That game was such a shitty port. A self-correcting problem.
Please explain to me how it was a bad port. I hear this all the time with certain games that are said to be bad ports but without any sort of real good argument. The ONLY problem I ever noticed with the PC version of GoW was this annoying freeze up in certain parts of the single player which were most likely load times. They were annoying stutters that reared their ugly heads when you were what I suspect to be load points but aside from that the game is fine. Controls are fine, visuals are fine, the whole game is FINE. If you don't like the PC controls that you use for EVERY OTHER shooter then plug in a damn game pad and play that way...jesus whatever happened to giving evidence to ones claims.
I didn't feel like spelling it out. But you did so for me. The damn stuttering was insufferable for some people. GoW is in my opinion a decent game. CliffyB decided to release it a year later, and not even bother to optimize it for the PC. It was a lazy port.

So people are blaming the publisher again?

Great, no more UT series.

On a serious note, some of us (me) don't HAVE a 360 and would have probably played it on PC given the chance to. I wasn't overly looking forward to it since I've played the 360 version and seriously don't understand why everyone thinks it's so great, but I woulda given it a better shot with a PC game.
Epic is slowly leaving the PC behind anyway. GoW 2 is NEVER coming to the PC.

Well, that's stupid. *sigh*

Ah well, it's not too big a loss, as I've read nothing but bad reviews of the port. Still, it does suck if you bought and are liking it.

I wouldn't get a copy of the PC version unless I had a 360 controller. End of.
Why do people ***** about GoW PC being bad when it comes to control. It works like any other shooter game on the friggen PC!! the keyboard controls are no differnt from counter strike or Call of duty. I absolutely hated the controller, and people who think it belongs on consoles only are being rather ignorant.
It's not that I have a problem with the controls, it's just that the game feels like a 360 game, and I just can't get into it using a PC control system.

Aside from that, full refund for game not working plx.

That sucks, my friend has this, I have the 360 version. It's a shame they made people waste their money on it.

There is a news article on the matter if anyone wonders what Catkid is talking about.

When you buy a game, it should work out of the box. That is my view. EVERYONE who bought this should be entitled a full refund.
While I tend to agree that the game ought to work out of the box, I don't really think that the developer ought to give them a refund. Unless of course the developer doesn't plan on actually fixing the issue at any point in the forseeable future, but even then the license agreement (that box that no one ever reads) usually has a caveat in there that states, among other things that there is no guarntee the game won't work along with another note that says they are not liable for damage to your computer as a result of installing said game.

Am I the only one who saw this and thought, "Oh, they made a mistake and they're fixing it." As others have pointed out, it's not as if QA often thinks to check expiration dates on Microsoft Certificates, and the Kotaku article says that if you need it to work *right now* and can't wait for a new cert, you can change your system date and have it working again in the interim.

I mean, yeah, it's hilarious and all, but I don't think a mistake that is, frankly, a shared fuck up of both Epic and Microsoft, means that all Epic cares about is console gamer money now.

What could POSESS them to turn off the game? I mean, pull multiplayer if you must but shut down the entire freaking game? Why? It hurts everyone and serves no purpose!

And nothing of value was lost.

Gears of War belongs on consoles. Just stay away from the PC market from now on, Epic.
I agree that Gears of War is a terrible game destined to be banished to the realm of consoles.

However, I also think that all those people who Gears of War for the PC (a questionable decision though that may be) should be entitled to a full refund.

Good decision, Epic. Some of us would like to play games that are original. Know the term?

I'd swear for everyone here, but apparently it isn't socially acceptable to curse vehemently the guts of idiotic game producers.

Having said that, I don't own the game.

I hate Epic games! How can they do this to their customers? This falls over the border of idiotic unfairness! And what the hell is Gears Of War?
I kid really :p Anyways, I planned on renting the game to see what all the fuss is about but I guess Epic games made sure that I never get to do so... Oh well :/

People... who sets these certificates? And please realize that they weren't on older games...
Yeah... It's wierd. Piracy has increased over the years, even though developers are trying to stop piracy more.

Anyway, Gears of War for PC was a rubbish port
