It usually takes me some time to adapt when playing an older game, but I don't let shoddy visuals hold me back. The fact I've been playing Dwarf Fortress almost exclusively since the new version was released is proof of that!

Feel a bit sorry for anyone who can't do the same. I mean someone in this topic mentioned Baldur's Gate! That game isn't even that old, hell, Baldur's Gate 2 I think still looks fantastic with it's high-res artwork and 3D spell and environmental effects. Yer missing out on one helluva amazing game. And Dragon Age: Origins? Seriously? The game looks fantastic. Sure it doesn't match up to Mass Effect 2 visually, but when you consider DA:O is a much more open experience, that's hardly surprising.

That's not to say there aren't a ton of games I *wish* had better visuals, as it certainly makes a game easier to play if the visuals are solid. But if the games good enough it's worth taking the time to adapt!

Morrowind
Agreed, but i probably wouldn't have even cared had the game let me play for more then a half and hour to an hour at a time. Or at least didn't freeze every time i left certain dungeons and make me reload from my last save.

I'd probably buy the old fallouts online if they had better graphics as well. I'd like to get a better grasp of the story and i would like to try out the combat system, as long as its Fire Emblem style not Age of Empires.

Morrowind- Definitely should not have played Oblivion before it. It looked horrible.

I wouldn't play things more siimply for a visual improvement, but I play Fallout 3 a lot and it certainly wouldn't suffer from some better graphics and/or character animations.
I swear if that game had better player/environment interaction and animations it would have gotten 10's across the board.

Graphics shouldn't matter to anyone.
I do agree with that statement but it would be fun to try and play Populous: The Beginning on modern graphics, it is funny to see the 2D figures run across the 3D landscape though :)

Graphics to me are like explosives to monkeys... awesome to have, but not entirely necessary.

I think its not so much the graphics to me as the production values. There is a certain timeless value to some of the older games that had really good art for their time. I actually prefer the visuals of Morrowind to that of Oblivion, for example.

Fallout 3, Need for Speed Underground 2, NFS: Most Wanted, and Sly Cooper 2/3. Also, the two latest COD games could use some animation/graphics updates.

Pac-Man. It like seems so old and totally stupid.

SARCASM. I think graphics should be third after story and gameplay.

If KotOR (both I and II) had modern visuals, I would have a tough time putting down those games.

As it is, I'm obsessed with the two already, but improved visuals would sweeten the deal even further, to compliment already-excellent stories and gameplay.

Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons. Seeing the Seasons change before your eyes would be awe-inspiring to say the least.

Personally, I don't have a real example; however, if DA:O had better visuals and gameplay, I would never eject the disk.
DA:O has some of the best visuals I've ever seen in a game, and I had to turn the settings down somewhat. I cannot imagine how awesome it'd be if my computer5 was a bit more up-to-date.

Having thought this over some, if Darksiders had some proper art direction I could probably be enticed into playing it. I like the idea of a God of War clone that doesn't require me growing a third arm and having the reflexes of a spastic cat off its ritalin to conquer but the visuals of the game just seem so overwrought and cheesy that it was a turn off for me.

I downloaded a hi-res texture pack for OoT on PJ64. I'll upload a comparison I made. After a while I changed back to the original graphics because while the textures look good when standing still, they look all grainy and stuff when you are moving. It was good while it lasted.
