Well I think that a lot of the airships in Final Fantasy in paticular are supposed to be working on magic. In Final Fantasy in paticular the method by which they were drawing electrical power (directly from the planet) was an early issue.

A lot of concepts use the idea of techno-wizardry.

Any game where you play the biggest badass in the universe and can kill anything in the game, UNTIL a cutscene happens and you are somehow defeated/captured/made powerless by random cronies that you were slaughtering by the hundreds a minute ago. A good example, is Fallout 3 where

Airships are an EXCELLENT form of bomb delivery, as Germany proved during World War I. We probably would've advanced the technology further, if not for the Hindenburg disaster. Just wait: in an effort to defend against airships, they'll develop AA guns, then evolve to faster planes with a higher ceiling, etc.

Not so much a plothole, but an addressed question:

Persona 3 - What happens to planes in flight during the Dark Hour? What about cars on steep inclines (and without the parking brakes on?)?

Or what about time zones? Does the Dark Hour operate on Standard time? and what happens if you're crossing a time zone when the Dark Hour hits, does like half the car go into the dark hour and the other half not for another hour?

Actually, in regards to the part about time zones, doesn't the Dark Hour only take place in that one area because

Its steam-punk styled. Not actual steam punk but the same idea, of futuristic old technology. Besides, if you only advance some things, some things will be better. If we put less into weaponry in real life, and more into schools and medicine, those could all be super advanced, while having low-tech weapons.
