Yes, this is true. But Final Fantasy, at least the few I've played, are usually pretty good at keeping things constant. Granted I've not played FFXII so I can't really comment on the airships and architecture thing.scobie said:And that's one of the many things that made it awesome.WanderFreak said:Resident Evil 4 a.k.a. the single most stupid plot ever.

Trying to mix the two is like putting a Star Wars nerd and a Star Trek nerd in the same room, it's a good effort, but you'll probably end up cleaning blood off the walls.Realism and suspension of disbelief aren't the same thing. Just because fiction is fantasy doesn't mean all rules are out the window. In fantasy some things obviously don't work the same way as in the real world, but you still need internal consistency. If something weird happens that isn't covered by the world's rules, it's going to grate no matter the genre.quack35 said:I think that's why FANTASY is in the title, it doesn't HAVE to make sense.

Where do they say that the ONLY reason citadel security was in place was because of the attack on Eden Prime?gigastrike said:The entire story of Mass Effect. The whole thing was Saren trying to find the conduit, but all he used the conduit for was the get a bunch of geth onto the citadel so that he could get past security and get into the council tower so that he could turn control of the citadel over to Sovereign. But the only reason why he wasn't able to get past security in the first place was because he attacked Eden Prime in an attempt to find the conduit.
All he would have needed to do was get the geth and Sovereign to attack the citedel (as they did and succeeded at) and, in the confusion, walk to the council tower (which would be lightly defended at best and defended by people who would think that he was their friend) and turn over control to Sovereign. Game over. Reapers invade. Commander Shepard never even gets involved.
I never said that that was the only reason that they were there, but they probably wouldn't attack the most decorated member or a peace-keeping organization that works outside the bounds of the law (and even if they tried, Saren and a couple kroagan bodyguards could hold them off long enough to turn over control to Sovereign)...and Shepard would probably have his own missions.Thunderhorse31 said:Where do they say that the ONLY reason citadel security was in place was because of the attack on Eden Prime?
Also, if the attack on the Citadel happened sooner, Shepard would still have been able to beat Saren because their levels would have been appropriately scaled![]()
actualy wasnt Saren trying to delay that a bit to make sure about the effects of the aura around Sovereign... or something, Im pretty sure there was a reason he didnt just go in but I cant remember enough of the dialog atm.... I want to say that Sovereign didnt know why the citidel wasnt working and thus didnt know to go there at the start but I cant remembergigastrike said:The entire story of Mass Effect. The same argument could be made for making technology that finds fake/manufactured tapes and voices.Internet Kraken said:Something I was wondering about in Mass Effect is why the Council believed you when you showed them the audio tape. It's the future, so there's probably technology that would let you change your voice. So I imagine making fake audio recordings wouldn't be to hard.

Oh my God, that made me laugh so much. And I actually like Resident Evil (that is to say, I love the films and want to play all the games). Hence you've made me want that game even more nowWanderFreak said:Resident Evil 4 a.k.a. the single most stupid plot ever.
Government: Hey Leon, one of the only survivors of Raccoon City and thus automatically admitted to the Secret Service, we THINK the President's daughter is somewhere in Europe that is Spain but not Spain, go check.
Leon: Okay, do you have any more intel?
Government: Nope.
Leon: ...do I get backup?
Government: Nope.
Leon: Do I at least get good guns?
Government: You get a pistol.
*Later*
Leon: Excuse me sir, I assume you are the owner of this house. I just entered uninvited because AMERICA FUCK YEAH apparently and I want you to tell me immediately if you have seen this girl, or I will shoot you because you are foreign and hence a terrorist.
First Dude Leon Kills: ...que?
Leon: TERRORIST!
*Just then*
Hunnigan: What happened Leon?
Leon: I encountered a hostile local after breaking into his house and assaulting him, I had to neutralize him.
*And then*
Luis: It's a good thing that when they captured you the only thing they took was your jacket.
Leon: ...NOW!
Luis: ...now what?
Leon: When I say now, lean.
Luis: But the guy is trying to axe u--
Leon: HE WILL SWING BETWEEN US FOR NO REASON!
Luis: Americano estupido.
Leon: What was that Terrorist?
Ada: It's a good thing I'm not bothering to help you or anything, even though I need Luis alive. But hey, what do I know, I think a bright red dress and high heels is appropriate attire for combat.
*Even later still*
Leon: Hmm, it would appear that lake is home to a massive man-eating fish thing... oh good, they left their boat running. There certainly are a lot of harpoons in this little boat.
*In the church*
Ashley: You are an American, so I will act hostile towards you!
Leon: Okay, you stay right here then *****.
Hunnigan: Leon.
Leon: Oh fine, I need my extraction chopper.
Hunnigan: The chopper will pick you up after you've passed through a complex series of tunnels, caves, ancient ruins, and an abandoned military base.
Leon: ...why can't it just hover over us and drop a harness?
Hunnigan: What was that Leon? I'm losing your signal.
*But wait, what's this?*
Saddler: Ah Leon, let me tell you our entire plan. You will take the President's daughter back, and she will infect people. And no one will know why! Isn't it brilliant!
Leon: ...I know.
Saddler: Well, you're infected too so there.
*Near the end*
Leon: The hell is this? Is that a God damn castle? How does the government not know about this? Fuck, it can't get more ridiculous than this.
*Just then, at the Giant Statue*
Leon: JESUSFUCKINGCHRISTFUCKINGGIANTSTATUEWHATTHEFUCK?!
*Later, at the MASSIVE MILITARY BASE*
Leon: Oh fuck you.
It's like this. Sovereign tried to activate the giant mass relay in the Citadel remotely, BUT the Keepers had evolved so they would ONLY respond to signals coming from WITHIN the Citadel. Now Sovereign couldn't just attack the entire Citadel fleet head on, that would be suicide. Instead he (or rather it) found out the Protheans made the Conduit as a back-door entrance to the Citadel. Now if someone could come in through the Citadel via the back door, and activate the giant mass relay to call the rest of the Reapers through. Now initially Sovereign found out that the Protheans had made this "Conduit" and thus started searching for clues. The Prothean beacons were the key. Problem was the message in these Beacons were made so that only organic creatures could interprate them. That's why he needed Saren.Worgen said:actualy wasnt Saren trying to delay that a bit to make sure about the effects of the aura around Sovereign... or something, Im pretty sure there was a reason he didnt just go in but I cant remember enough of the dialog atm....
