Gene Simmons Declares War on Anonymous

This won't change anything unfortunately. Everyone knows the only real way to get your voice heard is through violence. Words and crashing websites are too easily ignored. I'm supporting anon on this one. Suing the hell out of someone and ruining their lives because they stole a few poxy CDs? What a mentalist.

EDIT: Isn't funny how few people even entertain the idea of a violent attack to get ones point across. Imagine the difference the public would make if every time something that's detrimental to them ie DRM, speed cameras etc was implemented people just destroyed whoever and whatever was the source of it all? I suppose the ape in me just wants to tear stuff apart. Not that I want to tear Gene Simmons apart. I can't remember the last time I downloaded some KISS.

Simmons can fuck off. He's a has-been 'tough-guy' who thinks that suing everybody is the best solution. I hate Anon, but I pray to the internet gods that they crush Gene Simmons and his middle-age-rage. The MIAA, RIAA, and all those other idiots can still go die in my opinion too. I buy my music. And even when I buy my music + movies, they muscle their fat asses in and DRM the holy living fuck-me out of the shit I paid for. So yes, I'd prefer that Anon won this one.

*Sigh* much as it grates on me to side with a bunch of internet terrorists over an 80's rockstar, I have to admit that Gene Simmons is WAAAY out of line here, especially considering that he's talking about ruining people for the sake of a few cents, when he has more money than any of them will ever even see. Also, Anonymous have been involved in some good causes too, though maybe not for the right reasons. I really don't think either side deserves any success here.

Thats a very short sighted view. Yeah, it might get something done at first, but then the people with other opinions will resort to violence too, and there will be retribution attacks, and the whole thing will quickly spiral out of control. Imagine THAT every time some guy gets pissed off about something.

I laughed pretty hard.

Trying to play the internet tough guy with 4chan when your identity is known is a pretty stupid idea, and this guy Gene Simmons seems like a pretty stupid man.

I really hope Anonymous wins this fight. I understand points on both sides of the legal argument, but that's not really what I'm thinking about at the moment. Anonymous represents the common man. Albeit a very messed up common man, but the common man none the less. I want to see celebrity status, with all it's flashy money, taken down a goddamn notch. This is not a legitimate argument, of course. I'm just frustrated with how things are going right now.

Considering that some of my favorite recording artists encourage piracy of their stuf as a free form of advertising, I can't say I support Simmons' view on this.

But 4chan leading a revolution against society? Ehh, I'm really nto sure who to side with here.

Actually, nevermind. I was just halfway through repeating what I said again and then I realised that you won't get what I'm trying to say anyway. I don't know why your response was so hostile when I never disagreed with anything you said in the first place. Perhaps you lack the "mental fortitude" to understand that.

Suffice it to say that you totally missed my point and I never said anything about whether I think downloading music is ok or not. Simply put: "Losses" is the wrong word. Actually, there. That's my point. Yes, it's irrelevant to "the discussion" but I don't recall participating in whatever discussion you're apparently in anyway. You just keep misinterpreting my every post and frankly, I don't see a reason to keep justifying myself here.

As much as I disagree with Gene's hardline views on piracy, I hope the planets align and he stomps on Anon's throat, wearing these boots:

Appropriately, my info says those are the boots from the album 'Destroyer'

As far as I'm concerned they're nothing but a load of bored arseholes that need flogged into line.

We need more people like this. Anonymous has gotten too cocky and too big for their boots. It's time to remind eople that there is no such thing as total internet anonymity, and you can't just go aruond breaking the law whenever you feel like it, or because somebody 'dared to invoke your name.'

I don't know who you are, but what you just said is way more respectable than that huge wall of quotes you just quoted.:)

*Gene Simmons has alerted the horde*.
Basically, this.
Simmons might be able to do some damage and then escape with his life but in the long run he'll lose. There'll just be too many zombies to 'sue' that he will actually be able to form a coherant plan to stop them all.

Wait, did I say zombies or people?

Also, do you think that'll hold up in court?
"Mr Cooper, you are twelve years of age, correct?
"That is correct"
"And you stole a song worth seventy-nine pence according to the standards of itunes, correct?"
"That is also correct"
"I move to fine him twelve thousand pounds"
um, no Gene. Just.....no.

Anonymous probably can be beaten, but not by Gene Simmons, unless he turns out to be the internet incarnation of Sun Tzu. From what I know of Anonymous, their campaigns are organised guerilla style. With an intelligent strategy, you could hit them hard enough to at least make them think twice about what they're doing, but the way Simmons obviously intends to confront them will just entertain them. Its the same way anyone they harass tries to fight them, and its completely the wrong approach.

Gene Simmons doesn't take shit. We all know this. He's too big to fuck with. You don't dare fuck with him. If he says he's gonna do something, he's going to do it.

Bring out the pop corn, this is gonna be AWESOME!
You do realize he is going to lose regardless.
You do realilze I've made ultiple posts, one of them detailing that gene won't attack and pick of Anonymous, but attack those DISTRIBUTING first. He's not an idiot

Read all my posts before attempting to simply denounce one statement
Meh. That would take effort.

We're sorta like that. Well, some of us are. Anonymous is not a set entity. I my opinion anonymous is possibly the most ascended of the ascended memes. You may want to read a book (or a Wikipedia article) on memetics to understand what I mean by that.

I do love how people are shoving this to extremes. Everyone says he's going to go after people who download one or two songs. MAYBE that is the case, but don't you think he'll go after distributors, MASS pirates, and the other people doing this on a mass scale before he goes after people that pirate one or two songs?
Thats something I hadn't thought of before, but makes much more sense.
If he went after the sites that host pirated stuff, that would be much easier to do than fight Anonymous.
But that is not the title of this thread is it?
NNO it's it's not the title of the thread, but it's what he said he'd do. Go after everyone who pirates and steals. He never said "Those anonymous sons of bitches are going down. You need a plan to work off of. You don't just shove your dick in a beehive and hope they suffocate. You work systematically. Wading into something without a plan is an idiot's idea, and it's not the way Gene Simmons thinks.

He'll probably go after the major people first, and when they find stupider and stupider ways to attack him (rather than redirecting him to Piratebay because he might try to get that closed first), he'll starting hitting at them.

Everyone assume he's just going to ATTACK Anon with no idea of what he's doing. The man is not stupid.

Silly anonymous.

Humanity makes an really crappy singularity. Should just wait till we have robots to do thinking for us.

Anyways, this seems rather interesting. Personally, I hope for truce. :p
