The minecraft phenomena.. yes it is pretty good as a sandbox construction game for low level PCs or as a way of passing time listening to i-tunes and being on facebook.. but thats about all it is.. it is over hyped just because this Notch guy made it himself because he has no life..

Personally I love the game, but in context with when I bought Company of Heroes/Dawn of War 2 I spent 9/10 of my time using the world builder just shows what kind of games/applications i like.. minecraft is just a nice playable world builder for me..

Minecraft, methinks. I haven't tried it, and I find the premise and the whole story behind the game interesting, so no bad feelings towards the actual game.

However, I feel like I can barely log onto a gaming site without hearing something about Minecraft, which is a bit annoying as I don't play it.

No hatred from here, though.

mass effect 1-2, assassins creed, halo 1-2, portal, team fortress 1-2, call of duty 4-black opps,
Assassins's Creed was humiliated by people for the bad AI, boring repetitive missions, and bland story, was it not? Was it ever a game that received such praise?
Yes, I heard very many good things about it. Didn't particularly annoy me though.
Neither me. I love that game; and it's sequel for that matter.

Popular games are popular for a reason.
Because they are marketed well.
That's a very cynical view to take.
It's also true, in most cases.
Games with good marketing but shitty everything else will result in people going "OH GOODIE!", buying, and then returning the game disappointed.

That doesn't qualify as popular. People aren't idiots who will play a game repeatedly just because they liked the trailer.

(as an aside, Chum is Fum)
Yeah, but if you make fantastic advertisements and show them a lot, then people get hyped and buy the game. If the game is bad, some will get rid, but some will defend he game as awesome because they don't like to admit they were wrong. If a game is average and very well hyped, it usually creates a huge fan base of people that will defend the game to the death (see Halo)

Portal.

I'm a Valve fanboy and I'm sick of hearing of it.

It wasn't that great in my opinion.
I totally agree.. Portal wa a short, boring, pricy half-life2 mod

Anything made by Bioware.

All they can do is run of the mill RPG's. We get mass effect which is just another star wars/star trek copy. We get dragon age: origins which is just another WOW copy.

so yeah.

Spiderman 2. I find a lot of people agreeing with me on how much this game sucks, but also some folks claiming it to be Spiderman at his best. Yes, it was the first to do the proper web-swinging and I am grateful to it for that, but the entire rest of the game is an ugly, boring waste of time (apart from Bruce Campbell).

Anything made by sqaresoft or square enix.

these people need to stop being so poetic and overemotional, it twists back around to being complete emotion-LESS. pretty big fail there.

also, they need some damn sublety too. aeris' death might as well be "FEEL SAD NOW!!!1!" for how effective it was.

Oblivion, my boyfriend loved it, but I hated it; I much preferred Dragon age.
Now that I think of it, it seems I hate most Bethesda games.

Uncharted 2. It's Gears of War crossed with Indiana Jones, only with Indy replaced by a charmless, dislikable, faceless lead. Almost all of my friends own a PS3 and they won't stop going on about it! Earth to Sony fanboys: Uncharted is no-where near as good as GoW or Halo. 360 still rules the shooter war.

COD, all of them.
MOH, all of them.
Morrowind.
Halo, all of them.
GTA anything after Vice City.
Gears of War.
All Mario and Zelda games.
Metal Gear, all of them.
Final Fantasy, all of them.
WoW.
Haven't played all of them but those i had i found to be nothing like what people claimed they were, and the fact that people wont shut up about the ones i haven't played just puts me off.

Mass Effect 2: I dont know, there was just something about the interface (mind you i have not played the first game) that kept bugging me and just drove me away.

Half-Life 2: the only part that i enjoyed was using the gravity gun to shoot buzz-saws at zombies. For one the Air-boat sections were horrible, going on and off the boat constantly because you have to get rid of obstacles only helps to break the flow and just sucks the adrenaline and rush out of the experience, couple that with the re-used (some parts were just completely identical) environment only made you feel lost and further bugg the hell out of you. The FPS elements were generic, most of the environment was closed off and why the fuck was there always red explosive barrels conveniently placed where the enemies would show up? not exactly the "thinking" mans shooter as it tries to pass of as.

Portal: A three-hour puzzle game based around a single feature that should have just been part of a bigger game. A joke that got old before it started.
