Dragon Age 2 I'll forgive, because it's still a competent game with a decent storyline.
Metro2033 I'll forgive for its creativity, nice environments, and awesome potential that I'm sure will be realized in Last Light.

I see a lot of people mentioning KOTOR 2, but I cannot forgive that game and its horrendous ending >_>

Well... Dwarf Fortress is imposibly complex and you need a tutorial to be able to START the game, but once you do... You stil need a tutorial(s) to play at all. But once you get trough that... this game can sometimes be a lot of !!Fun!!.
Plus KotOR2, Cortex Command and Osmos.

Brink. A few mechanical issues, but damn I keep going back to it.
This. It's just so addictive! Even doing the single player challenges with the unforgiving AI is fun, and also rewarding as you get EXP every time!
I know. I'm such an XP whore. Seeing those numbers climb just makes me want to play more and more xD

Fallout: New Vegas.

When it first came out, I was incredibly disappointed in it, I found the new crafting options needlessly complicated, the story uninspired, the graphics dated, the radio playlist unforgivably short and lacking in any really good songs that even remotely fit the setting (seriously there are three songs on the main radio station that feature yodeling and absolutely zero songs by Elvis, despite a large gang of Elvis impersonators featuring prominently in the city of New Vegas itself) and the absolute dearth of memorable characters to be just the final nail.

I didn't even bother to finish it the first time around, and then recently, after being horribly disappointed with Red Faction: Armageddon, I tried New Vegas again and lo and behold, it was a hell of a lot better than I remembered it.

Granted, all of the above issues were still issues, but I found I didn't nearly mind it so much.

The moral of the story is, if you have an old game that's pretty good but not great, buy Red Faction: Armageddon and make that old game look fucking spectacular by comparison!

(I will not forgive RF: Armageddon. Linear like a string is not necessarily bad, more heavily based in a single story is not necessarily bad, cave levels are not necessarily bad, but when the linearity includes punishments for leaving the beaten trail, when the single story is fucking abysmal, featuring characters that are blatantly retarded, bland like unflavored yogurt and ridiculously unlikeable and you spend nearly the entire game in a cave - in a series that is devoted to blowing up buildings, no less - there, my friend, is a completely unforgivable game. Better names for this game would have been Red Faction: Everybody On Mars Is Retarded or Magnet Gun: Someone Put This Weapon In A Better Game.)

Duke Nukem Forever. It has the spirit, but not the execution. If there where 2-4 times the amount of enemies, health packs and armor, more unique ways of executing opponents to regain health, and the ability to hold on to more then 2 guns, it would have been much better.

I don't think you should be able to hold every gun, but I think there could be categories for the weapons and have one weapon per category. i.e. one pistol slot (add a alien pistol or a magnum for variety) one ripper/shotgun/alien machinegun slot, one big gun slot (rpg/enforcer/rail gun) then a "special" slot (Freeze gun/Devastator/Add some alien bfg thingy). You have to make a decision about what weapon you want to keep on you without feeling too limited about what you can bring to a fight.

I like DNF so far... but I keep getting this feeling that it would have been way better if gearbox just went total old school instead of hp regen only 2 gun trying to be cod bullshit.

Alpha Protocol and Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines are both incredibly buggy games but a hell of a lot of fun

also I've forgiven Oblivion despite my initial dislike of the game. I gave it another go and thanks to the hard work and talent of the modding community and Bethesda's distribution of the construction kit most of the flaws have been fixed and I'm enjoying it. not quite as much as Morrowind but that's a hard act to follow anyway. I wish more companies (and especially MS and Sony for our console gamer friends) would embrace the custom-content-creation rather than just tolerate it and in some cases even oppose it

Jade Empire is also a fantastic game that suffers from some poor reviews and until Dragon Age 2 some considered it to be BioWare's worst game. personally I disagree and found it to be a very enjoyable and rather unique game

Jade Empire I enjoyed as well. I still can't figure out who on Earth thought those shooter (and if you haven't played it I mean proper vertical scrolling, button-mashing arcade shooter bits) sections fitted into an RPG. Mind you, I'm also a sucker for Arena/Gladiatorial sections in games and seemed to remember a whole section of the game playing with that idea.

I agree with most of the criticism but dispite all its flaws it was still one of the best gaming experiences I've had in recent years.
This 100% and i keep hoping for news of a sequel

sadly not likely, at least from what I've been reading. apparently Sega don't even think it's worth investing in patches for the game yet alone a sequel

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is actually a game I somewhat resent for the fact that it was the beginning of the series' descent into safe, semi-linear just "Pretty Damn Good," following up the greatness that was Link to the Past more superficially than anything else.

But I'll forgive it because A) it's still fun, B), Twilight Princess is worse, and C) it paved the way for Majora's Mask, the game that I feel is the greatest of all time.

Postal 2 after some heavy modding (Mainly AWP): This is a huge guilty pleasure. It's poorly programmed, tasteless, pointless, and whenever someone tries to argue that video games are murder simulators - I can't argue with them in defense of Postal 2 because it kind of is. Yet with the AWP mod, all the new weird weapons and stuff help me blow off steam. Whenever I want to punch someone in the face, I just boot up Postal 2 and start unleashing my horde of man-eating cats at people and laughing as they all run screaming from the little Tazmanian Devil cats that juse ate their friends.

I do too. I haven't played FC1, so I can't compare the unrelated nature of the two. I think that with more variety, FC2 could have been something truly special - I really liked the idea of playing a merc in a free roaming FPS game, its biggest flaw for me was the lack of variety though I still had fun overall.

So...that.
Not to nitpick but kotor 2 was made by obsidian. I agree though; despite its bugs (oh god there's so many) and other flaws, I love that game. Also, Mirrors Edge. And Dragon Age 2.

Like most others, I can forgive Dragon Age 2. Granted, I wasn't one of the ones partaking in the whole "BioWare iz ful of HAX!! dey suk!!" shebang, but even I could recognize the game's faults - the "copypasta" dungeons, the strangely told over-arching storyline (it wasn't bad, just poorly executed, I think), the over-simplicity of some of the quests, et al. But the fact that it being BioWare's worst game while still being someone good as a game still speaks volumes (which a lot of people, even here, seem to forget).

That's all I can think off of hand. I was gonna X-Blades, but it would actually need some decent tweaking before I would consider that one worth my time again.

Alpha Protocol by far the lowest rated game that I loved. I'm so bored of tedious combat and on-rails level design and it was refreshing to have some really interesting narrative interaction and an innovative conversation system that felt more real because you don't pause to give your responses and don't cycle through the same parts multiple times to try different paths.

I really really loved Yakuza 3 too, even though the combat was generic and uninteresting, but it's quite highly rated.

I'm also going to say Mass Effect 3 here controversially. I didn't think it was much better than Alpha Protocol, with generic linear levels and terrible combat, it was only saved by it's great characters. The plot and writing weren't very good, and neither was the narrative choices which basically boiled down to just one choice made at the very start - paragon or renegade. So for combat, alpha protocol is equal (and maybe even a little ahead because of the stealth options, but a little behind in other areas), the minigames were also much much better (mass effect surely has the least imaginative hacking game ever) and for level design mass effect is a step above but still a disappointment and lacking much society compared to fallout or rockstar games, and for narrative choices alpha protocl is actually ahead, but behind slightly on characters and plot.

Same I'm playing it now.
But I don't see too many flaws apart from the respawning checkpoints.
Just to name a few of the things I didn't like:
The A.I. can spot you from 50 feet away in the underbrush and as soon as they see you they can all hit you from there.
The map is far too huge. The good thing is that you will never have a mission in the same place twice.
I didn't think the buddies/buddy quests were written out as well as they should've/could've been.
(and a little thing, why can you only have 1 quest at a time? seriously.)
And why are all the A.I. you meet outside of the main city always super hostile? I've noticed that if they can they will always hop in a car and try to hunt you down. Which seems a little extreme. Or means they didn't put a lot of work into the A.I. system.

But I like more things about Farcry 2 than I dislike. It has good gameplay, excellent fire mechanics and a solid story.
