They should make a reality show of this.
"Internet vs. Reality"
befld have I would have been one of those "Oh its just nerds with no lives, pay no attention" types, but recently, I've been exposed to the power of the internet first hand.
Tens of thousands of dollars worth in property dmg.
Because of 1 asshole on the internet.
it's a scary thing.

I want to see anonymous crushed. They had their chance to become a force to be reckoned with. When I used to go to 4chan I tried to start a revolution. They had their chance, let's see 4chan shut down and Gene Simmons rape ever single one.
How could they respect you, when you obviously do not know of their rules?

One of the well-known, written, and followed rules of Anonymous is that Anonymous can not, and will not, rally behind a leader of any kind. They're kind of like Orks from 40k, and while this chain of command makes them impossible to kill off, it also makes it harder for them to rally to one greater purpose that could do some horrifying results.

Having a leader adds a face to Anonymous. Anonymous has a guy without a face/with a mask for a mascot for good reason.
In other words, "Anonymous is not your personal army."

Believe I've seen that one on 4chan multiple times.

I'm not overly fond of either side but Anonymous is certainly the lesser of two evils, Gene's statement alone makes me root Anonymous. Unwarranted sense of self importance if I ever saw one, guy needs to take his ego down a notch or 20.

I think I'm gonna go download some KISS albums, pointless but maybe a little satisfying.
didnt anon bully some 13 year old kid with death threats and stuff? but oh gene is the greater evil for saying he wanted to ruin the lives of people who pirated music(even though we all know he was prolly just trying to scare pirates.)
Hmm, cyber bullying a few individuals vs calling on "artists" to sue every pirate for everything they have and ever will own and having them jailed with a cellmate who wants to rape them (No I'm not exaggerating it's in the article). Yeah I'm sticking with what I said, lesser of two evils. Even if he wasn't serious the fact he's so up his own ass to make such comments in the first place makes me want to side with whoever is pissing him off.

EDIT: Also you'll have to do better than "some 13 year old" to tug at my conscience.
I was actually asking a question not trying to pull at your conscience and I would have to go with telling a 13 year old kid(no matter how annoying they are still kids) you'll kill him and his family and calling his house over a scare tactic from gene which i believe it is. (and again i do not know if this is true but I do remeber hearing about them doing this awhile back not sure where anyone care to shed some light?)
Well I disagree, he'd have to of done something to do get their attention and it must've been shitty to get that reaction, maybe now he'll of learnt to play nice on the internet a harsh lesson to be sure. Also empty threats and cyber bullying kind of pale in comparison to being sued for everything your worth and being thrown in jail.

And what the hell gives Simmons the right to come off all self righteous? Chances are the has-been has spent more cash on drugs, booze, hookers and bail than he's lost to piracy.

Fighting anon is like fighting a hydra, but instead of 2 more heads it's 2000.

That being said, a firework display of epic proportions is on the way.

I hope your asshole is well-lubed, Mr. Simmons. BTW: nobody believes that you and the Cyber Police backtraced any "'adventurous' young people." You can't get past their 7 proxies.

Honestly, he made a huge mistake poking out his big, ugly head. He'll regret it, I'm sure.

My friend, sadly, is part of this "war", and has informed me that numerous Anons are having bags of shit sent to Gene's home. Real animal shit, in bags.

When I first heard the title, my thought was, Gene Simmons declares war on somebody, but it would ruin the element of surprise if he told us.

As much as I hate to say it: You can't "win" in a fight with anonymous. They're everywhere. Like a hydra, if you cut off one head ten grow to replace it. Gene Simmons should probably take his chips and leave while he's ahead, rather than feed the trolls.
This is pretty much how I feel about it as well. Anonymous is pretty much the Alpha Legion from Warhammer 40K. Hell even their symbol is a hydra. "Cut one head off and two more will replace it." You just can't win against something like that. They are all over the place and honestly, you can't get rid of them all at once.
so we need to burn the stumps... hrm but how to do it is the question...
Take out internet altogether. Better than seeing something great being taken over by thugs, just let it burn and redesign it. Sure the same thing will happen, spoiled assholes will always abuse freedom but we can't let them take it over and ruin it for everyone.

Or just cut all the heads off at once, but that may cause some legal issues. Plus if you can find out who they are, it's probably better to just disable all internet and electricity to they're home rather than murder them....maybe.
less jail time plus they would hang themselves with their ethernet cords so im in on this plan.
But where can we find this dragon beast?
I know! Let's look in the Bible! Pretty sure they talk about this in there.

Ok back....no luck. Turns out the "prophecies" are mostly just vague cold readings, who knew?
I really wish I was a hacker, I don't even know how to find somebodies IP address.
Major in programming if you are actually interested.
Wait, what am I saying? the world doesn't need another hacker.

Neither are going to come off a shining beacons of hope and general good-ness, like a foreign civil war that ravages both sides... lets just sit back and see what comes of this... probably leaving to watch something else after 5 minutes and only remembering this was a thing when it ends.

I dont see how anon can win all they can do is hack his sites and find out his info and some secrets maybe? But paparazzi already do this to celebs? gene could prolly get 4chans site down and reduce some of the population of anon. so its really not much of a contest :/ *throws popcorn away* not a popcorn worthy event and btw your allowed to say whatever you want on the internet but your not allowed to take down someones site for it.

seriously all you people backing anon how can anon do anything to gene?
They already have his address and phone number. They found a sex tape of him. His website is still down. They're sending his little girlfriend jibe to every LGBT organisation they can find, and to Dr. Pepper. That could result in him losing a sponsor and costing him millions of dollars. Your move, Mr. Simmons.
What shall they do with his address and phone number-snip-

P.S. even if gene did win all he would do is blow out anon it wouldnt take piracy out itll take alot more than gene simmons to stop piracy.
Let's just say, he's going to get a lot of pizza and junk mail. Like, literally tons.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a few people in Guy Fawkes masks round there too. As for the second point, I agree completely.

He's a dick for saying that he wants people to lose their homes, lose their lives and put them in jail for downloading a song that's worth $0.99
It's funny because if a song of his is being pirated, and it hypothetically gets downloaded 100000 times, he loses 99000 bucks.
It's also funny because he really doesn't lose anything. The money doesn't just vanish from his account each time someone downloads a song. He just makes less than he could have made, assuming that everybody who pirated his music would buy it if they had to. And that is very questionable if you ask me.
It's not relevant though. You're suggesting that walking into BestBuy and taking a TV without paying for it isn't necessarily stealing as long as nobody else was likely to buy that TV.
Sorry I stopped reading just about there.

No, I am not suggesting that. Nowhere did I say anything about whether piracy is stealing or not, it's just that game/music companies always go "Look, 1 million people downloaded our game, that means we just lost 60 million dollars!" and it's simply not true.

And how is my point not relevant? Apparently the guy I quoted was justifying ruining people's lives who downloaded music because Mr. Simmons "loses" so much money from it. Either way, that doesn't justify anything. Someone who downloaded a song that's worth 99 cents shouldn't be punished harder just because other people did the same thing.

Also your example is flawed; if you walk into a store and take a TV, the store obviously loses the TV and thus the money put into buying/manufacturing it in the first place.
Perhaps if you had the mental fortitude to read my entire response, you're rebuttal wouldn't be quite so ignorant of the points that I addressed. You think being a thief is ok, because you don't understand the value of intellectual property. Which is what I was trying to teach you. It's not just physical objects that have value, it's also ideas, or in the context of the discussion, art. This is true even if that art is something you hear but cannot see. You don't get to tell other people that their private property is fair game for your theft, simply because you refuse to understand the reality that a person can own an idea. Am I a huge Kiss fan? No. Is Gene Simmons a douche? Probably. Does that make it okay for you or anybody else to steal from him? NO!

Also, stop whining about his exaggeration. Whether he's an asshole or not is absolutely irrelevant to the discussion. He was trying to scare people away from stealing from him, it doesn't mean that he thinks everybody who has ever illegally downloaded a single song should be in prison for life. He just wants the law enforced, and he wanted to get the message out that he's willing to defend his private property from thieves.

Genesimmons.com was back in operation last night but appears to be having more troubles at the moment. As far as that goes, we're not going to bother with a blow-by-blow account, but if either side lands a real slobberknocker we'll be sure to let you know.
Okey cool, looking forward to it!

I don't like nameless faceless weasels who think that other people's private property is free to take simply because they want it. I hope the FBI crushes these worthless sacks of animal waste. I know that total success just isn't possible, but I'll bet we can get a lot of douchey kids who are involved in jail where they can whine and ***** about the corporate "MAAAAN" trampling the same civil liberties they are so quick to write off for others when they stand in the way of their immediate desires.

Awww what? Is downloading music against your Paladin code or something?
Awwww is being a worthless thief not against your's?
Would you believe me if I said "no"?
Fair enough, just don't harbor any illusions about how thats not what you're doing. As long as you aren't lying to yourself, and you plan to take what may come like a man if you're unlucky enough to get caught, then more power to you.

*fist bump* good luck

That poor, naive bastard. Alone against the flood...

Not that I support him, or Anonymous for that matter. The latter has done some vaguely noble things, but in the end they're a bunch of bored kids who fuck people over for fun. Likewise, no one deserves to lose their home or their car or anything else for downloading music. A KISS album really just isn't that valuable.

It's not relevant though. You're suggesting that walking into BestBuy and taking a TV without paying for it isn't necessarily stealing as long as nobody else was likely to buy that TV. When you gain control of a product against the will of the product's owner, then you are a thief, it is as simple as that. I know everybody wants to obfuscate reality in order to justify their actions, but it simply is what it is. Nobody is suggesting the death penalty, just maybe fine for those caught, with a minimum and a maximum on a case by case basis. The guys that need to do some hard time are the Anonymous people who think that they can go around damaging people's personal property in order to get them to shut up about not liking being stolen from.
You just compared something that takes materials to make, where as music takes nothing but time and effort. Look, I'll go spend the next ten minutes making a pot of Mac'n'cheese then demand someone pay for it, then I'll sue the local grocery store for having boxes of it and claim that their selling boxes of my creation are taking possible profit from my new business. FACT: Just because you make something does not give you the right to make money off it.
That is an unbelievably ignorant statement. At least in the context that you mean it. Of course he doesn't have the right to make money off of it, that would mean that people are forced to buy it. But if they do want it however, FACT: then people must give him what he wants in exchange. The idea that you can steal whatever you like so long as it isn't made of metal and plastic or whatever is just ridiculous. Why do you think we have copyright law? Why do you think we have patent law? Lets say that you are a pharmaceutical company, and you spend 500 million dollars researching and developing a new type of cancer medication. You now have to sell it at a certain price in order to make your money back and be profitable. The profit margin being necessary to pay your scientists a wage that will keep them working for you and not for some other pharmaceutical company. You also need that profit to be able to start working on research and development of the next cancer drug, or heart disease medication or whatever. But what if after you released your new cancer drug, some other drug company lets call them Blakfaytpharm decides to buy one bottle of your product and then reverse engineer it, and start selling it for 5 bucks a bottle, which they can do, because they aren't 500mil in the hole because of the research. A society where that is totally legal is a society where NOTHING gets invented. There would be NO pharmaceutical research, because people wouldn't be able to get back the money they invest. There would be virtually no technological advancement at all. If thats the kind of world you want to live in, just so that you can justify in your own mind your stealing of the intellectual property of others, then please go somewhere else to create that world.
Let's say it only costs me pennies on the dollar to make that medication, lets say that I could make a whole shipment for about $20 and will sell the bottles for $20. Meaning a whole box with 500 bottles makes me $10000. Now half goes to me half to the team. Who gets fucked here? The guys who have to pay, and that is basically what CDs are, they want $20 for something I'm gonna use for a short period of time that cost them less than a dollar to make millions of. THAT IS FUCKED UP. I don't care who you are, when you charge an insane price for something that cost next to nothing to produce then you're an asshole who deserves to be stolen from. (yes, I'm saying I would break into Bill Gates' house and steal his shit, cause he could afford to replace it)

"But wait, they have to pay the band!"
Fuck, are you retarded? The band makes about 5% from record sales, the real money in music is from performances, 5% of $20 is negligible compared to the some 90% for each $100 ticket sold to a 10,000 seat arena. Look, people don't complain when I print out a fancy piece of art work and hang it on my wall. It's not the original and as long as I don't say it's the original then it's not illegal, it's a copy of the Mona Lisa. But it is illegal to have a copy of some music? I'm not trying to sell it (like the example you gave above, I'm not making money off of my pirated songs) I'm just not giving them money for it. If I rob a store chances are it's to sell the TV for money, not to use in my home.
I'm impressed at the way you totally missed the primary point of my pharmaceutical company analogy. You're right, it costs them almost no money to spit out the pills once the research is done. BUT THAT RESEARCH TAKES YEARS, AND HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS! They don't even have any kind of guarantee that once they've put a shitload of time and money into a potential drug, that it's even going to be marketable. Maybe once they're 300 mil in the hole on some new cholesterol medication, they discover in testing that about 1 in every 50 people goes into cardiac arrest within 10 minutes of taking the drug. Well... holy shit, guess we can't sell that to people can we, guess we're just out 300 million dollars. Costs like that get rolled into the price of the drugs that do work, and that they can sell. In the end though, all of that is beside the point. The fact is that we live in a free country, If I make something, I don't have to sell it to you at all, and if I choose to, then I can sell it at whatever price I like. Nobody is forcing you to buy it. If I pick up two sticks on my property and glue them together, then demand that you give me 10,000 bucks for it, you can just tell me to go and fuck myself, but what you can't do is tell me that my two sticks glued together is only worth 2cents, and then force me by law to sell it to you for that. A product is worth whatever somebody will pay for it. You should have learned that in economics in high school. If Kiss wants to sell their albums for 20 bucks a pop, IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT THEY STAMP OUT THE CDs AT 10 CENTS A PIECE. It is their property, and they can sell it at whatever price they like. If you don't like it, then don't buy it. If you steal it instead, it doesn't matter if they were asking for a million bucks for it, you're still a thief.

You name makes this ironic.
Anonymous didn't invent the word, nor motto. They borrowed it as I did, so I disagree.

The fact that the name and phrase is from The Bible, and Anonymous are generally seen as an Atheist group, now that's irony.
I think your name is ironic because it's something The Many would use, but you have SHODAN as an avatar.
