Plain and simple, what gaming myths did you hear about growing up and where?

For example, the classic myth that holding B+Down would increase the chance of catching a Pokemon on Red or Blue, and that Mew is under a car at the beginning of the game.

Everyone heard some variation of this rumor on the playgrounds, EVERYONE did. I still to this day wonder who the hell started it.

I heard of the B+Down myth but never heard of the mew good thing to or I would have never got to the first city

There was a rumor that you were able to get Raichu in Super Smash Bros. (proved wrong)

And that you could get a gun in Zelda: Majoras Mask. (not proved wrong, but sounds very unlikely)

I forgot all about that one. Pretty sure it's fake but I still spent hours searching for it. I had also heard that you could spot UFOs.

Apparently there's a cheat on the original Sims that works the same as Rosebud;; but gives you magic town coins (for the 'making magic expansion pack'). It never worked for me so I wonder if it does work/exist.

I can't think of any others at this moment in time although they'll probably come to me later!

Oh wait, I know, I think there was always rumours of a DS remake of Zelda:OoT, and lo', we're getting one! So that actually proved true I guess. I rare myth that has become reality.
