It's pretty common to have to play the first game to understand what's going on in the second. I don't understand that complaint.Damiv said:Half Life 2. I didn't think the game was that good at all. Nothing in the "plot" is explained at all, you are required to have played the first one to know wtf is going on.

I'm a basically a Valve fanboy and I'm sick of hearing of it.
It wasn't that great in my opinion.

Amen to that.OhJohnNo said:Will you guys (that's not you Escapists by the way, I'm using "you" as a generic term) just shut up about every single one of Valve's games for ONE FUCKING MINUTE? Seriously, there are people who practically worship Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. I'm getting sick of hearing about how awesome they are.
I'm also sick and tired of hearing about how terrible FFXIII is. And I don't even know the first thing about the game, other than that it was made by Japanese people and so is probably a little odd by our standards.
Your avatar makes this post very ironic.pyrosaw said:Portal. It was a three hour first person puzzle game that had a funny premise. I get it. it was funny. Shut up now.
Might want to consider changing your avatar, then...pyrosaw said:Portal. It was a three hour first person puzzle game that had a funny premise. I get it. it was funny. Shut up now.
No its not. Any good writer (movie, books, games, etc.) will tell you that writing a sequel without introducing any of the characters, the setting, the motivation behind everyones actions, and so on is a plan for failure. You never assume that everyone reading/watching/playing has intimate knowledge of your previous works. Unless you are Robert Jordan, but he's made of fail anyway.Milesprowler said:It's pretty common to have to play the first game to understand what's going on in the second.
