Sooooooooooo disappointed by Ocarina of Time. A revolution in game design, yes.

A classic that remains THE BEST GAME EVER!, no.

Anyway, really disappointed by Umbra in Oblivion. It's actually quite shitty, since its pre-enchanted. With fucking Soul Trap. So that I can recharge Umbra to trap more souls in an infinite loop. Base Damage is high, but any sword with a decent enchantment outclasses it vastly.

Duke Nukem Forever comes to mind as a let down.

but as a game that was released and I Was let down... Crysis.

In my own opinion it was just an over hyped benchmark stress test and it felt like it fell short on playability. 4 Levels in I couldn't be bothered anymore.

And the last thing that bothered me about it: where the hell was Ryan? I gotta figure that he would've come back in a vita chamber, seeing as they were all programmed to his own DNA. I was rather hoping he was alive for a plot twist.
Well, Ryan shut off the Vita chambers. He didn't want to be revived. Now, I know people are saying that there is still a possibility that he could have revived, the vita-chamber in his office was off, but there was a hidden one that was still working, blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda. But, you have to ask yourself, what was left for Ryan? Rapture was in ruins. Everyone had fallen into insane drug addicts prowling the streets trying to get more ADAM. Rapture had fallen into a state of almost robotic self dependence. It didn't need a leader anymore, and there wasn't much Ryan could do to control Rapture anymore. So, instead of marking his final moments of life as a "slave", by obeying Fontaine's wishes for him to die, he chooses to kill himself instead and prove he is a man. Reviving himself would completely undermine his point.
I knew that, and it made sense to me. Ryan wanted to die without being killed by Atlas and the city was out of control and whatnot, so he was killed. Fine. But with Jack still reviving in Vita chambers in the last levels, I thought they were all still turned on. So i figured, why would he turn it off for his DNA--which was really the only thing in the programming of the chambers--but not yours? And for that matter, how would he do that? I doubt he just had a few bits of Jack's body lying around his office to give it his specific DNA.
But none of that actually mattered to me. I just wanted Ryan back. I loved him as a character, much better than Lamb.

Jack as a companion on ME2, she demolishes two heavy mechs a wall and who knows how many guards breaking out of purgatory yet when you have her in normal game play she is waaaaaay less effective a biotic than a biotic Shepard or Samara/Morinth.

Also the Tesla Cannon from Fallout 3: Broken Steel, I went through a town full of deathclaws to find that and it is pretty much useless your outdoors and your enemy stands completely still.

My biggest disappointment was the Warhammer fantasy MMO. I actually enjoyed the game play, and such but the people would rather spend the entire time farming the same instance battleground or world quest than experience all the other stuff in the game. That and the fact that the game just didn't work right.

Fable 2 really wasn't what I expected. It was a good game, definitely, but I just couldn't obsess over it like I could the first. Maybe it's just me that changed, but whatever, I was disappointed with fable 2.

Personally, Super Smash Bros Brawl disappointed me. Although it added tons of new features, it couldn't match the superb gameplay of Melee, IMO.
The fact that they replaced good characters with crappy ones is what bothered me the most.

Heroes of Might and Magic IV was a tragic letdown for me. They got rid of two excellent castles, removed more than half the creatures, and put in a half-assed sount track that was just an obvious loop. Heroes of Might and Magic III was many times better.
I have IV and have never played III, I think i'll try it out.

God of war 3. It was the first one in the series I played but damn it was such a let down

-"Oh hey check out this game its the most amazing and mind blowing experience ever. critically acclaimed and what not"-

*several hours later*

"Well that was a complete waste of time"
Maybe you could say why you didn't enjoy. Don't just say,

"It was a letdown"

Because that's a shitty answer.
Ok then. I felt it was a let down because the combat was just button mashing square till you got the finishing move and the story gave you no choice in the decisions. You had to
cut gaias hand off and let her die instead of making the logical decison and saving her so she could join you in the fight against zeus.

inb4 most games are like that its not the fact that you cant change the story its the fact that the decisions he makes are so stupid. i know hes supposed to be the "RAAWWWRRRR YOU TRICKED ME INTO KILLING MY FAMILY BLAH BLAH BLAH NOW I MUST HAVE MY REVENGE BY KILLING EVERY SINGLE PERSON I COME ACROSS BLAH BLAH" guy but god damn the story is just ridiculous. He would rather kill everyone in his path even those who havent betrayed him just for the sake of killing them even if it makes his final goal of killing zeus harder.

Oh and the sex mini-game. I mean really?I could see through the gameplay being heavily aimed towards the mindless slaughter market with the "OMG I JUST SHOVED THAT GUYS HEAD UP HIS OWN ASS AND MADE HIM EAT BLOOD. THIS MAKES ME IGNORE THE FACT THERES NO REAL REASON FOR HIM TO BE DOING THIS" moments. But 3 women on a bed with what may as well be no clothes at all then having the other two women say things such as "SUCH POWER" and "WHEN WILL IT BE OUR TURN" you may as well be watching a porno where you cant see the actual events.

I really did look forward to Timeshift, I really did.

It looked great! It was immersive, had a great mechanic, the graphics were slick and shiny and the gameplay videos looked brilliant.

And then..... it was a bland load of shit.

Thus, hopes dashed. Again.
Seeing how it's a mostly Russian game, I can explain that one.
The guys behind Timeshift actually had the game finished a year before the release. It seemed like it really worked, had a colourful, fun style instead of the dark and boring bullshit that it turned into later.
However, the publisher nearly scrapped the game and made them redo the whole fucking thing.
I don't really think it's a bad game and I would love to see a sequel but it could've been so much better.
OT: The campaign to Bad Company 2 could've been so much better. The online is still awesome but I wish the campaign was as good.

They are both staples of the series.

You never had choices in God Of War, It's a hack n slash game, not bloody Dragon Age.

And for the sex mini-game, that has also been in every God Of War. Usually it's a threesome, you should be glad you're only banging the god of Lust.

Complaining about things that have been in the series since the beginning is just nitpicking.
I have never played a God of War game before 3 so staple or not its still a let down. And you may have missed the part where I said its mainly the fact that the choices he makes are so stupid beyond reason. Dont say its because his family is dead he is irrational either because no one can constantly be that angry without giving themselves a stroke from the stress or collapsing in a heap.

OT: The game was a let down for me. You asked the reasons and I gave them.
