By the time I was able to buy my own games, I had already learned that friends could not be trusted with borrowing things. I fthey don't return books & CDs, why risk games on them?

I lent Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts 2 to my friend so his girlfriend could play them. They broke up two years ago and I haven't seen them since.

Fortunately, I had beaten both of them (KH2 twice) and sold my PS2 soon after.

I left the original silent hill at a girlfriends house. She broke up with me two days later and I was never able to get my game (and a PSone Controller!) back.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 - That game just had one of the best sound tracks. I lent it to a friend and I've just never seen it since.

Yoshi's story. Picked the cartridge, place it in a bag. See the bag empty, raise the bag, no cartridge to be found. I never ever saw a cartridge of that game after that night

I borrowed out BioShock for the 360 almost 3 years ago, still haven't got it back.

I poke the guy I lend it to about it every now and then, I only speak to him through MSN. He still didn't send it over, while I asked if he could do that this week.

I also have 2 games I borrowed from other people, Unreal 2 and Black and White 2 and I haven't spoken with both of them in years. That's 2 more to add to my game collection.

Never got back Final Fantasy (the original, NES cart). Also never got back Chrono Cross. It took me over a year to get back Dragon Warrior III (original, NES cart) on two completely separate occasions from two completely different people, but I eventually got them back both times.

I lent Oblivion to someone who I thought was my friend, but who obviously valued it more then me because he didn't tell me he was moving and left with it to the other side of the world.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age (GBA) and Magic the Gathering: Battlegrounds (PC).

I cried a little inside each time.

The people we lend it to keep telling us they never even borrowed that game. I loved that game so much.

One of my friends lent his cartrage of FF III (FF VI in japan) to another one of my friends. After playing for countless hours. my other friend's mom decided gaming wasn't for her son and took a hammer to all his games... along with my first friend's borrowed copy.

She ended up buying him Super Mario RPG since FF III was no longer on sale.
