between the character reconstructs, which I thought were unnecessary, as well as the over use of cut scenes and redesign of the mech combat it just over all sucked.

It was very sad having played Xenogears which had very few cut scenes and about 60 hours of game play. Xenogears was a masterpiece in my opinion even with its rushed train ride of a 2nd disc. It was also probably the best RPG of the PS1 generation. How the hell you just pull a 180 and do the total opposite of the original game and think it will be just as good is beyond me.

Any Naruto game, because I'm a great fan of Naruto but every game they've made has been pretty bad.
I have to agree, atleast the ones that were actualy released in the US. I played a few of the Game Cube games that were only released in Japan and they were much more fun then the newer ones. Nothing like 4 player 3d fighting goodness.

Halo 3: storyline=crap
How was Halo 3's storyline crap? I know it can be hard to understand, but once you do it's epic.
understand? ya i understand it, its just absolute dogshit that makes the non-existant storyline in UT2004 look good
only Halo 1 has a well writen storyline, everything else is blatently crowbared and sledgehammered into place

COD5. I actually don't think it's bad, I just think it could be improved. There's such potential in it, they just didn't pull it off quite right.
