This will be interesting to say the least. Well I hope they use that Internet 'Killswitch.'

So Money and the Government VS. People with too much time on their hands?

I am so sick of everybody declaring war on everyone else over the internet.

No one is going to fucking die; it's the bloody internet.

A site goes down, life goes on.

When Anonymous start shooting people, then we should all pay them attention. As it stands, we they're just attention seeking twerps.

It's not war - it's just getting off on how serious everyone takes you.

The problem is that the punishment is completely disproportionate to the crime. If someone stole a candy bar, or even 10 candy bars from a supermarket, does that mean they deserve 20 years in jail and the complete and total loss of their future?
That's the common way of looking at it, but I've never agreed with that. I know my view isn't widely shared so I'm not trying to call you wrong or anything, but:
Would you ever steal a candy bar? I wouldn't. Why? Stealing is wrong. Sure, all "bad" things are excusable in certain situations, but I think we can agree that stealing a candy bar has to be the result of a simple disregard for law and/or moral values. Taking what is not yours without good reason is wrong.
But the weird thing is that if you take a candy bar then the candy bar is gone forever right? If you download music or a movie then it's just a copy. The odd thing about music and movie piracy is that you're not physically taking anything, you're just making a copy of that data for personal use. I'm not advocating piracy or anything. I just think it's an interesting point to bring up. Is stealing a physical CD really the same as making a copy of that CD you got and giving it to all of your friends? If someone hasn't paid for that license to use that music or watch that film then can you really justify showing it to anyone that hasn't paid that fee?

Even though I don't advocate piracy I'm rooting for Anonymous. Simmons' punishments are far too extreme for the crime in question.

Eh, I vote for Annonymous. Gene Simmons seems like an ass, and he's probably going full out for attention. Not really a mature thing to do. You'd kinda hope someone of his age would have some common sense and not start wars with random people, 'cause some people did something illegal. Doubt he'd care about this, if it wasn't involving ilegal music downloads, rather other pressing matters.

My god what an idiot.

This is going to be hilarious. He really has no idea what he's dealing with.

Incidentally, I didn't realize he was such a colossal asshole. I'm glad I rarely listen to KISS (and have never spent a penny on them).

I may have exaggerated a little, but not a lot.

Good luck to him. I am getting sick of this "Don't mess with Anonymous" fear that so many people seem to feel.
You name makes this ironic.
Anonymous didn't invent the word, nor motto. They borrowed it as I did, so I disagree.

The fact that the name and phrase is from The Bible, and Anonymous are generally seen as an Atheist group, now that's irony.
I think your name is ironic because it's something The Many would use, but you have SHODAN as an avatar.
A very good point, although I can't think of an awesome SHODAN quote that is short enough to fit.

Ok so Anon is the combined forces of 4chan and beyond. Gene said some dumb shit, anon hacked them, he said more dumb shit and they hacked him again. . . hmm, know what we need to get this realy going? Gene to get a few hackers of his own and hit 4chan. Now while i wait for this to happen im going to go grab some popcorn.
Gene said nothing before the first hack. They hacked his site for who and what he supports. Anon shouts out about freedom of speech and expression. Well this is one of the biggest hypocritical statements they have done that I can think of in recent memory.
I still say we need to see a hack war just for the laughs.

I support Gene, partly because I like KISS, but mostly because I don't believe in people getting something for nothing. Some might call music downloading theft, some might not, but it's still free-loading, plain and simple.

Gene Simmons is a tool. The music industry rips off right and left all the time. Major LOL that they somehow are saints. Who likes his shitty music anyway? :/

Just to throw the little tidbit out there, I love how they use guy fawkes mask's. does anyone actually understand what guy fawkes was actually trying to do?
He was trying to destablise the British government so that that the Vatican could reaquire it via chatholocism, if you believe some of the more racy theories out there they planned to instate the kings catholic daughter to replace him and rule under the pope. [/history nerd Anon]

Gene is one of the shrewdest and smartest businessmen alive today, and probably the shrewedest in the music business. Watch, from 31:38 to 34:35, it's all true, as I can attest from personal experience working in the same business as Gene and earning far less from it:

Nothing will happen though. A few people will go to jail, millions more won't, Gene will make more money, lots of other people won't, nothing about the general state of play will really change. Both Gene and Anon are well-meaning paper tigers that despite their power and influence in their respective fields can't truly effect the overarching situation as much as both would like to.
