I dunno if plotholes is the right word for this, but I mean just things in gaming that dont make sense...such as characters/people not dying from stuff that should obviously kill them, or just plain weird stuff that makes no logical sense, so ya, insert some of your observations of this ridiculousness..

My main example is with Final Fantasy 12 (which I'm still playing atm) and its technology...the people of Ivalice have the technology to make airships such as these...

...yet their architecture is all old fashioned, and their farthest technologic advancement as far as guns go, is the musket...

So they put thier technical know how into something worthwhile... such as airships and classy architecture instead of weapons... what is wrong with that? the world would probably be a better place if people stopped focusing on tech for new ways to give each others deads.

and i thought that as a video game (and a jrp in particular), the concept was to be as un-realistic as possible?

In Fable each time you raised your abilities you got older.
I had grinded my character so much that when I encounterd his mother near the end I was older then she was.

Except that defies the very nature of humanity, the ever-asked question of "How do we kill shit with this?"

Boss battles. Like when you have normal people who can take 50 headshots before dying. It's stupid.

Any game where you play the biggest badass in the universe and can kill anything in the game, UNTIL a cutscene happens and you are somehow defeated/captured/made powerless by random cronies that you were slaughtering by the hundreds a minute ago. A good example, is Fallout 3 where
your father kills himself to save you and the experiment, even though it's only about three dudes you could easily defeat, and defeat dozens of them only minutes later while escaping.

Why the evil mastermind behind the whole thing always insists on fighting you in single combat. There are a lot less risky ways to kill you.
Like the Bioshock final boss, why not just destroy the submersible as you traveled to kill him?

Building off of this with Fable 2. The dog has to be like 50 by the end of the game. I mean you start at about age 20 and the dog has already been with you since about the age of 8. Then you disappear for 10 years and the thing is still alive.

Also Harvest Moon: A wonderful life. The character dies at the end of the story, but the dog, first cow you get, and horse all outlive him.

Well methinks I can explain it on a stylistic level, since attempting to explain it "logically" pointless since Final Fantasy is soft sci-fi so you need to stop questioning everything. Final Fantasy doesn't use old-style architecture for the record. They invent their own architecture, rather impractical and impressive architecture which gives the impression of epic kingdoms and presence of magic. The airships themselves are adding to the epic sense given by the setting. Having this leviathins floating through the air gives the impression of power, something that guns don't do. Final Fantasy is (and has been since 6) about style. Creating worlds that are visually interesting, without worrying about it being logical or accurate. The point of their worlds being to convey that your story is an epic that will saves dimensions and contain all kinds of magic and wonder. Its stupid to question it, partly because they've never stated they're going for a particular era and partially because its a fucking video game. I guess I can summarize by saying, its Final Fantasy when have they ever delved into the science of their worlds.

Yes, like take that commander guy you fight in the hive on Prototype, how come you can't consume him but you consume his subordinates without effort?

In any Final Fantasy with a dead ally. Why can't they just use a Pheonix Down on them?
Because Square Enix are idiots when it comes to constructing the characters' outcomes in the games. When I say Square Enix I mean Square Enix, Square Soft had a better perspective on their games than Square Enix has shown so far.

Yeah, take Fable 1 as an example when trapped in the prison, why can't you simply fight the main boss there and his underlings, before your character allows himself to be imprisoned? Instead of running about a prison in your underwear for about 2 years.

I suppose so, but sometimes it just feels awkward though...like, just going from one place which is a lowly abandoned tomb, to a highly advanced airship which uses magic as weaponry....also...I never expected to walk out of jungle(FFXII again), and to be encountered with an area of thick clouds and snowy mountains and terrain..

I am playing sniper elite at the moment, it has an interesting story as your an Maerican fighting for the germans to slow the russians advance. BUT in once mission you have to go help put a group of german resistance fihgters who are pinned down by soviet infantry, then a GERMAN tank with german markings shows up and starts attacking you. Just after you attack a tank depot... full of german tanks and staffed by russians. Then for some reason the Germans become enimes but the game doesnt bother to say. Its all very annoying.

In Fallout 3 before Broken Steel, you couldn't just send Fawkes or another character that was immune to radiation to activate the purifier for you.

Final Fantasy isn't even sci-fi, it's fantasy hence the name Final Fantasy. Logic and fantasy are inherently don't go well together. Trying to mix the two is like putting a Star Wars nerd and a Star Trek nerd in the same room, it's a good effort, but you'll probably end up cleaning blood off the walls.
