But the weird thing is that if you take a candy bar then the candy bar is gone forever right? If you download music or a movie then it's just a copy. The odd thing about music and movie piracy is that you're not physically taking anything, you're just making a copy of that data for personal use. I'm not advocating piracy or anything. I just think it's an interesting point to bring up. Is stealing a physical CD really the same as making a copy of that CD you got and giving it to all of your friends? If someone hasn't paid for that license to use that music or watch that film then can you really justify showing it to anyone that hasn't paid that fee?FaceFaceFace said:That's the common way of looking at it, but I've never agreed with that. I know my view isn't widely shared so I'm not trying to call you wrong or anything, but:JeanLuc761 said:The problem is that the punishment is completely disproportionate to the crime. If someone stole a candy bar, or even 10 candy bars from a supermarket, does that mean they deserve 20 years in jail and the complete and total loss of their future?
Would you ever steal a candy bar? I wouldn't. Why? Stealing is wrong. Sure, all "bad" things are excusable in certain situations, but I think we can agree that stealing a candy bar has to be the result of a simple disregard for law and/or moral values. Taking what is not yours without good reason is wrong.

A very good point, although I can't think of an awesome SHODAN quote that is short enough to fit.blindthrall said:I think your name is ironic because it's something The Many would use, but you have SHODAN as an avatar.Legion said:Anonymous didn't invent the word, nor motto. They borrowed it as I did, so I disagree.Arec Balrin said:You name makes this ironic.Legion said:Good luck to him. I am getting sick of this "Don't mess with Anonymous" fear that so many people seem to feel.
The fact that the name and phrase is from The Bible, and Anonymous are generally seen as an Atheist group, now that's irony.
I still say we need to see a hack war just for the laughs.Krion_Vark said:Gene said nothing before the first hack. They hacked his site for who and what he supports. Anon shouts out about freedom of speech and expression. Well this is one of the biggest hypocritical statements they have done that I can think of in recent memory.Nephilium said:Ok so Anon is the combined forces of 4chan and beyond. Gene said some dumb shit, anon hacked them, he said more dumb shit and they hacked him again. . . hmm, know what we need to get this realy going? Gene to get a few hackers of his own and hit 4chan. Now while i wait for this to happen im going to go grab some popcorn.
He was trying to destablise the British government so that that the Vatican could reaquire it via chatholocism, if you believe some of the more racy theories out there they planned to instate the kings catholic daughter to replace him and rule under the pope.
