I would have made him leave. Straight away.Xanadu84 said:The one Beatles discussion I have with my friends is this: Which Beatles song is the best Beatles song ever: Come Together or Back in the USSR. These are the only 2 choices.
Also, allow me to top you. My Sophmore year roomate, an old friend from High School was in the room with me when I was playing music. And he looked at me confused when I mentioned Stairway to Heaven.
Yes. That's right. He had never heard Stairway to Heaven or any Led Zeppelin.
I don't know what you're talking about. Why Don't We Do It In The Road? is awesome. XDLukeje said:Really? Any song from that album? Including Revolution 9 and Why Don't We Do It In the Road? *shudder*3AM said:Any song from the White Album should do the trick, especially Back in the USSR.
Discussion is for both sides of the coin. Plus you were saying to everyone reading, without prejudice, that it was shocking someone didn't listen to The Beatles, to which I pointed out that I don't as well as a lot of people. Didn't want to piss on the bonfire, just saying.xdropkicknickx said:@Vanguard_Ex
No no absolutely not! and I absolutely understand not liking, but those of us who do like them tend to really love them, so we can have these types of conversations. I assumed those who did not like the Beatles would just ignore the thread considering the band name is in the subject line...
Yeah, but your not talking about one of the most popular bands ever. And again, it isn't about taste or preference, its about how in society, there's a number of things that you naturally assume that EVERYONE is aware of because they are ubiquitous. And though this person has heard of the Beatles, she is certainly a few deviations away from the mean in terms of Beatles knowledge. I don't think that the OP is floored by her taste in music, he is floored by how someone could manage to not be exposed to a variety of Beatles music. It is definitely an anomaly.Popadoo said:But she HAD heard of them, which makes it worse. She did know about them, and knew some of their songs! The majority of people don't even know half the bands I like exist, never mind name songs by them!Xanadu84 said:I gotta back up the OP on this. It's not a matter of taste. It's a matter of the shock at how deeply under a rock you have to live to have never heard of The Beatles. Its not so much bad as it is surprising.Popadoo said:And? The majority of people don't know about my favorite band, but I don't act like that when they say so. Obviously, Rise Against are quite as famous as The Beatles, but I listen to them all the time, and love every single one of their songs like a child. I'm a huge fan, but I don't act like you when people say ''Who are they?''
Well now I feel stupid, guess that's what I get for making assumptions.JFrog84 said:Hate to pick some nits but it's a harpsicord it's a very different instrument.bleachigo10 said:That piano bit near the end is what really sells the song for me.
