That game plot story. I actually like the game but he is right about the story.

Also in ANY game where you are surrounded by like 5-10 NORMAL soldiers that you have beaten up 500 times before and now dominate due to they being to weak. But they are somehow able to capture you.

I'd accept being captured if they where able to KILL me with an army and I had to manually fight them and when I finally run out of potions/mana to heal myself. That's when I accept it but if I can beat them all up I expect a new story. I'd also accept if those soldiers where SUPER versions of the old ones but most of the time they are not.

Fable and Final fantasy games have this problem.

Specially in Final fantasy 9 where you fight guards and they go, "There are too many of them!" NO there ain't enough of them, I kill them in few hits and have no problem what so ever with them and you claim there are to many? >.<

In Fable with the prison thingy, I just slaughtered like 50 similar guys I think and 10 of them claim to be able to catch me?

Also the whole thing about an Ancient Race that have superior technology but for some reason DIED OUT and there is NO STORY about it what so ever. Seriously, you'd think that whoever wiped them out would at least be ruling the world.

Oh well I buy into those things anyway as then I get more awesome stuff to play around with. But then you can still buy armor MORE powerful than those you find in their ruins.....Ok how?

You know Command and Conquer kinda gets me.
"Commander you are the savior of *insert name of affiliated faction here possibly followed by Kane's rhetoric*"
"...."
"Yes commander, that is a very good question."
"......"
"The reason we do not seem to have any commander who is capable of victory other than yourself is because.....Well......um.....We are losing you commander, good luck *possibly more Kane rhetoric*."
I mean, can I at least HEAR of victories on other fronts, maybe an allusion to Nod or GDI being defeated elsewhere but nope, in the words of Leia "Commander you are our only hope".

Vehical inconsistancy hops to mind. Prime example: Halo: Combat Evolved

Worthog = COMPLETELY UTTERLY INVICEABLE
Banshee = taken down with half a pistol clip and a steady eye

which brings up another inconsitancy... weapon streagth and acuracy range

Battlefield 2: Shotgun can take down a sniper half way across town and you can effectively snipe with an assault rifle

theres more examples i could use but you get the point...

About the whole Final Fantasy phoenix down issue... it's a fruitless discussion.

Final Fantasy separates story from gameplay (much to a certain fast talking reviewers dismay), and that's the way the series has worked for a long time. The battles are "non-canon" and just there for you to have something to do while you watch the story unfold.

Most games do this to a certain extent (really, do you think it's possible to kill 27 boars without having a single slice of meat drop only to get it at the 28th?), and people accept it in different amounts. Final Fantasy is an extreme, some people are OK with this, others aren't. It makes no sense whatsoever, it's just the way it works.

Another fine example is from Final Fantasy VIII where your employed sniper gets cold feet when about to shoot, despite having killed hundreds of soldiers just to get to that point. It's also because of this that the series gets away with occasionally ridiculous enemies (killer houses anyone?)

Resident Evil, all of them.
I had to laugh when Salazar sends his "right hand" after you... and then his left hand walks off

Something I was wondering about in Mass Effect is why the Council believed you when you showed them the audio tape. It's the future, so there's probably technology that would let you change your voice. So I imagine making fake audio recordings wouldn't be to hard.
Yet they didn't believe an eye witness to the crime. =p Agreed always thought that was pretty dumb.

Fallout 3. Why did your daddy sacrifice himself? You would probably have enough firepower to blast the Enclave to Oblivion (or Morrowind).

Any game where as long as you have 1hp you are completly fine and show no sign of injury, but as soon as you lose that last hp limbs start flying every where, same goes for carrying limits, as long as you say a gram under the limit you can run at full speed, but pick up another piece of vendor trash, and oh crap, it's to heavy to run now.
Oy I love fallout 3

So they put thier technical know how into something worthwhile... such as airships and classy architecture instead of weapons... what is wrong with that? the world would probably be a better place if people stopped focusing on tech for new ways to give each others deads.
Except that defies the very nature of humanity, the ever-asked question of "How do we kill shit with this?"
Maybe they just spent the centuries crushing people with their fancy airships. I mean, anyone can kill somebody with a gun. But splattering people they don't like with an airship takes style.

I think you're over-thinking it, and coming from me, that's saying A LOT!

Boss battles. Like when you have normal people who can take 50 headshots before dying. It's stupid.
This. So much this. They always take far longer to kill, because they have, what, health bars? Bullshit. They may be also to dodge it, but when you hit them, they should die as fast as any cannonfodder sent to you before.

Influenza. Read Night Surf or The Stand by Stephen King.

Ummm ...

I haven't played it and won't disagree about indestructible buildings being jarring, but ...

Here's what you can drop from that height:

I don't know how low they are in the game, but, y'know, it might not be totally unrealistic.

Except maybe the Cyberdemon in Doom, or the Dark Trooper from Star Wars Dark Forces.

Not so much a plothole, but an addressed question:

Persona 3 - What happens to planes in flight during the Dark Hour? What about cars on steep inclines (and without the parking brakes on?)?
Or what about time zones? Does the Dark Hour operate on Standard time? and what happens if you're crossing a time zone when the Dark Hour hits, does like half the car go into the dark hour and the other half not for another hour?
Actually, in regards to the part about time zones, doesn't the Dark Hour only take place in that one area because

The explosion at the Kirijo Group's company created it in the first place and that area is where it initially happened?

The Spoony One is most excellent.

Let me tell you man... When I played that game for the first time (I was ten), I activated the Lamp and "BAM", there he was... El Diablo! I hadn't listened to the tutorials so didn't know how to draw, (or what "draw" was for that matter) so I died horribly... *NOOOOOO! TWO HOURS OF MY LIFE*

Suikoden II has one of my favorites.

When you set off to rescue Ridley outside of Radat Town. You are pushed into a major battle and during this fight Ridley is ridiculously overpowered, likely to pop a critical with nearly every attack. Now as long as he doesn't come in contact with any allies, you can play the battle to the end. So I up and slaughter the Highland army, Ridley having done most of the work before Riou and co even got there, get a sword in Luca Blight himself only for Shu to suddenly appear saying (paragraphing here) "At this rate we are being slaughtered. We must retreat!" followed by a few characters mourning having to leave behind Ridley.

I was pretty much left speechless for that. The whole entire enemy army was dead, Luca was injured and we needed to run?! The hell we're being slaughtered you idiot, we haven't lost a single unit yet!"

While I absolute adore Lunar: SSSC, it has one of the worst gaming blunders I have ever seen and to make matters worse... it happens twice, XD. You begin the game with an item called Alex's Ocarina, which basically is meant to let you play all the sounds in the game right from the get go. The develops neglected to notice they named one of the songs after the final boss of the bloody game, revealing at the very beginning the game's major plot twist in
Ghaleon becoming the Master Emperor

To top that off, if you speak to Mia just after you are told to escort Ghaleon to the White Dragon Cave. She will reply (Paragraphing again) "We must protect Vane from Ghaleon." Granted the dialouge is much longer however that small line is mentioned.
