Chrysallids..X-com.

Usually when your best trooper spots them with insufficient time left to do anything other than fire off a poorly aimed panic shot...
Then the horror begins as 1 chrysallid becomes 2, who infect 2 more hosts and become 4 and so on until the entire world is consumned by the horde....

gah...flashbacks man....you cant understand...you werent there!

Jesus christ, i remember those bastards. The sound they make when they see your soldiers makes me quake in my chair.
But then again, its one of the reasons i LOVE X-com.

No Heavy Rain mentions? Most of the fight scenes in that, just because in my mind was racing "One wrong button and I KILL this character!"

Had to pause afterwards.

Here's a very general one: Time limits in strategy games. "Defend for X minutes" aren't quite as bad, but if there's a "Destroy X before time runs out" or similar objective, I'm panicking my ass off. And the longer the time limit, the bigger the panic.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth:

"Why, I'm just going to go ahead and sleep in this fishy hotel in Innsmouth. Surely nothing will go wrong as long as I lock the door, right?"

Seconds later,

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
That. Too bad the game was pretty bland shortly after getting out of Innsmouth (or what I've played so far).

Happened on the night right after I put the new sign up. Haven't even tried to solve this problem yet, might just build a new house.

(hint: look at the top window carefully)

I will remember to NEVER leave my door open when I go off again.

Usually during chase scenes in various games... When I'm the one who's being chased, of course.

Sonic drowning theme, almost threw my controller down and shut my gamecube off first time I heard. That is my definition of panic in a video game.

whenever i have to go into the ghoul infested subways in Fallout 3, or the zombie/vampire infested caves of Oblivion.

I know that some people don't find them scary but i really dread entering them.

urgg, I hated him and his blasted well. First time I found his room I just stood there for a while. Then I got near one of his hands. Pure nightmare fuel DX

Leeet's see. Oh! In Doom 3, when Pinky pops up. I'm trying to get away and Pinky is just there mauling away at me. Not my favorite moment, but it does make me panic.
I remember my first encoutner with pinky. As he was trying to break the door open i was sniggering and making fun of him thinking that i was safe. Then he smashed through the glass and had me cornered. I swear i wet myself that day.

My recent moment was in Fallout New Vegas.
I was sneaking in cave a full of deathclaws. Everytime I moved my HUD displayed caution.
There was probably like a dozen deathclaws near my face.

In the words of the great Kevin(1811)...

'Aww, bad luck mate!'

OT:

Erm, MW2 twice in the final mission, I thought I'd screwed it up when you went over the waterfalls and when Shep. smacks you on to the car roof.

Also whenever I go around in the early morning after dawn on the Escapecraft servers. I open my little hole, and see a Creeper.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...

[small]I haven't died yet though![/small]

Quote the Claymore, Nevermo- I mean *click*

I used to panic, these I have just enough time to regret running through that door between the click and explosion.

Seeing my subtitles at the bottom of the screen say [Hunter Warning!].

And, by extension, hearing a hunter's blood-curdling scream of rage.
