I consider myself a broad gamer. I like most genres. FPS, Sports, Puzzle, JRPGs, MMOs. You name it.

However, no matter how hard I try, I just cannot play RTS games. I find the micromanaging to be to pressing on my nerves, and all the times I've played, the games take forever, or at least seem like they do.

RTSs, and Sports.

Love JRPGs, beat FFVII in 3 days (most of the side quests completed), and Lost Odyssey in a less than a week. Do I get a cookie?o_O

Just the fact that you can spend years learning every super-powerful combo, and still have your ass handed to you by a monkey hitting their head on the buttons.

Or you try to play with someone and they kill you with one never-ending combo repeatedly.
Shouldn't you spend those years learning to counter those never-ending combos before they start?

I loathe with every fiber of my being most western RPG's (I haven't read all of the responses so far, but from what I can tell, I'm a black sheep on this one). I could not stand Mass Effect, Oblivion, or Fallout 3. And no, I'm not just saying that. I really can't stand them. Sports games, I just don't get. FPS's, for the most part, I find boring.

Really, the main genre I do enjoy is Action-Adventure. Everything else I like is secondary.

I can't stand JRPGS.

Though... admittedly I've only played two JRPGS, but that was more than enough for me. The first one was something like "Legend of the Dragoon Something Something Destiny Something", and a bit of one of the Final Fantasy games at a friend's house. Now, don't get me wrong, I can get into turn-based combat, so long as it maintains some level of realism (i.e. characters stay where I just moved them while the enemy takes their turn). So I really enjoyed turn-based combat in games like the Fallout series. But most JRPGs run like this: on your turn, you pick an enemy that you want to hit, your character automatically runs ( or in the case of Dragoon, jumps) toward the enemy (who is usually about twenty feet away), hit hum, and then run or jump back to where you were before you made the attack. And then there are some of the more complex spells, whose animations can run long enough for me to order a pizza, pay for it when it arrives, eat it, take a nap, wake up, make a cup of tea, and then retaliate.

Sports Strategy Games. As in you're the coach and you tell your players to make a certain play. Your only point of view is a scoreboard and who has the ball.

I can never get into RTS's. It's weird, I actually start out loving them, but after about 5-6 custom games I just lose interest. I don't think I've ever finished an RTS story campaign.

Fighting games and sport games.

Sure, I sometimes play fighting games (Tekken-series, Super Smash etc) with my friend at LAN parties, but never outside them and even at the LANs they are more of a way to pass small amounts of time while waiting for a game to be installed, the router being confiqured etc.

Sport games, including car 'sports'. Driving an F1 and watching those fractions of a second tick away as you head towards the next turn... Yay? Umm, no. For some reason playing pool with a computer, car games, managing a football team etc just don't do anything for me. I feel like they are all seen and done in under five minutes;Get used to the controls and that was it, nothing new or exiting to see or feel.

I understand why others play them, but I never can get myself immersed into them.

Genre's? Skys the limit duuude. *takes a drag of weed and puts on a hippie costume*

I can't get into specifics really, Im a complex kinda gal... Love and peace to all genres and all that crud.

The one I find hard to get into is the point and click adventure games but even a few of those have weedled their way into my attentions. Nothing really stands out as somthing I just Cannot get into...

I'm a renaissance gamer. I can get into any genre as long as it's good.

Oh wait, except sports games, BORING!
Yeah, sports games just seem to be incredibly boring. I keep thinking "You know, I could be playing a game where I don't get in trouble for ripping the guys arms off" whenever I play sports games.

RTS. I'm awful at them. I can't even get halfway through Halo Wars (it's the mission where you have to get all the civilians onto the pelicans that does it to me)
