I have bought two of the same games, but usually it's for myself and a friend as a gift. I don't think I've ever bought three.

I bought Fallout 3 three times. One for the computer, one for the xbox, and a survival (or whatever) edition for the xbox. I have an addiction to that game.

Never bought a game twice. I have a Wii, so it's not like I want a PC version of anything. I've also never destroyed a disk on a PC game. Even if I did, it's not like a no-CD crack would be against anyone's ethics after shelling out good money for a game.

I've bought Fallout 1 & 2 three times; once each originally, once in a two-pack after I'd lost the discs, and once on Steam a few months ago when I thought I'd lost the discs again but found them a few days later.

As for twices, since people seem to be listing them and I'm bored: I've also bought Final Fantasy 6 twice (SNES and PSX) and will buy it a third time without a moment's hesitation if they ever give it an FF4-style remake, Jade Empire (original Xbox and through Xbox Live), and Knights of the Old Republic 2 (Xbox and PC), Age of Empires II ($5 at Wal-mart, hell yes) and Baldur's Gate (the original eight-disc restaraunt menu-lookin' thing, and after I thought I'd lost it, a slightly more compact 6-disc jewel case).

EDIT: Um. $8.49 for Oblivion, its expansion, and all that official DLC?

Add that to the "twice" list.

I bought Portal for PC and played it a bit, until my rig broke down. I then got Portal: Still Alive on XBLA, and then The Orange Box later on.

Speaking of Spyro for PS1, a friend borrowed mine back in high school and lost it. I bought a new copy earlier this year to finally replace it.
Also, I bought both the PS3 & DS versions of Dawn of the Dragon.

I had Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for PS2. When I bought a GBA, I got the original version too.

I've bought most Genesis compilations for the PS2/PS3, so I think I have three copies of Sonic 1 & 2 between them.

Does buying Pokemon Silver back in the day and SoulSilver this year count?

I've bought some games more than 3 times, though the only one that was 3 exactly was Mass Effect 2.

On the same day.

Which was release day.

Long story.
Pardon me but you've peaked my curiosity.

Yeah, you've piqued mine too... were they gifts?

And... Second copy of STALKER Clear Sky, second of Fallout 3, and second of Oblivion. My disc drive doesn't like discs I guess. So I suppose its a matter of time till they get a third copy.

I bought Eternal Darkness twice. The first one I lost, and I was lucky enough to be able to find it at a local Gamestop.

I say this with love, mind you, but the correct word is 'piqued'.

To answer your query, I was waiting for my original purchase on D2D to unlock at 1pm EST. When it finally did, I entered my unlocking code, waiting for my delicious Mass Effect goodness. Sadly, there was some sort of mix-up with the code, and it didn't work. I contacted D2D service, they said they'd get right on it.

*Twitch*

Ooookay, I'll wait then. Hour later, they contacted me back, said I'd have to E-mail EA and wait for them to send me another code, after they verified mine wasn't legit. So, I shrieked in rage and said fuck it, I'll just buy another one and use that code. I'd have paid 100 bucks for the original Mass Effect anyway.

Funny part here. I bought the 60 dollar Digital Deluxe edition. Figuring myself smarter than the average bear, I bought the regular 50 dollar version, I just needed a string of numbers. But wouldn't you know, the 50 dollar and 60 dollar versions used different algorithms to determine their unlock codes! Shrieking even louder in rage, I figured, what the fuck. I'm 110 bucks out, why not go all out on this *****. I bought another digital deluxe version, entered my new code, and sank into sweet, sweet Bioware goodness.

Now, you may think me insane, but I can mostly justify this. Not two weeks before ME2 release, a dear friend of mine had his birthday, and he also loved ME, but had no money at the time, and I hadn't even got him a present. So, that's one game. Second, I have a friend whose birthday is right about now actually, and he ALSO liked Mass Effect, so I said hey, here's your birthday present 5 months early, enjoy. They both loved it about as much as I did, so I'm cool with the whole thing.
