Metro 2033. I just wished it was a little more warmly recieved.

But hey, we get a sequel so fuck yeah.
Same here, it still is a damn good game. Ever read the book?

Personally I wished Rage was a whole lot better. If only they looked a wee bit at Fallout for example. Sure the open world and the possibilities were there. Only cut of by the linear gameplay. Sure missed the exploration.

Psychonauts. Partly because I feel I've wasted my money, but also because there are some really good ideas in there. I simply can't excuse the platforming. At best it's fiddly and at worse it's damn near impossible. The combat is equally rubbish. I know the rest of it is great but I simply cannot enjoy a game with bad gameplay no matter how good the story is.

Altered Species: Vampire Rain.
So much potential. So, so much potential. It could have been a Metal Gear Solid game, but with vampires.
Instead, I got a solid piece of shit that I lit on fire and flung into mount doom to rid the world of its evil.

The Force Unleashed Games. I really wanted a good Star Wars game. Though I found the first game Ok, the loading times were atrocious. There were loading times when you wanted get to your inventory to change the colour and effect of your lightsaber. Loading times when upgrading force powers. Loading times, loading times everywhere !

The Second failed miserably: story sucked, it was 6 hours long and it was just really boring. The "kill this enemy by doing X" technique wasn't executed properly at all. Instead of adding variety to the fighting aspect of the game, it just forced to use certain attacks. Can't think of another one at the moment.

Spore *nasty words directed at EA*

Perhaps this is misplaced; Spore's not a bad game by any stretch, it's damned sure not a great one, though. Spore started my boycott (of everything EA but BioWare games, the exception that was removed on DA 2's release). I've never been more excited for a game and more disappointed by the execution.

The game in and of itself is perfectly passable and enjoyable on various levels, excellent in some. It was just so over managed to try to become the next Sims that every damned playthrough feels exactly the same, something that should have been impossible. I had dreams of spending weeks in the various stages, only to find actual play rendered virtually pointless after 5-10 minutes, 20-45 minutes, 30-45 minutes, 30-45 minutes and then get dropped into a virtually empty sandbox.

It's this same over-managed tinkering that's made BioWare games unbearable for me now. BioWare games were never perfect, they just feel so.. corporate, now.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

It just had that promise to be good, but fucked up along the way. I wanted to like it, I really did. But it was just terrible.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
------------------------------
It's actually rather amazing how unlike a Silent Hill title this is, it's insulting.

Persona 3: FES (This is the big one for me)
--------------
After beating Persona 4 I immediately ran out and bought Persona 3: FES, this was a huge mistake. To keep a long explanation short, it lacked everything that made Persona 4 engrossing and wondrous. But hey, it's still better than 90% of the abominations passing off as RPG's these days and speaking of abominations. . .

Final Fantasy 7-8-10 and onward.
--------------------------------
7 was alright but highly overrated, I expected more from such a major franchise.
8 made me worry about the direction the series could take after experiencing this garbage.
10 completely ruined the name, never again would I be capable of enjoying another FF game.

Zelda Twilight Princess
-----------------------
Now it's not that I didn't enjoy myself with this game from time to time but I really didn't like the direction. It seemed as if Nintendo was testing the waters to see how well they could convert the series to appeal to the modern crowd of gamers. It was much less colorful and lacked the large variety of wacky characters previous games in the series presented and came off as a little lifeless. I have yet to play Skyward Sword to see if they reverted back to their roots or if they continued with this development, any opinions on that?

EDIT: I would like to add Super Smash Brothers Brawl as well, I liked the game but I hate the "tripping" and how much shorter the sword Marth carries is.

Far Cry 2 for me. Now, i liked Far cry 2, but it had so many problems. The missions were all a variation of "go somewere, shot everyone (and i mean EVERYONE) and blow something up" . I liked the map and the gunplay and the "feel" of the game, but so much was missing. Also co-op would be AMAIZING!
Far cry 2 Co-Op =

To be honest, i didn't mind the "Go somewere shoot everyone" missions, as i could turn into my own mission by just driving to it in a different way (I.e. Chase zebras in a jeep)

Bionic Commando. Oh man that looked so sweet in the trailers. Mike Patton voicing Spencer?! Then it came out... Ba bawww.

Just based on the name alone, I wanted Ninjabread Man to be good. Should try get ahold of the IP and make it good...

Every Kingdom Hearts game excluding the original, and possibly Chain of Memories (which loses massive points for linearity).

But I'm gonna focus on 358/2 Days because god damnit is that game a mess.

358/2 Days has one of my favorite video game endings ever, especially since we all knew what was going to happen. However, the game has without a doubt the most mashy combat in an already mash-heavy series, it outright recycles and cuts the corners on the bad KHII levels, and the way we get to the ending is more or less a solid 20 hours of people running away from the call.

Granted, I found the pace of "Go to 'work', finish, see little character moments," was a refreshing change of pace from typical video game story, and that combined with the diary made it a far more intimate experience. However, there's just enough of Xion not being around causing shit not to happen to really, really get on my nerves, and frankly, I really like that character. It's a damn shame that the combined ending of this and then Kingdom Hearts II end up killing the most interesting parts of the KH universe.

Oh, wait.

Anyways, honorable mention also goes to Birth by Sleep, because, as opposed to 358/2, I cannot think of anyway that that travesty could've been any better. Or rather, I can think of so many ways, but only in ways that fundamentally change the game that was made, whereas 358/2 really needed some editing and originality whereas BbS needs a complete, ground-up redesign and the script needs to be burned in the same fire in which someone should also place the US tax code.

Oh, and yes, after reading backwards, I have this to say:

(scuse me while I Hulk here for a second)

FINAL FANTASY XII:
WHY U NO GOOD OR BAD?
WHY YOU SO "MEH" ON END ANALYSIS?
STORY END JUST WHEN HULK FIGURING OUT THE SOCIO-POLITICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE ARCHADIANS AND ROSARIANS!
CHARACTERS TAKE TURNS DEVELOPING AND THEN STOP BEING OF ANY IMPORTANCE!
WHY U NO FOCUS ON BALTHIER?
SELF-AWARE SHWASHBUCKLER FAR MORE INTERESTING THAN UNCANNEY VALLEY MALE PROSTITUTE THAT SQUARE DEMANDED FOR PROTAGONIST.
COMBAT SO OFTEN BRUTALLY BORING DUE TO GAMBITS, BUT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT OTHERWISE?
WHY SOUNDTRACK SO GOD AWFUL?
YOU COULDN'T HAVE HIRED YASUNORI MITSUDA?
OR YOKO SHIMOMURA?
THEY BOTH HAD AWESOME RECORDS WITH YOU BEFORE THAT, LONG BEFORE THAT IN FACT. LONG ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY HANDING OVER THE CELEBRATED POSISTION OF FINAL FANTASY COMPOSER.
AND HOW DID THE SAME GUY END UP COMPOSING THE FANTASTIC FFXIII SOUNDTRACK?
THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL!
ONLY GOOD PART OF GAME! (STORY HONESTLY A MIXED BAG, TO BE FAIR.)
WHY TRANSLATION, DIALOGUE, AND VOICE ACTING SO GOOD, BUT MIXING MAKE ENTIRE GAME CALUSTROPHOBIC?
THE WORST PART IS, I CAN'T EVEN CALL YOU BAD! THE CHARACTERS HAD THINGS GOING FOR THEM! THE STORY WAS DAMN INTERESTING RIGHT UP TO THE VERY UNJUSTIFED ENDING. GAME LOOKED REALLY GOOD WITH SINGULAR EXCEPTION OF VAAN! CHARACTER MANAGMENT REFRESHINGLY DEEP! YOU HAD THE MAKINGS OF A GREAT GAME! BUT INSTEAD YOU MAKE MEDIOCRE GAME. WHY SQUARE? WHY?

AND WHILE WE'RE TALKING, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED WITH KINGDOM HEARTS II?

AND WHEN ARE WE GETTING A RELEASE DATE FOR VERSUS XIII? I'M ACTUALLY LEGITIMATELY HYPE FOR THAT, THE TRAILERS ARE ALL FANTASTIC, THE GAMEPLAY WILL AT LEAST BE LOTS OF FUN ALMOST AS A GUARANTEE, AND IT'S LOOKING LIKE THE FIRST LEGITIMATELY GREAT STORYLINE IN THE SERIES SINCE FINAL FANTASY IX. KEEP WORKING ON IT. AND RELEASE THE SOUNDTRACK CD ASAP, BECAUSE I HAVE A FEELING IT'LL BE THE BEST EVER. SHIMOMURA HAS SURPASSED UEMATSU AND MITSUDA AT THIS POINT, AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THIS SOUNDTRACK MAKING ME SHED THE LEAST MANLY TEARS. SERIOUSLY, HURRY THE FUCK UP.
