half Life and System Shock 2 would see more play time from me if the corners weren't so svarp.

But I still love them regardless

It's be nice to play Silent Hill with updated graphics. Don't even get me started on the crap remake. I mean just the first game, updated.

Graphics shouldn't matter to anyone.
Because everyone loves being able to count the number of pixels their game is displayed on with the fingers of two hands.
If a game is defined solely of its graphic detail, than that's really sad. I don't care about the level of detail. Sure, it's nice to see realistic faces and objects, but it shouldn't be crucial. I'd play Deus Ex any day over Crysis.
I don't like playing games that don't look good. It snaps the immersion right in half, and I get easily bored of them. If a game is visually appealing and vibrant, chances of me liking it are higher.
That's probably because of your age. You probably got spoiled with great graphics right from the start. To me, graphics don't matter. I was fully immersed into System Shock 2 waaaaay more than into Doom 3, despite the shitty graphics. And I even played Doom 3 before SS2. I also find FF6 more immersive than any other FF out there. Graphics are not that important. If they are so important to you, you aren't that much respective of games. Graphics aren't the core of a game, unless you have a very limited imagination.

You're right. It's probably directly linked to my age, and exposure to gaming. My age prolly also has to do with the fact that I haven't and won't touch any 'old' games. Also, I never said graphics were the core of the game. I just said I appreciated games with good visuals, as it makes the game more interesting. If a game has good graphics and shite plot, I'll dismiss it, unless there's another factor keeping me playing it.

Well I don't think I'd ever stop playing dwarf fortress if it had lovely graphics, as it is I can just about deal with them using a graphic pack.

I just find it hard to work out what and where everything is with the default graphics, which is not helpful when I've just got my hunters crushed by a ravenous elephant I'd mistaken for a cuter animal.
