COD, in any iteration. I'm sick of games being compared to it and I'm sick of hearing about their yearly instalments. I'm stick of hearing about new map packs and everything else to do with the game.
That's the only series I'm sick of hearing about. It just had to come yearly with most of the same problems so I just have to hear that shit over and over, as well as it being advertised fucking everywhere! And the worst part is hearing my brother playing it all the time and complaining how broken it is. It's a fucking disease.

I think any game can get annoying if people prattle on about it often enough. However most recently, I think I am sick of hearing about how Dark Souls is the greatest artistic masterpiece ever devised or some kind of expertly crafted thesis on difficulty in video games.
Hint, it's not.
It wouldn't be so bad but the fans always come off as exceptionally arrogant when they talk about it. That is probably the real thing that bugs me, more than the game itself. Mediocre games come and go but annoying fans are forever.

All the so called Final Fantasy fans that whine in every Square Enix related thing to remake FF7 and release Versus 13 and KH3... And complaining about how FF13 was too linear.

Well...I'm gonna jump on the Dark souls bandwagon. I respect it for what it's trying to do and for some of it's gameplay mechanics but, overall it's just kind of clunky and it isn't so much difficult as it is akin to beating your head against a brick wall until the wall breaks. Plus, whoever made the Capra Demon boss fight needs to be forced to play through the game as a deprived with only the starting equipment.

I ultimately do think these guys could make a good berserk game if they refined everything a bit more.

I agree about not remaking FF7: It's a good game, but it wasn't the best game ever made and we still have the old one there so i see no reason to rush a remake out. KH 3...i would like it but i don't see a rush for it, what i WOULD like is for them to release some of their portable KH games on PS3 or something though and have them make up their mind on which consoles they're going to actually put the series on.

I disagree on Versus 13: That game could literally sell like hotcakes and all Enix seems to be doing is fucking around with us about it. What we've seen looks awesome and like a more interesting experience then the actual Final Fantasy 13 and yet Enix doesn't seem to want to release a game that will sell like crazy. It wouldn't be so bad if they actually kept us updated about it, but they don't...they seem to just forget the game exists and seem to be hoping we do too.

And FF13 was too linear.

I think SE is scared of having a DNF situation... And I'm kinda jealous that it's a PS3 exclusive.

Pretty much all the FF games are linear, this was just the first game that didn't hide it.

Skyrim. We fucking get it, you have a character cleverly named or you do stuff that everyone in the universe has done.. Unless the topic on a new DLC, stop posting Skyrim related topics.

Lets try a topic without Skyrim for 7 days.

Call of Duty.

On one side, you have the fans. One the other side, you have "CoD must die" brigade.

In the middle, you have the rest of us who just don't give a fuck. It's one of those games that seems to be talked about everywhere I go on the old internet. It's an average shooter with a popular multiplayer, that's all the conversation it needs.

It's not so much the conversations about Dark Souls that irritates me it's the fans.

"Dark Souls is a hard game".

No, no it isn't. It's a game that punishes you for making a mistake. It's a game that wants you to grind.

Once upon a time nearly every game we had was like that.

But it's the talk of easy mode that gets annoying. The hard mode is still there so IT MEANS FUCKING NOTHING. Get over it for fucks sake.

"But we want to feel superior because we like it HAAAAAARD".

That doesn't make you superior and constantly bleating on about it makes you a dick.

Funny enough, I've gotten tired of talking about Dark Souls. I love the game and all, but that doesn't mean you can't get tired of hearing or talking about it. :p

Ha. This. If I see one more thread about an easy mode...

Skyrim was bad about a year ago. Way too many Skyrim threads. I liked the game too, but that doesn't mean everybody needs to make a thread about every single thing in the entire game. Even us Dark Souls fans didn't do that, and there few fans more fanatic than those of Dark Souls.

Exactly. I really enjoyed the game, but I still get annoyed with all the people acting so smug about it. Personally, I am far more impressed with someone that beat Ghost and Ghouls or Ikaruga than I am with someone that beat Dark Souls. Anyone can beat Dark Souls if they grind enough and are patient.

This is the kind of topic that smells of "stop liking what I don't like". Always fun to read.

I'm with you. I think it is brilliant, one of my favorite games in years, but I know so many people that love the game (even my brother), I'm just tired of reading or talking about it.

It doesn't help that I DESPISE child characters. Even you Clem. They're almost always cheap exploitable emotional gateways, Oh no guys, the children are in danger! Get out your inate parental instincts and review our game as emotionally engaging!

I know some aren't supposed to be written like that but that is always how I interpret them. The one and only exception is Nanako in Persona 4, even then it took me about 30 hours to get properly attached to her.
Nanako is too much, probably the most ridiculously perfect girl in gaming. More lovely than a Togepi, more responsible than most adults. It's the most cheapest emotional trick in a game with otherwise good characters and storytelling... and you know what scene I'm talking about! It's the very best example of annoying, unlikable child character, and the game is so long that the forced existence of the oh-so-cute-adorable-girl-always-doing-cute-adorable-things becomes increasingly obvious.

So many years after playing the game, I had to get this off my chest. I feel better know.

I think I can safely be said to be sick of talking about Mass Effect. It's been discussed to death after the ME3 ending debacle and now you can't talk about it online without someone showing up with an axe to grind.

Also sick of the whole Fallout 3 and New Vegas thing. It's essentially a repeat of the whining that surrounded the release of FO3 and, once again, is rife with the grinding of axes.

Lastly, PC vs Consoles. Jesus fucking Christ. Play your platform of choice and stick a sock in it. Is it really necessary to spend so much time screeching about how superior your system is?

I'm sick of hearing how...

... Mass Effect 3 had a horrible, horrible ending.

... Dark Souls is so very, very difficult.

... Skyrim is so very, very long (+ arrow jokes).

... Call of Duty is the anti-game series.

Any game about zombies anymore. They weren't that interesting to begin with. I know they're cannon fodder but I'm sick of them. Not just bored, but sick. Also Bioshock Infinite just because I have it on pre-order and I want it right now.

EDIT: Also Spec Ops just because it does the same thing
Black Ops and Fight Club
did.

I came into this thread pretty much to type this, specially the part about Dark Souls difficulty.

What really grinds me about it though, are people who use the excuse as "we don't want the developers catering to those casual fucks, it'll ruin the very essence of what makes the series so good" and yet, have never even played Demon's Souls.

Demon's Souls was the same, being touted as the fucking hardest thing ever on the internet. I'm not the greatest gamer ever but I only ever died three times on that game, twice during one boss. It is not a hard game, neither is the sequel. They're both grindfests that are catered to people who think ahead. Not people who love to cut their wrists and talk about how fucking hardcore they are when they get analed by the Capra Demon for the 50th time.
You're pretty amazing. I died 97 times in my first playthrough (damn you, Maneater) and I want to believe that I'm not that bad.

I will be sincere, I think you're in denial because you're tired of hearing pedantic fans talking about Dark Souls, and I understand, because I'm kinda tired too.

Bear with me, I'm not saying that Dark Souls is the hardest game ever made and will ruin your life (damn you, Mega Man 10), but deny the cruel nature of the game is equally absurd. Yes, the game punishes you, all the time, and that's exactly why it's hard, you said yourself.

Some people had a bad experience, some people think it's "cheap" or "grindy" or "boring", I respect these opinions, but does not change the fact that the majority had trouble with the game, and many will not have the patience to get to the end. Yeah, patience, because everyone can beat Dark Souls, but learning to play requires interest and patience. And if you're not having a good time, it will be ridiculously hard to proceed, and you will lose the will to live when beat you to a pulp for the tenth time and send you to the nearest bonfire. A game with these characteristics is certainly difficult.

So, I understand the deeper meaning of the opinion of you both, but you're ignoring the big picture. If Souls is "heh, not that hard", I don't know what to say about other big franchises. We are no longer in the 80's.

And here I am talking about it again. Too late.
