Dragon Age: Origins, yes its story was good and it gave you options, that doesn't make up for a simplified WoW gameplay system.
Isn't it based off the D&D rule-set that RPGs have been using since the beginning of time (before the Mass Effects where the genre has shifted somewhat)?
I really don't know. It felt like WoW to me but I haven't played that many older RPGs.

BioShock
surprised no one else had said it yet, idk why, everyone is like "so awesome" i just couldnt get into it, it felt too rushed, like i kept having to move forward, i couldnt slow down to enjoy the game out of fear a splicer ripping my cock off
Actually, there is a reason for that..
in the game you're actually a clone of Andrew Ryan and brainwashed by the true villain who controls you by saying "would you kindly." Actually considering this plot twist the game didn't feel rushed enough...
but also the game is also rather easy, you can't freaking permanently die for most of it which lessens the pressure rather a bit. Also you can backtrack to areas unlike to fight the Big Daddies which may have been too annoying to fight at first. I probably felt less rushed than most first person shooters.

Well it's a throwback to the likes of Baldur's Gate (I believe) and NWN.

Modern Warfare 2, because I was unamused by the free weekend
You endured it too, huh?

Spent 2 days being shot at from a helicopter, bombed, bombed by something else, more bombing, and having game overs from nukes. And sitting through pauses whilst the matchmaking allocated a new host who would inevitably lag the entire game.

Pretty much anything released by Valve is hardly deserving of the goddamn extraordinary amount of praise it gets.

Also, BioShock. It was relatively good, but it was not great, nor was it anywhere near brilliant.

I rented Half life 2 for the regular xbox years ago and just hated it. The game felt linear as fuck (with the paths and with the way enemies were laid out), I remember there being annoying mandatory vehicle sections (maybe I misremembered that part not sure) , and other shit that seemed to bore the fuck of me. I didn't even get to the gravity gun. Maybe it was just a bit of too much of a generic shooter for me. The way the story was told may have been interesting but the rest of the game was so bad that I just didn't care. Maybe it was because I played it on the regular Xbox. Maybe like Deus Ex they dumbed it down or something on consoles.

Around when you get the Gravity Gun is when it got good for me. The airboat section was kind of annoying, but entertaining enough for me to get to throw sawblades at high speeds at zombies soon after.

Modern Warfare 2. I won't deny that it's a good game. It just doesn't have anything to add to the genre, its graphics are gritty and uninteresting and it's just so easy to die.

If I have to play an FPS, I'd play TF2. I just enjoy it a lot more.

Portal. It was a three hour first person puzzle game that had a funny premise. I get it. it was funny. Shut up now.

Portal and Minecraft. Neither of them were bad games, but Portal didn't deserve GOTY at all, even with the less than spectacular game releases of '07. Minecraft is just treated as art wherever I go and it seems like nothing but an average sandbox with crappy blocky graphics just to add nostalgic charm that suddenly makes the game amazing.

Oh, and every single Zelda title ever released, especially Majora's Mask. It's an above average series, but Nintendo beat the dead horse so much that the carcass is starting to rot, and now they both stink.

Halo. I've played the first two, Halo 3 doesn't really appeal to me (although it does have Nathan Fillion who is epic) I like the first two games but there is so much praise for that game and although I like them, the praise getting slightly annoying.

I am getting quite tired of Uncharted praise. I'm a Tomb Raider fan, so I see many comments about how Uncharted is good and what TR could learn from it. They're both different styles.

Portal, Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2 and *raises Flame-shield* Shadow of the Colossus.

These games aren't bad, and SotC is VERY good, but I wish people would stop banging on about them!
