I wouldn't say I'm athletic, but I love playing sports. Played various sports growing up, even played soccer on my high school team. Now I'm relegated to playing ultimate frisbee on the weekends with friends and pick up soccer games occasionally, but there are few activities I find as rewarding as those.

i used to play ice hockey. not going to the NHL anytime soon, but i was okay.
now i just try to not be fat, so some light cardio and a resistance coil are my only outlets.

for now, most of my running is done by clicking left-stick.

Nope.
But I try to work out 2-3 times a week, since I have a job where I sit for 8 hrs straight a day.
If I don't get regular exercise a) my back starts acting up and b) I get fat(ter).

In fact, I'm going out for a jog right now, as it's finally cool enough to go outside (teh sun, it burnsss!).

Yeah, I'm what can be considered an athlete.

I play Tennis and do yoga every week, so that counts

I think the stereotype of the out-of-shape nerd exists more due to Hollywood than reality.

I'm a life-long geek and gamer (pen & paper, PC, console, etc) and an accomplished athlete. I ran track in high school and college, received my black belt, and run 5k races regularly.

I'm not really an 'athlete', per se, but I do keep myself fit with plenty of walking. I'm planning on joining my university's brand new health and fitness centre in September, though, and I'm an avid climber and hiker. Do they count?

I play lacrosse and soccer, I'm a hell of a swimmer, I did karate for five years, and I snowboard every weekend in the winter. So no, you're not that weird.

I was a hybrid in high school... I played football (american) and baseball, and yet I'd come home from practice/games and play SWG for 10 hours before bed. During practice, I'd talk with my friends about random star wars trivia, the newest RPG's that were out etc...

Just last night, I played DnD with a group of friends, one of whom is 6'4", 260lbs and is a discus thrower for his college. He squats approximately 800 lbs. And he's easily the most into the DnD of any of us, speaking in accent, damn near LARPing. He's got thousands of hours playing Morrowind, Diablo 1/2, Warhammer 40k games, KOTOR 1/2 etc...

Yep, I love me some geeky athletes.

In high school I played football all 4 years. I didn't always start, but man as the season went on and I got into a groove; feeling comfortable, I would wreck shit. During playoff practices I would go almost all out to prepare the team. The last season was great because I got a starting position as the right guard on field goal/extra point. Our team became state championship as well.

Oh and football is where I got my nickname Bobo. Almost every athlete in the school calls me by that name. lol Some don't even know my real name.

I play basketball in my spare time sometimes. I'm quite good amongst my friends, and I may even be able to compete on a club level, but I don't have the confidence to join and play in front of people, as soon as I'm around other people my performance drops. Any tips to counteract that?

I'm above average at diving and I'm a fitness psychopath. I'm decent at rock climbing now, and I played soccer [travelling] for 12 years of my life.
Yet I still love gaming...

Badminton is weird? I love Badminton :D

OT: I'm gonna trial to get into the French U19 Badminton squad in two years time. I just won the French doubles national championships (With my best friend) so I guess I'm kinda an athlete? If that counts?

You're not alone. I'm a decent wrestler, fencer, and dancer, and I can sprint fairly well... if not for very long.

I can run decently fast for a long time, but that's more from effort than ability.

That said, my career in most sports is ruined by my left eye not working, which fucks up depth perception.

Yes, I'm an incredible athlete and geek. Placed in state for freestyle/grecco wrestling. Was on the USA to Beijing one year, wrestled against team New Zealand plus alot of other cool stuff. Oh, and I was team captain my senior year in high school.

Now, I do shooting competitions through the NRA and IPSC, plus several other local shooting competitions.

On top of that I'm an avid outdoorsman and I'll leave for weeks at a time to go camping with friends. I also fish for sport fish and hunt deer in the fall.

Since this thread is also about non geek stuff we do... I'm also a pilot and fly every chance I get.

Pic related: It's me from one of our camping trips to the western US deserts.

Disclaimer: yes, that's a real AR-15. And yes I shot dinner with it.
