Assassin's Creed 2 has a fantastic soundtrack, the race music in particular.

Also, Final Fantasy XIII had a nice score (Although I'm still undecided on if it's a good game or not.)

God, Fallout 3's score was great. That 50s music really hit home.

The Legend of Dragoon or FF VIII. You'll be amazed at what composers came up with for PS1 games.

Final Fantasy. Most if not all of them have incredible detail when it comes to their music.
And then you play FFXII and think "This music really doesn't do anything good for this already bad game..."

Then you go back and play FFX:

I really do vote for the oft forgotten Chrono Cross.

[sub][sub]Why does Trigger get all the love?[/sub][/sub]

Ah man do those bring back memories from when I played Chrono Cross. Thanks for posting 'em, they're wonderful. The only thing I every regret when it comes to playing that game is that I could never finish it. Damn you bloody second disk that wouldn't load up! Damn you!

Other then Chrono Cross, I'd have to agree with some of y'all's choices. BioShock had a good soundtrack, Mass Effect 2 had a good soundtrack, and so on. Too many for me to really accurately represent, really. I'm a sucker when it comes to good soundtracks in games. So I leave y'all with this lovely little piece.

Wild Arms 1 intro.

Best song I have ever heard in a game, bar none...but there have been some close contenders.

EDIT: The actual song starts at the spellbook. Before that it's just the uploaders own personal intro theme.

I'd say: SotC, Okami, FFX, FFXII (or just any FF game), Fallout 3 (I didn't like the 40's music, but the original Inon Zur music was excellent). Speaking of Inon Zur, Prince of Persia has had very good music as well. Not exactly memorable, but very fitting.
Jeremy Soule does some magnificent music too. Knights of the Old Republic and Oblivion were perfect.
Oh, and MGS of course. Harry Gregson Williams did a great job.

Personal favorites that as far as I can see haven't been mentioned:

Homeworld.
Finally some decent space music that isn't classical (though Homeworld does have some) or new age.
Armored Core.
Just plain awesome music. To me it was unexpected in a mech sim.

Someone who remembers that game.

I did find 2's intro better, though.

Seawolf back in the dos days had a great soundtrack.

Dawn of War 2, Mass Effect 2, Battlefield Vietnam.

Battlefield Vietnam deserves special mention for actually allowing you to conduct a helicopeter borne attack without having to hum the Ride of the Valkeries yourself!

Fallout 3 of course. Love that Butcher Pete, and the Andrews Sisters rock.

Bioshock had some good songs, and I like the original Half-Life's ambient sounds.

Almost forgot, the whole Hitman series has great music.

I am very amazed this thread hasn't been completely hijacked by Still Alive.
