Leaving a gun where a 4 year old could get his hands on it did.
While blaming gaming is unfair, I can't really blame "leaving a gun around" either, considering he put it down to get undressed. I don't think you'd really expect your kid to snatch it in that two minute time frame and shoot you with it o_O

What caused the death?

The gun.

If the father had utilised proper gun control, then the child would have never gotten his hands on the thing.

Reckless.

Very reckless.

Not trying to belittle this tragedy but...if the kid didn't own a Playstation, wouldn't it be more reasonable to say that NOT gaming was the cause of this?

This is a very sad story though. I have to go read something inspiring to balance this out.

I know this is Saudi and its backwards to us westerners. But how does a 4 yr old know how to use a firearm?
Technically speaking, guns, games, didn't kill here, people did, as to most occasions.

I'm not sure what the gun control standards are in Saudi Arabia, but I can't really say it seems extraordinarily reckless (that is, any more reckless than the average human being). He could very easily have planned to put the gun in a safe after he changed, or w/e. Honestly, there are probably going to be moments when you leave a gun around for a few minutes, like if you're cleaning it and need to go to the bathroom. People get lazy, and one can't reasonably expect a kid to pull the gun on his own father. It seems to me that rather than one person getting blame for this incident, it's more of a tragic misjudgment of a four year old's ability and willingness to shoot someone.

Well yeah, it is a tragedy and there's nobody to blame.

In this case, laziness, ignorance or recklessness cost him his life.

Well, experience shows us that he should have expected it. And how hard is it to keep the gun out of reach while changing - put it on top of the table or on top of the wardrobe or anywhere that is more than a metre above the ground.

Given that there are several civil wars going on in the middle east right now, having a gun really wouldnt be out of the question.

And who knows, the kids late father might have been a street thug. It's possible!

Reading the earlier reports of this story clearly state that kid was playing with the gun before hand and it accidentally went off.

This coupled with the fact that the kid was four fucking years old pretty much guarantees the Playstation had nothing to do with it.

The media is just trying to pin a sensational headline on this.

Children shooting off guns and accidentally killing people is a lot more common than most know. I mean, there's even a high rate of dogs killing hunters through the simple act of jumping on the owner/gun and the gun going off. This sort of thing happens all the time.

And when you get right down to it, Saudi is not the funnest place to reside. The man probably uses proper gun control all the time. But it only takes one moment, one slip up, for this sort of thing to happen. And everyone is human, mistakes are made, these sorts of things can occur.

A man is dead, his child will feel the full impact of this as he grows up. Who knows what will happen to the wife now that she has no husband, the child may become an orphan as a result. More than one life has been shattered. There is no humor in that.

Man, that's harsh.

Why wouldn't the dad buy his son a Playstation, the dick.

The upside is the son may possibly be able to buy a Playstation with his father's life insurance, smart kid.
Well, it depends on what loot he dropped. Any idea what the drop rate is on those? Grinding is always so boring and tedious.

Daystar has it covered, I think. Unless you ask Jack Thmopson. Next time a toddler stabs somebody, and they find an unattended nokia phone around, they can still claim it was Snake that caused the violence.
Damn Ninjas!

Oh well media goes overboard for more ratings same old same old.

The trick to Legos is using not only the bricks you can see, but also the bricks you can't.

Unless kids shooting their parents is a common thing over there, I'm not sure why he should have expected something like that to happen just because it happens in the US a lot. And yeah, it's not that hard to keep it on a wardrobe, but hindsight is 20-20 :p
