Two things which I'm surprised haven't been mentioned yet: Sequelitis and Grinding.

Sequels are awesome and all (Team Fortress 2 is a sequel after all) but certain companies keep whoring out franchises to milk them for all their worth, dismissing any potential masterpieces for not carrying long-lasting appeal. Yes, I'm sure Morrowind got Game of the Year for that.

Grinding on the other end is the most redundant excuse for lack of proper value within a game. Doing the same thing repeatedly to progress may keep the player using the game longer but all those hours wasted could have been spent exploring several new areas, levels, scenarios, etc. which the developers didn't bother to work on.

Forced racing sections in Jump & Runs. I hate them!
or in any game that isnt specifically a racing game. Like every Jak and Daxter game(except the one that actaually was a racing game), and sandbox games where some missions require u to follow and catch someone running around a whole f*cking city

Maybe they dont need to stop existing they just need more depth than being a genicidal game of simon says, but if theirs anything I hate its probably dialoguechoices, can we not have a game where we have enouph dialogue choices to justify what we would accually say?

Poor gaming things will be a result of 1 of 2 things.

1. Other people like them, even if your opinion differs.

2. Developers are lazy. This is what we call the quick time event phenomenom

(except for God of War of course...)

Nothing. Because regardless of your opinion on the feature, I guarantee there are plenty of people who love it, add to that the fact that there are probably just as many people who don't care either way and you have yourself a group of customers large enough for the designers to not give a crap about your opinion.
You raise a very good point, my friend. And I think I may have to agree. If its there, its probably there for a reason.

Pointless Gimmicks because of the hardware. (looking at you DS / Wii ¬_¬)
What he said.

Plus, achievements designed to make you play again - such as inFamous's good/bad achievements.
I like those kind of trophies and achievements. They give me some incentive to play it again.

I have to say low health sounds and self-regenerating health.

Games in which you have to find every brass ring hidden in every reload-twenty-times-from-falling-to-your-death-hard-to-reach spot on every stage on the hardest difficulty level in order to see the game's "real" ending. There's extending replay value, and then there's just pointless busy-work.

I'd like to see not complete disappearance, but decrease in "magically regenerating health" systems. Or at least some attempts at justification.
Personally I never found "Magical Boxes that cure Gunshot Wounds" conveniently scattered around the level to be that much better.

My vote goes to Escort Missions and Dedicated Multiplayer games.

Escort Missions can be done right but rarely are, game designers should in my opinion follow these rules...
1) Enemy's should attack the Player more than the Escortee
2) The Escortee should be tougher than the Player
3) The Escortee MUST have good AI and be able to keep themselves safe.
4) If you can't follow any of these rules you should make the Escortee pretty much invincible.

And dedicated Multiplayer well... I hate the fact that game companies are slacking off on decent single player experiences and forcing me to play with all of the anti-social dickheads andering about online. I'll accept Dedicated Multiplayer Games when they develop a cure for "I don't do anything but play this one game and am a god at it and am also a complete dick" syndrome.

I would have to say games that attempt to present you with some sort of mystery/quest that involves you trying to figure something out on your own...but then just frickin straight up tell you anyways i mean its just like...whats the point?

quick-time events

unlockable stuff that only shows up after you beat the game

farming or grinding - seriously, does anyone find it fun to wander around in the same area to "level up" shit? Pretty much killing anything repeatedly for any purpose other than helping a friend is asinine.

Escort Missions- I've got more important things to do than escort a convoy from point A to point Z, hitting every enemy ambush posted on the way. At least give the thing that need escorting a was to defend itself.

Regenerating Health in Non-FPS games- In an FPS its rather difficult to see enemies thanks to poor peripheral vision, which makes getting shot in some situations unavoidable. This disadvantage is mostly lost in Third Person shooters, which makes regenerating health trivial and the game too easy. Look at Saints Row 2.

I still don't understand the hatred of QTEs, though. In cutscenes, at least, I actually feel like I'm contributing to the awesome set of actions in front of me that I cant pull off in game, which is probably the reason I loved Ninja Blade.

Come on, lighten up, its just for fun. We aren't making any developers cry either. And if enough people did complain about a problem in gaming then developers would change things. We buy their games and they care about our money. If everyone was quiet because "others might like it and no one cares about me" then there would be no progress at all.

Anyway, I would like to see the end of QTEs that come out of nowhere. I don't mind them in every game but not when you couldn't have seen them coming before screwing it up the first time.

acheivements for natural progressing through the game, here I'm thinking Gears of War, an achivement for playing the game i bought? oh, gee, thanks!
I hate Achievements that are online, I'm a busy and cheap person I by games when they are cheap and most likely by them no one plays online (Like Doom or Time Shift), so I could end up missing half or more achievements due to that crap.

Bulky objective arrows. Didn't mind Oblivion's or borderlands', but bioshock's just made it seem they expected me to be mentally handicapped.

Stuns. Allow me to elaborate.

One of the things that drove me crazy about PvP in WoW was the sheer abundance of stuns, fears, polymorphs, knockdowns, and other things that make you watch for tens of seconds at a time while your character acts on its own. I understand that these are valid game mechanics and it would be a much different game if mages didn't sheep, etc., but it seemed to grow to ridiculous proportions.

DA:O did this to a lesser extent, too. Unless you're playing a fairly high-level shield warrior, expect to spend 80% of the game flat on your ass.

I have no idea who thought it would be fun to spend most of a game setting your conroller down and swigging Diet Coke while watching your character go apeshit.
