I seem to recall that back in the early days of everquest, there was a rumor that certain high-demand monsters would not spawn if there was a character in a certain radius. It was called the "anti-camp radius" appropriately enough.

See it turns out it wasn't ACTUALLY a feature but a glitch, an exploit the bring out a part of the game that the developers thought they had removed or accidentally left as playable.

It seems the guy who discovered this as late as 2008 realised how the game logic select characters and how with the right button inputs would be able to enter game with no character selected... then the game might just select the first playable character from the game's list.

If you talked to your rival outside Elm's Lab 1000 times you'd get teleported to a pokemart that sells rare candies and master balls for free.
Pika-blue was a good myth at the time.

The crazed sniper, could be false considering there's a give pedestrians weapons cheat and a riot cheat which means nutters + guns = potshots!

There was this rumor that a killer would hunt CJ anytime he was in the country area, and that he would sneak kill CJ with a sniper rife.

....But there was another rumor that actually proved true: If you by yourself during the early moring hours in rural areas or in Los santo...Beat up cars would appear out of nowhere with no drivers around.

rockstar confirmed it they stated that it was merely helping the playing eg. out in the bush on foot no car then a beat up car drives past then suddenly stops and no ones in it thus letting you take it and drive to civilization

Years ago there were a ton of them floating around regarding Mortal Kombat.

-playing as Sonya or Kano in MK2
-playing as Johnny Cage in MK3
-fighting Barney
-fighting Jade in MK1
-fighting Ermac in MK1

The list goes on and on, and being as young as I was, I actually believed some of these. =\

There are various "monsters" of human/animal hybrids to be found due to glitches. I haven't seen anything I would say looks like it's supposed to be a werewolf.

There is supposed to be a werewolf in the Tall Trees region in Red Dead Redemption. I have never seen it, and I spend 70% of my time there hunting. But I still have to wonder...

actually it's semi true, it's part of the last hunting ambient mission, you go after a legendary bear, wolf and boar, the wolf is large and black with glowing gold eyes. it's near the lake house at tall trees.

yeah i heard something similar, i don't remember what you had to do but i heard that the rocket could take off and you could get on it and go to the moon and catch deoxys..........yeah that was bs

Plain and simple, what gaming myths did you hear about growing up and where?

For example, the classic myth that holding B+Down would increase the chance of catching a Pokemon on Red or Blue, and that Mew is under a car at the beginning of the game.

Everyone heard some variation of this rumor on the playgrounds, EVERYONE did. I still to this day wonder who the hell started it.

I heard of both those myths, but I thought it was A down.

and an achievement if you kept your dog through the end of fallout 3 you get an achievement?

Anyone hear about the haunted Sprunk factory in GTA IV? That's probably my favorite gaming legend, because I went there to investigate and there WAS a mysterious glitch: If you fired a gun there, a strip club bouncer spawns in the basement. I found that out the hard way... Nearly shit myself when he shot me.

i did the same thing, except i went in online with a few freinds. we didnt really expect anything, but after about 2 miniuts our car exploded outside, we soon ran out screaming
