The Cow Level in Diablo and 800,000,000+ convoluted ways to supposedly get Arieth back in FFVI.

The Aerith thing for me really although there are actual ways to ressurect her using Gamesharks and certain save glitches on the PC version.

Plain and simple, what gaming myths did you hear about growing up and where?

For example, the classic myth that holding B+Down would increase the chance of catching a Pokemon on Red or Blue, and that Mew is under a car at the beginning of the game.

Everyone heard some variation of this rumor on the playgrounds, EVERYONE did. I still to this day wonder who the hell started it.

The version I heard was you have to surf off from the jetty the big boat was on which can't be done if you do the normal progression of the game. Then there's an island with mew on it or something.

Oh and I heard it was you had to tap B...

Just shows even more what a myth it is.

Actually if you are on the ship and get the cut Hm and make your pokemon faint you can get off the ship without it sailing away. Then you can comeback with surf and got to do that. All there is a little truck which can't be moved.

F10 in TF2 gives you uber/perma-uber/switch classes/gives hat/superspeed/anything you ever want in the game.

In ocarina of time, I was desperate to find everything and when I was little I had heard of a rumor to get the Triforce. It wasn't real.

Being able to play as Master Hand in any of the Smash Bros games. GameTrailers have launched a new show which looks at gaming myths, and have just taken a look at this myth, apparently by use of a strange code you can play as Master Hand in SSBM.

Also in Final Fantasy IX if you beat Black Waltz 1 by killing the sea lion first then you unlock alternate costumes for characters.

And in GTA:SA there was a mysterious zoo or something somewhere where you could get horses.
Also on GTA:SA, which is apparently true, is that you can find these old banged up cars in the Badlands and places (can't remember what cars they are, but I've found them before) and if you drive them at night, then 'ghost cars' with no drivers come after you...

The pokeball myth I heard was that if you pressed B and down, the pokeball acted as though it was the next level ball (poke = great, great = ultra, ultra = master? I guess.)

If you leave a sandvich out in TF2 on an empty server in the cap room of your team, then go get the enemy's brief case, and come back to your base, the sandvich will be gone. Gabe Newell ate it.

There was one that you could kill your rival in Pokemon Gold/Silver, and he'd jump off a building. Pretty sure that was fake though.

Also if you got all the Pokemon, Celebi would emerge from the Azalea Forest shrine and attack you. Never found out if that really happened though. 198 Pokemon and counting!

The Celebi thing is real. But it's not from getting every Pokémon. It was an event download, I think...

I remember the B+Down myth from Pokemon. I still catch myself doing that from time to time. There's also the famous myth about a load of E.T carts being buried in the desert, though every reputable source denies this.

Lets see what else... there was the Aeris myths that floated around. Some of those were ridiculous. Getting Big Show and Ken Shamrock in Smackdown 2 was another I remember. I think there was a glitch in the game that enabled them to come out sometimes, but that was all it was. Sheng Long in Street Fighter 2 was another one. Ah I loved the times before the internet enabled you to debunk every myth within minutes when you find out some diehard went throught the entire source code of the game.

the celebi one is provably false. coming from someone who literally caught them all in every version. celebi is only in the games programming, but without a way to obtain at all. only by going to an event in person (as i did ^.^") god i love being a nerd
